《Lawfully Wedded》Chapter 9

I am officially Mrs. Rohan Mehra now. I tried not to hyperventilate at that thought as my hand was clasped around Rohan's.
My parents were looking at me with tear filled gazes as we got ready for the bidaai.
"Mom," I whispered as I hugged my mom and just like the other times, my dad and Sonia joined in as I cried around them.
According to many of my friends, being the elder child means they are not pampered as much as they should be but in my house, I am the most pampered child.
"Sanju," Sonia cried as she clung to me.
"Shhh honey, she's not leaving forever," dad said hoarsely as he pulled Sonia away from me.
"I know but dad--" she choked on a sob as she wrapped her arms around my mom.
My dad took my took my hand and led me to where Rohan was standing and placed my hand in his.
"Bye Sanju," dad said and I felt fresh tears welling in my eyes.
"Dad,"
"No, no more crying, okay?" He whispered as he held my face in his hands and kissed my forehead.
"I'll miss you papa,"
"I know babu," he said as I settled in the car.
"I'll see you soon sweetheart," he said and the car started moving. I stared as my dad's figure zeroed and until he was out of sight.
"Here," Rohan said as he offered me the tissues.
"T-thank you," I muttered as I wiped my eyes and blew my nose.
"You want water?" He asked softly as he looked at me.
"Yeah," and gulped down the water from the bottle.
As we reached his house, which was only 2 hours away from mine, I calmed myself and tried not to tear up.
"Come on," he said as he stepped out of the car and came to my side as he opened the door and helped me out.
As we were walking, I saw a few women, probably our age standing at the entrance of the villa.
"Bhaiya! Not gonna work, you need to carry her!" They said as they blocked the entrance.
"Disha, come on let's us in,"
"Nahi!" The women said. Rohan sighed and turned to stare at me, silently asking for permission and I nodded my head.
"Okay fine you stubborn women," he groaned and they swiftly picked me up.

We entered the house and did all the rituals before Rohan's mom, mom as she'd asked me to call her led me to Rohan's room which was now ours.
I quickly changed into something comfortable and lied down on the bed. As I heard Rohan approaching the room, I pretended to fall asleep.
"Sanj-- oh you're asleep already?"
"I'll tell you tomorrow then," he muttered and I was soon asleep.
°
"Sanjana darling what are you doing?"
"Making breakfast?" I asked and cringed at how stupid I sounded.
"Mhmm burnt pancakes?" Mom asked as she chuckled.
"I'm sorry--"
"Don't be, now go and sleep some more, you're awake too early,"
"7 is early?" I asked.
"Yes beta, now go and get some rest, you'd probably be tired and you will need some energy for the reception tonight,"
"Reception?!"
"My son didn't tell you?"
"No,"
"That good for nothing son," mom said as she shook her head.
"No, it was probably because I was asleep,"
"Ok you can go and rest and if you're hungry you can grab some fruits to eat, since the pancakes are burnt," she said.
"For that I'm really sorry,"
"Sanjana,"
"Hmm?"
"You are not expected to cook everyday okay? You want you can cook every now and then under provision, I'm sorry but I don't want you to burnt he kitchen down, but don't think you're expected to do so okay?"
"Okay,"
"And if you want to impress my son, no need, he already seems to adore you," she said with a smile and I felt heat creeping up my cheeks and next and I quickly took an apple and rushed out of the kitchen.
I walked in the room to find Rohan sleeping on the sofa uncomfortably.
"Rohan," I called as I shook him.
"Five more minutes," he grumbled and snuggled closer to his pillow.
Ah we have a cuddler.
"Rohan,"
"What?" He grumbled as he squinted his eyes open and stared at me.
"Oh, hi my beautiful wife,"
"Go and sleep on the bed, you seem uncomfortable,"
"Thank you so much!" He said and walked over to the bed only to stub his toes.
"Ah fuck!" He cried out and with his eyes closed he rubbed his toes as he rolled in the bed.

"My goodness," I whispered as I shook my head.
°
"Sanju!" I heard Sonia's voice and soon I was engulfed in her arms as she squeezed me.
"I missed you too Sonu,"
"I hate Rohan for taking you away from me,"
"Pagal,"
"Now let's get ready for the reception, I've got the perfect gown for you, and you need to do make up and oh my god we only have four hours,"
"Sonu! We have four hours,"
"So less time,"
"My god, why am I surrounded by idiots?" I grumbled under my breath as Sonia tugged me into the bathroom and forced me into the gown.
After four gruesome hours, Sonia finally let me rest.
"Fucking hell! So much pulling and tugging on my hair, I'm scared I might've gone bald,"
"See for yourself then," Sonia said with a goofy smile and handed me the mirror and I was mesmerized.
"Yeah, thank me some day," Sonia said as she put the eye-liner on her eyes.
"Thank you Sonu,"
"Chalo, now we need to go to the hall as well,"
We sat in the car and the driver drove us to the hall.
As we walked out, Rohan was there to receive us and when he looked at me, his mouth hung open as he stared at me.
"Mouth closed jiju, don't want any mosquitoes now do we?" Sonia said as we walked hand-in-hand.
"Y-you look gorgeous,"
"Thank you," I said as I stared at me. We were matching. Of course we were matching, I know Sonia would have set that up for us.
"Offo Sanju, you need to compliment him as well, goodness you awkward human being," she said as she walked away.
"You look good too," I squeaked out and Rohan chuckled before offering me his hand. I placed my hand in his and let him guide me to the stage.
"We didn't invite many people," he said as we settled down and I nodded my head.
From my side it was only mom, dad and Sonia, our other relatives weren't really invited. We cut ties from them 8 years ago. Not liked we really even talked before that, they thought that we girls were a disappointment since we were so pampered and everything.
As people came and we clicked pictures with them, I grew tired with the heavy jewellery and the heels.
"I need to sit down," I said to Rohan as I sat down.
As soon as I settled down, someone approached us. I immediately stiffened as I stood up on my feet. Rohan must have noticed the way I was staring at him because he came and stood before me. I clutched his tuxedo as I calmed my uneven breathing.
"Shalini, what are you doing here?" I heard dad's voice and I relaxed a little.
"What? My niece is married and you didn't even invite me?" Her voice was sickly sweet as she emphasised in the word niece.
"Shalini, don't do this alright? Come on out and we'll talk okay?" Mom said, almost begging.
"Why won't you let me meet my niece? Or doesn't she also want to meet her favourite aunt?"
I could feel myself getting light-headed as I heard her voice. My mind seemed to be playing games with me as I heard other voices as well. I let out a strangled noise and Rohan turned around as he stared at me.
Tears were welling in my eyes as I was trembling. My blood was pounding in my ears as my heart beat fastened.
"Shit!" Rohan hissed. He cradled my face in his hands and started saying something, I couldn't make out the words as his lips moved.
Breathe. Sanjana. It's okay. Come on.
He might've been saying this words, I looked around and noticed that Shalini was nowhere to be seen, that eased me a little.
"Sanjana,"
"Sanjana, breathe come on," I could now make out what he was saying. I tried to breathe but my lungs felt full and it was difficult for me to breathe.
Soon enough I was able to find my breath and I started gasping for breath as I coughed.
"Oh thank god," he whispered and then asked for a water bottle.
He settled me down on the chair and kneeled in front of me and with the help of a napkin wiped my sweat.
"All okay?" He whispered.
"Y-yeah, I'm sorry for that," I said.
"Nonsense! Don't be sorry okay?" He said softly and then wrapped his arms around me. I tensed at the contact but then relaxed as I closed my eyes.
