" How did the guy who invented the alphabet know that the letter 'a' is before the letter 'b'?"
" How did the guy who invented the watch know how late it was?"
" Why do we complain about getting wet but we love to take a bubble bath or a warm shower?"
" Why-" I'm rudly cut off from dither questions when Liam groans in frustration. Eh, I'm a curious girl.
" Everly will you shut up?! "
I look at Liam stunned. How dare he tell me, Everly Pregnant Adams, to shut up?
I put my right hand over my heart to indicate a little hurt.
" Ouch Liam, ouch. "
Liam only rolls his eyes while putting a jar of Peanut Butter into the cart.
" I'm not going to answer your stupid questions."
I roll my lip upside down and draw my eyebrows together making it look like I'm about to throw a tantrum.
" My questions aren't silly." I defend myself. I don't care how childish I look right now. These last few weeks have been too intense. Someone needs to brighten the mood and Liam's tense figure isn't helping.
I reach over for the jelly and toss it into the cart.
I've been getting cravings for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches the whole week. I guess the baby likes it.
I still haven't decided on a name for her since I found out I'm having a girl. There are so many options but none of it seems right.
Jasmine , Ally, Brooke. It all sounds so nice but it doesn't have a nice feeling going with it.
" Grab the Nutella as well." Liam orders as he walks past me on the hunt for more things to throw into the cart.
I walk over to grab the Nutella but I freeze on my spot. From the corner of my eye I see a woman enter the isle. Not just any woman. Turning my head into the woman's direction, the face of my mother becomes more clear. I know it hasn't been that long since I last saw her but the woman standing there isn't the woman I've know my whole life. Her hair is highlighted with gray stripes and the side of her eyes have been matched with a few extra wrinkles here and there. She's paler than usual. She looks sick.
She doesn't notice me at first but when she turns into my direction, she goes as white as a ghost.

Her eyes leave my face and focuses it on my belly. She looks stunned to see how big my bump has gotten. Not that it's that big but it looks pretty big on me. I'm about 14 weeks along.
She starts making her way towards me and on instinct I turn around and quickly walk over to Liam.
" Walk." I say out of breath as I reach Liam's side.
Something inside me makes me grab his hand. Holding his hand tightly, we walk into another isle.
Sorry Nutella, I'll come back for you.
" What's going on?" Liam asks utterly confused by my odd behavior. He tries to turn around to inspect the threat but my death grip on his arm doesn't allow him to.
I don't say anything as I continue down the isle.
"Everly wait." I hear a small voice behind me.
Shit. She followed us.
This time Liam stops and makes me turn around. He's now looking at my mother in confusion before a light bulp goes off in his head as he puts the pieces together.
" Is this your mother?" he asks hesitantly not knowing how to approach the situation.
I nod.
" Everly sweetie -"
" I don't want to talk to you."I cut her off and direct my eyes to something on the shelf.
" Everly please." she begs as she takes another step closer to me. On instinct I back up and accidental knock something off the shelf as I back up against it.
" I think it's best if we go." Liam interrupts and takes my hand again.
" Excuse me young man. This is my daughter -"
" Not to be rude or anything but where the hell have you been the past few weeks? A mother doesn't just abandon her child like that. "
I look up at Liam. My eyes gloss up as his words hit me. It's been so long since someone besides Alexa have stood up for me.
" Excuse me?" my mother asks clearly shocked at Liam's words just as I am.
" I might not know the first thing about being a parent but I definitely know that what you are doing to Everly is fucked up in so many ways. She doesn't need you. She never has. Never will. And never will have too. Everly and Chicka deserve much better than your pathetic excuse of a mother."
Liam had decided to give the baby a nickname as long as she doesn't have a name. For some reason Chicka got stuck on him. It kind of reminds me of a chicken If I'm being honest but it has a nice ring to it.

" It's a girl? " my mother asks breathlessly in amusement. The nerve she has to be excited shocks me.
" It's my girl. " I say and walk off, leaving my mother speechless once again.
She was the one who didn't stand up for me when dad kicked me out. She is the one who never even bothered to call me up to hear how I was doing. She never cared about me. She only cared about my dad and only tried to please him. Look where that has gotten her.
" Are you okay?" Liam's words bring me out of my thoughts.
I nod towards Liam and place one hand on my belly. I really need some peanut butter now.
" Let's go pay." Liam suggests as he picks up the cart again and folds his free hand around my trembling one.
When we finished paying we drove off to my house. Alexa had to go away on a business trip for the weekend and Luke had to go visit his dad in Australia.
Alexa suggested that I go stay at a friend's for the week which was hard for me because I don't really have friends. Wow that actually sounds very depressing. I really need to get out more.
Nah.
My original plan was to stay at the house on my own and binge watch Grey's Anotomy but those plans got canceled when Liam found out that I would be alone for the weekend. He wasn't happy with the idea at all. So he invited himself over for the weekend. As if I had a choice in the matter.
" You hungry?"Liam asks while bringing in the groceries.
" I'm starving." I say as I start thinking about sinking my teeth into a peanut butter and jelly sandwich right now.
" Good. Then go make us some lunch." He exhales and walks off to the living room. I roll my eyes as he turns on the TV and I hear what sounds like a football game.
Typical.
I unpack the groceries and start making me the sandwich I've been craving all week. I couldn't have finished faster as I sink my teeth into it.
It tastes like heaven.
I accidentally moan out load which caught Liam's attention.
" Everly... You okay?" he coughs awkwardly.
" Uh...Yeah...just enjoying this sandwich."
That must have sounded so weird.
He stays quiet and I take his silence as my cue to continue to devour the piece of heaven in my hands. Once I'm finished I realize that Liam probably wants something to eat as well. What a terrible host I am.
I don't know if Liam remembers, but the last time I tried to cook, I burned down part of the kitchen.
Deciding to not make the same mistake again, I make Liam a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as well. I smile down at my master piece of a sandwich. It's beautiful.
Walking over to Liam with the sandwich I couldn't resist in taking a few bites on the way over.
Eh, can't blame a girl from loving peanut butter and jelly.
" Where is the other half of my sandwich?"
" I think the cat is thirsty."I try to come up with an excuse.
" You don't have a cat."
" It must be the neighbor's cat then"
Liam just laughs and pats the seat next to him for me to come sit down. He takes a bite of his half eaten sandwich and I decide to take the seat next to him.
I don't know anything about football but like most girls I act like I know everything.
That was until I cheered for the wrong team. Damn it.
" You don't know a thing about football do you?" Liam asks as he tries to hide his laugh.
I don't even try to argue as Liam starts explaining what the teams game plan is.
This is gonna be a long football game for me.
Liam is cut off from explaining the football match when his phone goes off.
When he sees the ID caller his eyes narrow.
" One minute." he says and gets up leaving me confused as hell.
I try and listen to what he is saying but he's back in less than a few seconds with a worried expression written over his facial expression.
" We need to go. Now." He orders.
" What. Why? "
Liam paces around the room and tries to grab some of his belongings.
" Just get your stuff Everly."
" Woa. Hold up. I'm not leaving untill you tell me what's going on."
I stand still on my spot. No one tells a pregnant lady what to do.
" They are on their way."
" Who's they?"
" The Snakes."
