wrong words, wrong actions

life full of failures

and bad decisions

is your whole existence

just one big mistake

if so, is mine the same

time changes and shifts and moves

but do people and matter

do the same

or are we just puppets

trapped in the burning flame

within our hearts

that urges us to do better

be better

or to be consumed

from the inside out

helpless to stop it

you hold out a helping hand

just to take me down with you

to experience our non-existence

together

I don't want to become you

though it's been set

but I have to wonder

did you ever wish

to become me

or did you try

to claw your way out

of this miserable state

did you tear and bite

and fight everything

that tried to dictate you

or did you resign

and accept your fate

were you perhaps even happy

I don't want to be you

yet I don't want to be

anything else

indecisive, decisions-making

idiot on the verge of madness

a non-believer

calling out to God

I refuse to be told

what to believe in

still, I do need instructions, directions

otherwise I'm lost

how can I be lost

when I don't have a place

to go back to

there is not a place

from which I come

no memories, no existence, no certainty

there is only me and me and me

and the ever-continuous

never-stopping flow of

time
