《Shadow》Part four Logan's perspective

Once I arrived at school I left Patton with Roman and went to locate Virgil. As usual, he is seated at the picnic bench located approximately 56 feet from the edge of the school's property line.
"So what happened to Patton because you have been very anxious for the past two days and that only happens when something has happened to Patton." Virgil states I trust Virgil with information like this. He is too anxious to have fought anyone, but statistically Roman would be rather angry with me. So I should probably only use medical terms and not mention Roman by name. "Patton was brought to me because there was a chance he suffered severe head trauma however after careful examination he was discovered to be fine, simply in shock." Virgil appears to relax slightly when he hears me say that. "So are you going to explain what happened?" He asks me rather calmly. "I am not supposed to disclose that information," I reply. "You are being much more secretive than normal." "Falsehood you just don't pay enough attention to the world around you, now why were you walking by my house at 2:36 in the morning today?" "If you don't have to tell me things then I don't have to tell you things." "You are incorrect, the information about Patton does not pertain to you but the information about why you saw the lights on in my treehouse does pertain to me." "Fine, I was taking a late-night stroll happy now? And I am going to class. Maybe you should try designing a rocket launcher next for fun since that is all you do anyways." I just sigh knowing that arguing with him while he is in this state is pointless because he can't think rationally.

I decide to spend my time before I head to class sketching the rocket launcher idea that Virgil gave me, and figuring out which chemical compounds would be most effective for it. This is all theoretical of course, I mean I would love having real-world data but that would be extremely dangerous to retrieve. It would actually be rather easy to get the data since our school's dispensary has everything I would need.
Class, as usual, was incredibly easy even though I am taking all AP university-level courses. Many people have speculated that I am totally omniscient, which I am not I simply have a photographic memory and an IQ that is much higher than average. I actually currently maintain the highest IQ recorded for someone who isn't totally omniscient, 266 which is 3 points above the previous record-holder Ainan Celeste Cawley. Considering the fact that I am only a senior in high school is rather impressive but I did break the record when I was 5 so that adds to the factors, I simply haven't gotten tested in many years.
I remain attending a high school for the social aspects, my parents didn't want any part of my development stunted due to my intellect. So I spend my free time formulating concepts and designs for often dangerous tools that are rather complex and doing mixed martial arts as it allows me to be in peak physical condition as well as peak mental condition. Many people would expect someone with an IQ as high as mine to only care for their brain, however, I believe that to maintain a high IQ you need to strengthen all aspects of your life and explore all areas.
I decide to pull out my design tools to aid in my designing as I have already finished my work for this semester. Since I am in chemistry I decide to use the contained space for more dangerous experiments to test a theory of mine that should work, I take a small vial of coagulated blood from my bag, and mix it with a few chemicals and then sprinkle it on a Bunsen burner which makes a small explosion. As I theorized but I made it small enough so that it wouldn't damage anything. I clean up and head over to my table to record my findings and finish my design.

Once lunch came around I met with Virgil again and handed him my design schematic so he could study them. I wholeheartedly agree with the idea that everyone should challenge their intellect but Virgil has always been skilled at building things and following lab instructions so I don't comprehend why he needs my designs but if he finds them to be fascinating then I am satisfied with allowing him to study them.
I pull out my perfectly balanced meal and watch to see if Virgil brought food, as usual, he didn't. "It is extremely unhealthy to skip meals, Virgil." He rolls his eyes at me. "I forgot to bring lunch it's fine." I had planned for this, I pull out another meal this one much smaller as he won't eat much of it anyway and there is no point in wasting food. "Here now eat before I have to force-feed you," I say it completely seriously because he knows that I will do it, my concerns for his health are too great. "Fine but only because I don't want your hands in my mouth." He says laughing a little bit. "Hey you actually flavoured it this time, to be fair only with cayenne but you are improving Logan!" He adds after taking a small bite. "There is no point in adding extra things to the meal once it is balanced, however, I realized that it makes you more likely to eat it so I obliged." He smiles slightly. "You really care that much?" "Well, of course, I do, eating us a crucial thing for humans to do. Now eat the food because I know that it's 'fleek'" I say holding up a vocabulary card.

Outlook: The Stars (Consciousness Unbound Book 1)
The year is 2152. Rune Yahui is a nineteen-year-old failure, not having gained entrance to college or the military, with no significant prospects in life. Even worse, Rune is the poorest of the poor, hailing from the mega-slums of New Southern Chicago, the lowest pit of America. In a desperate last-ditch attempt to gain a future more lustrous than toiling the rest of his days away in abhorrent conditions in one of the near sweat-shop level factories that dot the megapolis, Rune signs up for the Virtual Citizen program, a program to cull the excessive world population by transferring just their brains into a video game. In a stroke of rare luck, Rune is admitted into the program and happily submits himself to the surgery and digitization process. Unfortunately for him, he wakes up several hundred years later than he expected... or does he? **Author's Note** This isn't a type of story typical to RRL. You may have noticed LitRPG in the tags, but it's a relatively minor element in the story until later. You may also notice Slice of Life is in the tags. This story is going to be slow and there won't be any power tripping until way later if at all. The focus will be on character development. That doesn't mean I won't still have action/excitement, however. I encourage you to give the story a try. Maybe it will be your thing, maybe it won't. Thanks for even taking the time to read this, and if you do give my fiction a try, I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, well, I hope you find something that you do enjoy. Happy reading!
