《Their Human》Chapter thirty six: the girls

When dinner ended, the twins kissed me goodnight and everyone else went their separate ways for the night. I was stuck with Sapphire for a couple of hours and I felt a tad bit uncomfortable with her.

"Oh stop being so tense, I don't bite." She told me for the third time. We were standing outside, sorting out the area where the competition would take place. Sofia was busy inside with the food, maids and other stuff.

I relaxed my shoulders, giving the vampire a tight lipped smile. Her telling me that she did not bite was not helping at all because I knew from the marks on Damien's body that it was not true. As much as I would like to question her about him, it was not my place to do so. I'm already disliked by the first wife, it's better to stay in Sapphire's good books.

I might need her someday.

"I'm okay," I told her, looking around the large empty field. The moonlight shone brightly, allowing me to see everything clearly. "What are we here to do?"

"I'm here to command people to decorate this place and make it competition worthy. You have another task that I feel suits you best." She said, looking down at me. She was super slender and tall, probably more than six feet but she still managed to wear high heels and be shorter than her husband.

"What task is that?" I asked, following her to a small door at the side of the mansion.

"Alexander was supposed to do it but I figured that he might need a little bit of help." She said with a distressed sigh. I closed my eyes when I heard his name. "He's in here?" I asked hesitantly.

"Yes, I hope you won't mind helping him. You are just the best person for the job." She asked me, placing her hand over her non-existent heart. I couldn't believe it. Sapphire was trying to get me alone with Alexander! Did he ask her to do this?

"I do not think it's a good idea... Sei and Silas would smell him on me and that would start drama none of us need." I told her, staring right into her eyes.

"Why would they smell him? It's not like you're going to be touching Alex or anything. Right?" She asked me with a small smirk. My mouth gaped open.

This woman—

"R-right of course! That is not what I meant." I quickly said, my cheeks flushing. Sapphire raised her eyebrows at me and smiled, "exactly, so why would they get angry at something they don't have to worry about?"

I looked away. She has no idea that her son fed on me and that the twins want to murder him. At the same time, I can't help but think that she's trying to play match maker with me and Alexander.

"You're aware that I'm human, right?" I asked her softly. She nodded at me, her smile not fading. "So why do you want me closer to your son?"

"Darling... You have every right to say no to helping him but just know that I will not be answering to you anytime soon, okay?"

"Oh... Sorry." I apologized, my shoulders slumping. "It's not that I don't want to help him. He did something that hurt me and I just can't seem to trust him right now."

Sapphire nodded in understanding, "Let him make it up to you then."

But that's the problem Sapphire, I can't. Sei and Silas would be devastated.

She placed her hand on my shoulder, her red eyes staring into my soul. "Sei and Silas are the reason aren't they? They don't like him?"

I nodded slowly, starting to understand why she said what she did earlier. That they were controlling me. It's not that they tell me to stay away from him or make me, it's that everything I do has to be for them. That's why she thought that.

"Let me educate you since I'm feeling tipsy. Whenever you think of another man besides the twins, do you feel any sort of disgust or fear?" She asked me.

"Yeah..." I answered her, thinking back to the disgust I felt when I spoke to Damien and the fear I felt talking to Goliath or Kaiser when I first met them. Goliath is beyond attractive, and he is powerful. After he took care of me that night, it wouldn't have been a surprise if I started crushing on him but I didn't. I was thinking about the twins the whole time.

There wasn't any specific reason why I felt that, I just did.

"Now think about Alexander, have you ever felt either of those feelings with him?"

I bit my lower lip, trying to think of any fear or disgust. I was definitely afraid of him when he threatened me... But I still went to his room at night. I was afraid when he bit me... But I'm still considering talking to him. I never felt any repulsion with him, in fact, I think he's really attractive and his personality is great. He just needs to work on his manners and anger just like the twins do.

"The mate bond applies to half and full wolves but that does not mean that there is a restriction. It's rare but your soul can accept another person... Someone who isn't restricted to the mate bond."

"What are you saying to me, Sapphire? That Alexander is also my soulmate?"

There was a long dreadful silence after that, only the sounds of crickets chirping in the distance filled my ears. Sapphire looked up at the sky and grinned, "just take care of my son, Akielia. That's all I wanted you to know." She said.

This can not be real.

It can't be...

"Have fun!" She chirped, speeding off into the dark. I stood there by myself, feeling absolutely flabbergasted. This was not seriously happening. There was no way that he was also my soulmate, a whole vampire. How did this mate stuff even work? Was it supposed to be this way? Vampires don't have soulmates right? How is he one then? Why? How?

"You're going to get eaten if you keep standing there by yourself."

I jumped up, my soul almost leaving my body. I clawed my chest in attempt to calm my heart and glared at Alexander, who was leaning against the doorframe.

"You scared me!" I shouted at him angrily.

"You're the one who did not hear me because of your miserably weak senses. What are you even doing here?"

"Your mother said you needed my help with whatever you're doing." I told him, crossing my arms. He rolled his eyes.

"I finished a few hours ago. Besides, what good would you do? You aren't a vampire."

I knew Sapphire was lying about him needing me!

"Actually, why don't you come in and tell me if I picked the right girls for tomorrow." He said, walking back inside. He's picking girls?

I followed him down a dark hall, leading us into a dimly lit room. My eyes widened when I saw a bunch of women, all varying in age, seated on the floor in absolutely zero clothing. They were chatting about casually, some laughing at something.

"What is this?" I asked Alexander, staring at the women. They quieted down and looked at Alexander and I, not bothering to hide their private parts in the presence of a male vampire. Some seemed to even spread their legs for him.

"Tomorrow's guest list consists of mainly men. Most of them feed on fresh blood so I was asked to choose the best." Alexander said.

"And how do you do that?" I asked, looking at the women. I made eye contact with Sharlene in the crowd and next to her was Melissa. They were both staring at Alexander as if they were the ones who were going to be feeding on him.

"I taste their blood, not too much though. Just enough to decide whether to keep them or not." He pointed at one group on the left. "They are the chosen ones. They have the best one."

This is so messed up

I looked at the group, it had about twelve girls. How were twelve women going to feed all of those guests?

"The rest are rejects, so they'll be satisfying the men in other ways." Alexander said.

"Sex, I'm assuming." I mumbled. He looked at me and nodded, his eyes observing me from head to toe.

"Hey! Why is she not here? She's human too!" Sharlene asked, pointing at me. The other women started mumbling to themselves, also wondering the same thing.

Melissa gasped, "wait, she's human? But she's dating hybrids. Isn't that against the law?"

More mumbling filled the room, making my heart hammer loudly. This is bad, this is really bad. No one else was supposed to know that I'm human... If these girls complain about it, the other creatures will find out and I'll be killed.

I looked at Alexander in panic, not knowing what to do. At that moment, I heard Sei's voice speaking in my head.

'Baby, what's wrong? Why are you afraid?'

"Silence!" Alexander boomed, making the whole room get quiet. The women looked at me like how an angry poor person would look at a billionaire, full of envy.

"Melissa, it's not a good idea for you to spread rumors like that about hybrids." Alexander scolded.

"But it's not a rumor! Kaiser told me and he's a demon!"

"I was there!" Sharlene added.

"Bloody hell, that fool always has to start something." Alexander cursed under his breath.

"Explain or else we will complain to the head!" Melissa said, making the other women cheer in agreement.

'baby, please talk to us. Where are you?' Silas begged me.

"Get out, Rutherford." Alexander said, rolling up his sleeves.

"What? And go where—"

"Now." Alexander said, his eyes turning into a scorching red. I shut my mouth and sped out of there, closing the door behind me. Closing it did not block out the sounds of many loud screams that came from the room afterwards.

I gulped, one thing for certain was that those women would never question Alexander again.

'I am outside, please come get me.'

Hope you enjoyed the chapter
