《My halfbie - GwinamXreader》Chapter 8

"How did you make it here on your own, weren't you at home when everything started" Onjo asks me after checking my arms. "I was at home but I couldn't just sit there and wait to hear for you guys so I came to the school" I say as Onjo smiles brightly at me before hugging me tightly. "I don't really understand how you managed to the roof on your own but I'm just glad you're alright" Onjo says as I smile, happy to just be around my friends. Part of me felt bad since I had no idea where Gwi nam went but for now it was safer for me to stay here since the zombies won't hurt Gwi nam.
"What's that" prez asks while pointing down at my side. I look down to see a small blood mark on the side of the jacket. "Oh shit" I say and unzip the jacket. Onjo steps back slightly thinking it might be a bite mark but once I uncovered the wound she let out a sigh of relief. "What happened" Onjo asks while taking a closer look at the wound on my side that was bleeding a little. "I ran into some guy and he kept threatening us with a knife" I say as Onjo look sat me worriedly.
"What do you mean when you say us, are there more people" prez asks not really caring about me losing blood. I open my mouth but can't bring myself to explain so I just shake my head. "Oh, I'm sorry" Onjo says while reaching over and rubbing my shoulder obviously understanding what I meant. "It's fine, any idea if there's anyone else alive" I ask as Onjo seems hesitant. "Well I don't know if alive is the right word" she says as I become confused.
"We saw Gwi nam but he wasn't human anymore but he wasn't a zombie either like this mutated thing" she says as I clench my jaw slightly but calm down. "How come he isn't with you now then" I ask and look to prez for an answer but she really doesn't care. "He tried to kill Cheongsan" she says in a lower voice as I feel my eyes widen a little. "Come on he wouldn't right" I say trying as I can't bring myself to believe that Gwi nam would try to kill another person.
"I mean none of us really knew him so would it really be surprising if he was a murderer" Prez finally pipes up as I turn to her and without thinking glare at her slightly. I already hate this girl. "You'll have to ask Cheongsan he knows what happened" Onjo says as I look over at the group that's setting up planks of wood as an SOS sign. "Alright what about everyone else, what about Gyeong-su he would've been with Cehongsan right" I say as her face drops. "Prez" I ask while turning in hope for an answer about my friends.
"Na-Yeon killed him ages ago" Prez says as I feel my heart drop. "No he can't be, he's fine right" I say as Onjo just stays silent while looking at the floor. The reality of it sets in as I just fall silent for a minute. "Everything alright now" Cheongsan asks while coming over. "Ye it's fine, right Onjo" I say while gulping back the ripping feeling of grief inside. I can't imagine how much it hurts Cheongsan since they were the closest out of everyone. "Ye she's fine" Onjo says as I zip up my jacket to hide the wound on my side and leg.

"Where did you get that jacket, I don't think I've ever seen you wearing it before" Cheongsan says as I walk with him back over to the others as some move away from me. "Just found it while looking for food and thought it might be useful" I lie since I didn't want to say it was from Gwi nam. I couldn't bring myself to believe that Gwi nam would try and hurt Cheongsan but I decide to avoid it anyway just in case since Onjo has no reason to lie. Suhyeok looks over and waves to me while giving me an odd look for some reason.
"Tall boy" I say and nod to him as he still gives me an odd look but goes back to normal when Cheongsan looks. "Nice to see you alive shortie" he says while wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "Cheongsan why don't you keep helping with the sign and I'll try and fill y/n in on what we're doing" Suhyeok says as Cheongsan agrees and goes back to help with the sign. "I'm not stupid, you guys are obviously making an SOS sign" I say while I feel his grip around my shoulder tighten slightly.
"Come sit" he says as I just walk with him since he was acting weirdly. I sit down next to the edge of the wall as Suhyeok sits next to me with a smile on his face. "Where did you get that" he asks getting straight to the point as I'm just left confused. "The jacket where did you get it" he asks again after I don't get it. "I found it" I say hesitantly since I wasn't sure why it was important. "Where did you find it" he asks as I just look over confused again.
"In a class while I was looking for food" I say as he obviously doesn't seem satisfied with this answer. "Don't lie to me, where did you really get it" he says calmly making sure not to get peoples attention. I catch on to what he was suggesting but can't bring myself to admit that Gwi nam gave it to me since it was obvious everyone here didn't like the boy. "What are going to do if I tell you" I say still looking over at him.
"I just don't understand why you have it" he says as I scoff a little and look back over at the rest of the group. "Not to sound rude but it's not your business where I got this from" I say as he looks over to me seriously. "He's not a good person and you know that" Suhyeok says seriously as I look over and grit my teeth. "Just because you're the only one here that knows that me and Gwi nam are friends doesn't mean you have to be all protective about it, I let you be about your secrets so leave mine be" I say and get up as he keeps sitting there.
"He tried to kill us" Suhyeok says bitterly as I just turn to face him and glare. "He kept me safe, he kept me alive alright so I'm sorry that I can't quite believe that Gwi nam would do that" I say quietly as Suhyeok doesn't change his expression. "Can you tell me truthfully that he's never hurt anyone, that he's never killed anyone, that he's never hurt you" Suhyeok says as I open my mouth to defend him but end up staying silent since I couldn't. He has hurt people, he did kill Myung-hwan, he did hurt me even if it was by accident.

"See he was never" Suhyeok starts saying as I send him a glare. "Don't you dare finish that sentence" I say as he obviously wants to keep speaking but just leaves. "I just don't want to see another one of my friends get hurt" he says as I step back. "You're too late anyway" I say under my breath but he hears it anyway. He goes to say something but before he gets the chance I feel a hand rest lightly on my head.
"I still can't believe that you're here" Woojin says as he rubs his hand through my hair a little. "Everything alright" Woojin asks while looking back and forth between me and Suhyeok. "Of course just finding out about stuff" I say as he nods a little. "Suhyeok why don't you go help with the sign" Woojin says as the other boy nods and gets up while ignoring me.
"He's become extra moody" I say while watching him walk away as Woojin sighs a little. "Ye, I don't really blame him though since Cheongsan nearly killed Class prez" Woojin says as I look over confused. "They did what" I ask now invested in finding out more. "Ye Prez got bit by Gwi nam and started turning but she's alright now I guess she's a halfbie or something" he explains as I go silent for a moment. "Or something" I say as I look over at prez that's just watching as everyone else is making a sign. "Can't believe she became one" I say while feeling slightly smug about it.
I know I shouldn't feel smug that she got bit and almost became a zombie but she always pissed me off and from what I know about her just from this one meeting with her she really does rub me the wrong way. "We should probably help out" Woojin says as I nod and we head over to the side and grab some boxes. "You guys are coping really well" I say to Woojin as we put the boxes next to some planks to try and shape out the letters. "We're all doing what we can to help out" he says as I nod while starting to adjust some items.
"Do you think if someone does come to help us then we could help the other people here" I say as Woojin looks over. "I mean if there is other people, there must be some right" I say as he nods. "Hari must be somewhere" he says to himself as I nudge him. "Of course she is, she's a badass after all" I say as he smiles. "Ye she is" he says as I step back and look at what the sign looks like now. "Apart from all the zombies how have you been" I ask since we mostly finished the sign and now just needed to wait.
"As good as it can get I guess" he says obviously lying through his teeth. "Just be honest with me" I say as he looks over with a slight sigh. "No point hiding the truth, we're all going through something so tell me about it" I say in an attempt to help him feel better. "You sure, it's not your burden to carry" he says as I nod and motion for him to carry on. He seems hesitant at first but starts to speak a little later.
"We watched people turn and had to push people away, Hari might be dead already and so I might never get to see her again and everyone up here seems to be losing their minds because the constant fear of someone hiding a bite or some guy coming to kill us" he finally lets out all at once as I reach my arm over and rub his back. "It'll be alright, once we get out someone will find a cure and we can come back for everyone" I say trying to lighten the mood even if I didn't really believe that.
"Thanks, even though I can tell that's way too good to be true I appreciate the idea" he says while smiling a little. "Someone will find us I mean look at our massive sign, can't miss that" I say while looking over at the boxes and planks that from here looked like they were just scattered randomly across the floor. "Good point" he says while jumping up and turning to me. "We should go sit with the group to keep warm" he says as I smile at him and nod.
"Good idea" I say while following his joyful little steps as we go and sit with the group. I sit next to Onjo and Woojin since Suhyeok seemed to still be annoyed at me. He was sitting next to Prez anyway and when I say sitting next to each other I mean they were practically sitting on each other. I'm happy for him getting with his crush but honestly she pisses me off.

The Perfect Specimen
ON PAUSE: FURTHER INFORMATION BELOW In a world where zombies are common and everything is evolving to acclimate with radiation, our Main Character has a special trait about him that helps him acclimate and evolve with the harsh conditions as well. But where will that lead him, and will that be enough? Please don't hold back and give me everything you got. I'll take mindless rants and very constructive good criticism. I just appreciate the fact that you took the time to read and review if you did! Further update. This novel is now on pause. I have been taking everything in from the experience of writing this novel, both positive and negative feedback. Thomas the Brawler
Thomas doesn't remember what his last name was, before it became Bluebrim, a name belonging to another universe. He's also pretty sure he wasn't this stupid before he arrived, but what can you do, when a day that was supposed to begin with an interview to set your life back on track instead begins in a universe that makes no sense, with rules you can't begin to understand? Maybe he should have paid more attention to the avatar creation screen ... Content warnings: All of them. Seriously. Expect lots of blue screens to begin with. Don't expect a power-leveling fantasy, in which the lone hero beats up all the bad guys, and gets a harem of women. There's just a guy who treats character creation like an annoying series of pop-up advertisements, and the story is basically the ramifications of that. The main character has to learn to take the world he's found himself in seriously, and he'll learn the way most of us do, by doing it wrong first. This is, insofar as it is successful, a dark comedy fantasy. Also a bit of horror, particularly but not exclusively body horror. I'm pretty sure I've earned those Content Warning tags, so, uh, yeah. This is practice. Hopefully things improve as I go, and figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I make no guarantees things will ever get better. I've already made mistakes, I'll make more, and I'm happy to notice them each time I make them. You don't improve unless you fail. (On the plus side, it probably won't get much worse.) Feel free to point out anything you think I'm doing wrong; I don't promise to change anything, particularly if it's a matter of taste, but I am looking to improve, and figuring out what I need to improve goes faster if I don't have to try to figure it out myself. I've updated the earlier chapters for formatting, in the hope that it would make everything easier to read on mobile devices. Hopefully things work slightly better now, but please let me know if there are any issues anywhere.
