It had been a long day for Hyewon and the others. Jake and Jay courted the three girls to Hara's car to make sure that they were okay. Soojin and Hara were still worried and insisted on dropping Hyewon off to her apartment. And so, they did.
Hyewon sighed in relief as she dipped into the bathtub she prepared. It was a well-deserved relaxation. with her confusing and questionably fast feelings between her and Jake, to the things Sunghoon said to her. Everything just exhausted her.
What Sunghoon said... She was reminded of it again. Tears were once again on the verge of falling. She closed her eyes and let the cool water soothe her.
What happened? What's the true reason as to why she really ran away earlier?

The day was gloomy. with the darkest skies comes the showering rain and the streaks of lightning. Little Hyewon ran quickly with her yellow boots, trails of footsteps marked on the slippery mud.
The hood of her raincoat was falling as the harsh wind pushed it back. She was also losing her grip on the umbrella she was holding due to the wind. Little Hyewon was running towards her home after her class was dismissed. The rain was unexpected, since she left her school on a sunny day.
After almost slipping for a hundred times, she finally made it to the front gate of her home. Her little voice called as she unlocked the front gate. Hyewon pushed it open and ran towards the front door.
She then left her umbrella by the wall and took her boots off. After that, she finally pushed the wooden door open.
The antic house is unusually silent. Usually, her mother would be there already to greet her with the warmest hug. However, today, only the strong rain crashing through the window panes were heard along with the thunder. It was dark, and only the occasional light of the lightning was seen.

Little Hyewon exclaimed as she slowly strides to the hallways of her home. She searched through her room, the kitchen, and to the common toilet. But still, there were no signs of anyone.
Her parents would never leave home without anyone to look for their daughter, her parents were always home! Little Hyewon went upstairs and hesitated to open the largest room, her parents' bedroom.
She was always forbidden to enter her parents' room, but it wouldn't be bad if she checked for them there, right? After all, she was starting to feel scared.
Little Hyewon leaned her head sideways at the wooden door, and much to her relief, she heard a faint noise coming from the bedroom. but it wasn't the sound she expected.
The sound she heard is similar to a vase breaking. And just then, another loud thud erupted. What is that? Soon, a piercing scream was heard. little Hyewon's chest raised up and down out of an unexplainable nervousness.
Poor little girl, she was too young to understand what was happening... Too young to realise what might've been going on beyond the wooden door.
Little Hyewon opened the door and the sight she saw before her eyes... her. She wished to close her eyes and run, but her body betrayed her. her eyes shook out of fear yet she was frozen in the spot.
Her father exclaimed as soon as he saw her daughter's little body at the doorway. The scene before Hyewon was utterly horrifying.
Blood stained the white sheets of her parents' shared bed. Her father held her poor, bloodied mother by the neck. It could be seen that her mother was barely breathing, but her eyes were in shock as she saw her precious daughter witnessing such things.
Little Hyewon screamed as she ran to her mother, but her little body was harshly thrown back to the ground. She hit her head by the cabinet, and her body created a loud thud. It was absolute torture to her mother, to see her only daughter suffering.

Her father wasn't who he was. Right now, he is a monster. He had forgotten every trace of humanity in him. and his eyes were glimmering like nothing but a merciless killer.
Hyewon's mother tried her best to protect her daughter. But sadly, her efforts are put to waste. There's nothing she can do against a savage beast whom she used to call the love of her life. Hyewon's father took the broken shard of vase from their bedside table and slashed right through his wife's neck. blood oozed out and she closed her eyes, now unconsciously laying by the soft mattress of their bed, Hyewon's mother is .
But the next happening bewildered little Hyewon. Just as if another person took over her father's body, he looked at his wife's lifeless body with terrified eyes. Hyewon's father asked in great horror.
He looked at his hand, only to see the shard he used to cut his wife's throat just a second ago. His face went pale as his eyes shook in fear. He killed her wife, .
His eyes travelled from his dead wife's body, to her daughter's shaking one. He told little Hyewon. He tried walking closer to her, but to no avail, the poor girl was sitting with eyes wide open, her poor mind trying to process what she saw.
She couldn't hear anything, she couldn't feel anything, the only thing she knows is that in front of her, lies her loving mother, dead.
Her father picked her up, crying as they went towards the living room. Little Hyewon was paralyzed by her own thoughts, but once she came out of her senses, she tried to break free of her father's grip.
She exclaimed as the father cried. She cried, desperately punching her father's back. Her father ignored his daughter's cries, picking the phone up and calling his sister.
He, too, was crying. He wanted to comfort his daughter badly, but he couldn't. Right now, he is the monster that she is scared of. He doesn't trust himself to keep his beloved daughter safe in his arms for long. What if he comes out of his senses again?
ㅤ
He exclaims as little Hyewon wails louder.

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
