Hiccup's POV
"Hnn..." I grumble as the morning sun makes me from my peaceful slumber. I haven't slept that well in ages. I stretch and yawn, then I get up and wake the other riders.
"Come on Hiccup...just a few more minutes..." Astrid groggily groans.
"We can't waste any time Astrid, the village will be wondering where we are." I quietly say to her. That seems to have done the trick. She grumbles and then gets up and stretches, I go wake the other riders.
"It was hard for me to get to sleep last night, I was so excited for what else we might find on this island!" Fanboy's Fishlegs.
I chuckle to myself and wake the twins, Astrid wakes up Snotlout.
"Wraa..." Yawns Toothless.
"You look tired, hard time sleeping huh?" I comment to Toothless.
He gives me the look that says 'What do you think?'.
Eventually, everyone wakes up and we start talking about what to do today over breakfast.
"Fish, seriously?! We might as well turn into fish ourselves!" Pouts Ruffnut tiredly.
"It was all we could find, so you'll have to deal with it. Unless you would rather starve." Responds Astrid sharply.
With that Ruffnut goes quiet and eats without another peep.
"I think we should just go home, I bet there's nothing interesting here anyway." Complains Snotlout.
"Even if we don't find anything special, we know Toothless was drawn here so there must be something about this place that he likes at least." Fishlegs states, proud of his knowledge.
We finish breakfast an start walking. But this walk isn't as quiet as it was yesterday, there are twig snaps here and there and the leaves rustle un-naturally.
"Hey guys, look at this!" Tuffnut calls from behind.

"What is it?" Fishlegs asks, exited.
"Probably nothing, you know him." Snotlout states smugly.
"Actually Snotlout, it isn't nothing. It's dragon tracks!" Astrid exclaims.
"Hmm, I know I've seen these before but I can't put my finger on it..." Fishlegs talks to himself.
Toothless nudges me, I guess he wants to follow them.
"Let's follow them guys, it looks like Toothless wants to." I state and they all nod and start following the tracks.
Toothless's POV
I am walking silently, paying attention to the tracks in front of me. I know we shouldn't follow them but if it helps me find out why I feel a connection to this place then we have to take the chance of running into another dragon.
"Why are we following these again?" Asks Hookfang, bored.
"Because if these tracks lead to something that can help me find out what it is with this place then we have to follow them." I respond, clearly concentrated.
"You mean YOU have to, I don't want to have anything to do with these tracks." Meatlug states. She looks a little scared, she, like Fishlegs, must recognize these tracks from somewhere. A bad recognize that gives out a bad feeling.
20 minutes later...
"I'm getting hungry, let's turn back." Stormfly complains, her belly rumbling slightly.
"Not yet, we're close I can feel it!" I say quickly. We cant turn back now, not yet!
"Me and Barf agree with Stormfly, we're getting hungry and feel like we should turn back!" Belch argues.
"Just wait a little lon-" I am cut off by a loud rustling of leaves and snapping twigs.
I look around frantically and so do the others, Hiccup takes out his sword, and the others their weapons.
Then suddenly, I remember the scent. Changewing. I should have known sooner!

"Alright, no sudden moves..." Hiccup half whispers.
Time seems to stand still. That is until acid is fired at us. Me and the others fire at the trees and the Changewings are forced out of hiding. Before you know it, we are firing everywhere. Meatlug and Fishlegs are trying to use dragon nip on the Changewings to make them docile. Snotlout and Hookfang are just firing wildly, Astrid and Stormfly are chasing them and shooting spines at them. The twins, and Barf and Belch are making rings of fire around the Changewings, making them have to fly up and out of the rings into plain sight of range for an attack. And finally, me and Hiccup and trying to back them back into the woods. However, this doesn't last for long because more Changewings show up and we are all surrounded. I stand protectively in front of Hiccup, I won't let them hurt him. I won't let them hurt him, NO MATTER WHAT. The Changewings ready their acid and we shut our eyes and wait for the impact. But it never comes. Instead we are all greeted with an ear splitting roar. We all look around for its source and then a large shadow dawns down over all of us. The Changewings get scared and fly off into the forest, leaving the rest of us here to deal with whatever made that noise. I look up to see who the shadow belongs to and I freeze on the spot. I tense up and I can tell the others do to. What I see are the same striking blue eyes I saw in my dream last night. Peering down at me, staring right into my eyes.

Meek
After failing as an apprentice cooper and a town guard, Eli finds his place at the Rockbridge archives. Sure, he's the oldest 'junior scribe,' but he likes the job. And he's good at it, too. Then he completes an apparently-insignificant project, and the brutal reaction shocks him--with consequences that eventually shake the world. Eli gains powers. Rare and inhuman abilities. He progresses slowly, steadily, and not without setbacks. He changes, too. Is he a hero, a villain, a human, a monster? Depends who you ask. Meek is an epic fantasy with elements of progression. The basic magic is simple: five Paths, each with a different powerset. However, complexity arises from combinations, and the protagonist wields a magic all his own. Meek is set in the Valley, the only (as far as anyone knows) human empire that survived a Final Battle against a terrible foe. The Valley is warded against infiltration, but the enemy learned how to warp human souls, to foment discord within. However, another soul is also ... changed. Perhaps even 'warped.' And that soul is starting on a long (long, long) path that might, one day, prove that the Final Battle wasn't so final after all.

The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Orson Gregory is an adventurer for hire, but hunts this treasure for answers, not glory. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.

Patchwork System
Notification (cannot be ignored): For being the first being to kill another of its own species after Sublimation, Lyam Aldren is awarded the Title of Cain’s Successor. Let all fear the Kinslayer!!! Lyam Aldren, killer for hire, was just going about his business when he suddenly received a notification from something called the System. Apparently, the entirety of Earth, its denizens and its matter were transported into the world of the System, planted in 'patches' all throughout the infinite world. The world of the Patchwork System is one of challenges, where life is cheap, power is king, and Classes and levels are a thing. In a brutal world, there is perhaps room for a killer with bloodstained hands to find his own way, free of his past. However, his Title and his inherent nature plague him, his fragmented personality laid bare to those with the eyes to see, and if he doesn't become powerful enough to defeat or escape those who would use or destroy him, he will quickly be devoured by the merciless world created by the System. Compared to my previous work, this is a more 'classic' litrpg setup, with clear (if somewhat complex) progression through levels and skill gains, with a 'system apocalypse' setup. Unlike most system apocalypse story protagonists, Lyam is neither a leader nor is he particularly interested in saving his fellow Earthlings. This is a story of a man who is both endangered and set free by the destruction of his old world, as he finds both power, new discoveries, and adventure in a place where his past matters not at all and power is the only language most speak. Later in the story, there will be harem elements, but the first volume is dedicated to Lyam's first months in the System. For those who are more interested in the Heirs of the Hooded King, I am putting it on hiatus as I rework the setting and future story developments a bit.
