Once both of the teens were in the ROR, Hermione opened the book and sat leaning on him. Hermione decided she would read today and began.
Draco listening carefully to her reading wrapping an arm around her. Getting comfortable they kicked their shoes off and continued with the book. Both of the teens relaxed at their company.
A couple of chapters later they decided to head back the their dorms.
Draco arrived to his dorm finding Blaise waiting for him. "So tell me." Blaise rubbed his hands together impatiently. "Fine. Hermione and I are friends and I'm going with her to the ball. There." Draco felt as if a boulder was lifted off his shoulders. "Mate that's wow. I'm happy for you but wow. I think I need some sleep. You coming?" Draco nodded and followed him up. "I won't tell anyone by the way." Blaise said before going in the room.
Hermione got up the next day with a big smile on her face. She got dressed with jeans and a red sweatshirt. She could hardly contain her happiness. She didn't even know why but she just was.
She walked alone to the Great Hall to see if Draco was there when she Hermione someone calling her. "Granger!" She turned around to see who it was and saw Blaise. "What do you want Zabini?" She scowled which was hard because she was just super happy. "Draco tells me that you and him are going to the ball together. Don't get me wrong, I actually think it'll be nice to see him smile for once. He probably does that awfully a lot with you. Anyways don't hurt him, I know you're friends since first year but don't hurt him." Blaise began walking off without giving her time to speak. She continued her journey to the Great Hall with bow her stomach rumbling.

Once she got there she had some cereal. "Éxcuse mii mees, can ei seet 'ere?" She saw Victor hovering her. "Sure." She didn't want him to feel left out she knew how it felt. She looked up and down the Slytherin table and spotted Draco. He was calm because after all he knew the kind of girl his friend was. They smiled brightly at each other and got back to their food. "Doo chu 'appen to knou when de champions r beeng selected?" Victor asked. "Oh this afternoon." She informed Victor.
"Hey guys!" "Hi Mione." "Food!" Ron, Harry, and Ginny sat down. "Hermione where did you go yesterday?" Ron suddenly asked before taking a bite of his food. "To the library of course." Hermione stated firmly. "But I went there and didn't see you. Did you go somewhere else?" Hermione didn't expect that to happen so she looked at Ginny for some help. "She was with me Ron. In the girl's dorm." Ron stopped talking and began filling his mouth with food. Meanwhile Harry and Victor were talking about Quidditch. "Hi Ginny." Neville greeted he turned to Hermione, " hi Hermione. Ginny do you mind if I talked with you?" Ginny stood up and followed him out the Hall.
"Do you want to umm come with me to the ball Ginny?" Neville looked nervous at her. "I would love to Neville." Ginny kindly accept and went back to her friends. She looked over at Hermione and nodded. Hermione understood quickly and smiled. Hermione looked at the Slytherin table once again and looked at him and the door, making a clear sign of what she wanted to do. She got up and Ron called her. "Hermione here are you going now? Can I come?" Hermione looked at him and shook her head, "that is none of your business Ronald." With that she left.

As she got in the ROR, she felt two strong arms wrapped around her. "Do you want to talk? Or do you want to do something fun?" He asked with a smirk. "Hmm I was going to talk but I like the other option." She made a chessboard appear in front of them. "Oh you're going down Granger." He sat down in one chair. "I don't think so Malfoy." She stuck out her tongue. "Let's see Malfoy, the winner, me, will get a massage from the loser, you." Hermione winked at him. "You better get your hands ready to massage my back Grangy." He teased.
---A few minutes later---
Hermione had won the game and a small bed appeared. "Come on I need my massage." She grabbed his hand and led him.
"Tomorrow is your birthday right?" Draco suddenly asked and she nodded. "Well can you meet in a bit by the doors I want to take you somewhere. Wear something nice but not fancy, just casual." Hermione looked at him trying to figure out where he was taking her. "I'm not spoiling the surprise Mione." He informed her as if he could read her thoughts.
A few minutes later they went to change.
"Hey Mione. Why are you back so early?" Ginny wondered. Hermione looked around to see if anyone else was in the room and she walked towards Ginny. "Tomorrow is my birthday, so today Draco is taking me out for a surprise. Can you help me pick out an outfit?"
Ginny nodded and they went there her clothes.
Finally they chose a white button up shirt with a black collar with white flowers, a black skirt with white flowers at the bottom that matched the shirt and black flats. Hermione did her makeup neatly and tamed her wild hair. She left to the from of the castle and saw Draco waiting for her. He eyed her up and down with his stormy grey eyes. He was wearing a black shirt and dress pants. "You look wow." He hardy made those words out making Hermione blush a light shade of red.
They headed to small cafe where they talked and talked about the most fascinating things. Then he took her to a humongous bookstore with all the books she could imagine. The bookstore had from muggle fairytales to books on how to treat a thindwrbird by Newt.
Her brown eyes widened at the sight of all the books there was. They went in and out of rows of shelfs. Finally a big golden book caught her attention. She grabbed it from the shelf and flipped through pages. It was a combination of every fairytale there was to know about from both of her worlds. Yet her eyes dimmed out when she saw the price. She couldn't afford it as much as she wanted to. Draco saw her eyes and grabbed the book from her hands, "grab another book you want and I'll pay for it. It's your birthday present from me." He kindly smiled at Hermione who returned the smile.
She kept on looking at books when she felt a warm gaze coming from Draco and not leaving. She looked at him and her warm brown eyes met his stormy grey eyes. They smiled and blushed making both of them look away.
Hermione grabbed another book about muggle historic events and they went to pay.
By the time they went back to Hogwarts it was lunch time. Hermione carried her things back to her dorm and headed down to eat with a big smile on her face.
