《Their Human》Chapter thirty five: trust me

After Sei finished comforting me from the aftermath of the trainwreck of reality that hit me, I finally got enough strength to go freshen up in the bathroom while he spent some time by himself. Just like me, it was pretty clear that his mind was in shambles and he was probably waiting for Silas so they could discuss the problem.

Silas did eventually return while I was still soaked in the large bathtub. I could hear his deep voice. It made me feel all sorts of things. Hearing him saying my name was the best part of all... Although I did not like it when he lost his temper. He seemed to do that a lot too.

"We need to comfort her." Sei said. I stepped out of the bathtub and wrapped a towel around my body, listening to their conversation. I had no doubt that they knew that I was listening but I didn't care. I needed to hear what Silas thought about this whole thing.

"What's wrong?" He asked softly, the sound of his footsteps heading towards the closet.

"She think she will die."

"We won't let that happen though, she knows that."

"She also think there is no way we will last."

"What the hell are you going on about?" Silas sighed. I squeezed the water out of my hair, still listening carefully.

"If they find out she is our mate, they will kill her."

"They won't find out."

"But then she be a secret forever... And the truth always come out."

"So what? You want us to come clean about her being human? That's as good as killing her."

"Maybe we should not be king." Sei said, his voice softening. There was silence for a few seconds.

"No. We can't throw this opportunity away. This is our chance to take control as hybrids. It's what our kind has been waiting for. The demons, wolves and especially hybrids are all counting on us."

"Akielia is worth losing it all," Sei said, making me look at the floor. "I love her." He admitted to his brother.

"I love her as much as you do, but we cannot abandon everything. If she loves us, she'll understand."

"So all we can do is keep a secret?"

"For now it's our only option. We will figure something out. We always do."

I held the towel around my body and stepped out of the bathroom, heading for the closet. I did not look at either of them but I felt their burning hot stares on different areas of my body. I walked into the closet, picking an oversized blue shirt and large shorts. Quickly, I slipped them on and went back into the main bedroom.

Silas looked at my outfit with amusement, "You just love wearing our clothes, don't you?"

"Well, it's not like I have much of my own to wear. Seriously, when am I going to get things I need? My period is starting soon." I told them, combing my hair with my fingers.

"What's a period?" Silas asked boredly, walking to the door. "and we'll let you go in a while, just when this whole ordeal dies down."

"I need it faster than that. Underwear, pads, skin lotion, shampoo." That was just the bare minimum too. I needed a lot more.

"Tell your period to wait." Sei said, following his twin brother outside.

"How the heck do I tell blood to not flow!?" I asked loudly, lifting my arms up dramatically. I groaned when I did not receive an answer, meaning that they had left. Great, just great. They didn't even escort me to dinner this time. I shook my head and walked out of the bedroom, walking in the direction of the dining room.

I was about to go down the stairs when I heard a voice calling me. If it did not ask me to stop, I would have bolted down the stairs while screaming.

"Akielia, is it alright if I spoke with you for a moment?" Alexander said. I pointed my finger at him and gave him a warning look. "If you step any closer, I will scream and the twins will snap your neck off."

"Don't you think that if they wanted to do that they would have?" He asked me, making me slowly drop my hand. What the hell did that mean? "Look, I'm not here to hurt you. I don't want to ever do that to you."

"Really because you seemed to enjoy it when you nearly sucked me dry." I spat at him. He sighed, putting his hands into the pockets of his grey chino pants. He was wearing a white dress shirt, having unbuttoned the first three buttons. The sleeves were rolled up, showing his veiny hands and arms.

Curse this man for being sexy.

"I lost control, which is why I want us to speak. Will you come see me tonight?" He asked me. He looked genuinely sorry about it, his face showing one of guilt and remorse. That did not change that I was traumatized from what he did and I was certainly not a fool. I wasn't just going to agree to meeting him after what he did.

"I will not do that, I don't trust you."

"I understand, cherry pie. I will be waiting for you anyways, just in case you change your mind." He stepped closer, making me quickly step back. Getting the message that I didn't want him near me, he nodded. "Right, I'm sorry. Have a good evening, Akielia." With that, he walked down the hall, disappearing a few seconds later.

I stood there dumbfounded. He did not threaten me and he did not even make his red eyes glow in that creepy manner. He seemed completely sincere in everything he said and did. I shook my head and quickly walked down the stairs. There was no way I was going there tonight.

No way...

I'm definitely not considering it.

Nope.

I pushed the double doors of the dining room and walked in to find everyone else already seated. The food was still being served and by the smell of it, it was going to be another amazing meal. No one paid any mind to me as I walked to my seat. I guess they got used to me being here. I greeted everyone softly, only receiving a response from Goliath and Sapphire.

"You're with me tonight, right baby?" Sapphire asked her husband. Goliath looked down at his cup and nodded, putting a teabag inside it.

"Lovely, I can't wait to make love to you. It's been too long." She said, kissing his cheek.

Too bad she's cheating on you, I thought to myself. Well, I assumed it was to myself until Silas stared at me with wide eyes. Sei dropped his fork and choked on air, also turning to look at me.

These idiots need to stop reading my mind for goodness sake.

"I have some big news." Sofia said, looking at the twins. Silas cleared his throat and stopped looking at me and Sei dabbed his mouth with a napkin.

"Tomorrow is the day everything will be decided. The heads of each house will all come here and a competition will be held to see who is worthy of ruling." She explained excitedly. Sapphire looked at the spot where Alexander usually sat, her eyebrows furrowing at his absence.

"Your intelligence and physique will be tested and the twelve heads will vote. When the last two or three remain, they will have to fight and the winner will get the crown. Isn't this all exciting?"

Sofia has a very strange definition of the word 'exciting'.

"Why here?" Sapphire asked.

"We have the best land for these challenges and also the biggest. It is our duties as wives to be good hosts and please our guests."

"That's okay. I just wish that this did not have to be such short notice. Tomorrow is only a few hours from now." Sapphire mumbled, playing around with her vegetables.

We all ate silently after that, Sofia trying to make small talk here and there. I wondered if I would be allowed to watch the event happening tomorrow. There's going to be all creatures from around the island and I'm curious to find out how each of them look and act.

"Akielia, do you have any plans tonight?" Sapphire asked me, making me look up from my empty plate. I picked up a glass of water and shrugged.

"Not really, I was just going to stay in." It's not like I'm permitted to do otherwise.

"That's great. If you don't mind, would you help me sort out this place for tomorrow? I promise you won't have to do any hard labour."

I looked at the twins, silently asking them for their input on this. Sapphire was a vampire, what if she fed on me like her sin did.

Sapphire looked between us and chuckled softly, "My bad, I forget that the twins are the ones in control of what you do. Silas, Sei , is it okay if she helps me out for a while?"

"I don't see why not." Silas said, looking at his brother. Sei nodded at Sapphire, making her clap her hands excitedly. "Perfect, this will be fun. Trust me."

I scowled to myself, feeling offended at Sapphire's words. They are in control of me? Why would she say something like that?
