Shahid Yousafzai and Qasim Yousafzai were only kids when their father left Afghanistan and brought them to the United States of America.

Both the brothers had seen their mother get killed in front of their eyes. To be more specific, raped in front of their eyes.

So the hardships they faced in the New York City seemed nothing to them. They just kept going on. Doing side jobs along with their father and studying side by side.

They were in their thirties when their small start-up company flourished into a business empire. And they became one of the most influential personalities of Afghan origin.

Their father died with satisfaction seeing his both sons doing so well in their lives.

However, things are not supposed to be good all the time. Sometimes they go downward. And that's exactly what happened when Qasim Yousafzai died all of a sudden.

• So the six protagonists of Shahbano are inspired from the six pieces of chess. Because a few days ago, I thought, "Hey, why don't I write a story inspired from the game of chess?" And here I am.

• The prologue given above is simply added to make you relate to the legacy of Yousafzai family.
