《Abominable King》Chapter 259: Eat Your Greens

As she monitored her next target, Alexis felt the presence of her husband rapidly approaching. This was odd because she didn’t expect him to have taken time off from whatever he had been doing as of late just to have some fun with her. Still, many hands made for light work, and she was more than willing to share the carnage with him.
As he reached her, she noticed that he had a look of concern on his face rather than one more suited for the slaughter that was soon to happen. Well, it didn’t matter. Maybe he was just concerned that she would take something he wanted for himself. Too bad, though. In a feast like this, it was first come, first served.
“Lexi, you need to stop this.”
Alexis didn’t understand. Stop? Why should she stop? These mere pieces of meat and sacks of blood needed to be consumed! To just leave them alone would be wasteful!
“Lexi, stop. You need to get back in control of your mind. That thing is starting to come out, and we both know that if it does get out it can and will stop at nothing to devour even the universe itself.”
And? What was the problem with that? The life essence of everything here was already getting her rather hungry, so what would be the problem with going to that final place and just eating everything? Yes, that would be nice. A final, glorious feast. This current form would not be able to let her drain the fabric of existence itself completely, it would be far too slow. Yes, it was time to go all the way.
She was about to begin her final transformation when her husband delivered a heavy blow to her back. The grotesque mass of flesh, chitin, and various limbs and mouths bucked as Kain smashed her from the air to the ground with enough force to cause a minor localized earthquake. However, she got up quickly and screeched loud enough to instantly kill all flesh-and-blood beings within a certain distance from herself. How dare he stop her feast?! Did he not love her?!

She lashed out with indiscriminate magical attacks while launching herself into the sky towards her husband. If he wouldn’t let her eat what she wanted and when she wanted, then she would eat him! She was so hungry, and nothing that could exist in this world would sate her increasingly boundless appetite.
…
Kain closed his eyes and sighed as the magical bullet hell erupted from his wife. When she took to the air and lunged at him, he initially wanted to just tank whatever it was that she wanted to do. However, as the main mouth of her increasingly massive and eldritch monster form opened large enough to be able to swallow a decently-sized young adult, he quickly decided that evasion was the better course of action.
He needed to end this fight fast or risk her truly going all the way to her final, apocalyptic form. If that thing ever made its way into reality, then there was little, if anything that even he could do to keep it from ending the entire universe, one star system at a time. If that ‘Swarm Queen’ was big enough to be called a small Kaiju, then her final, monstrous and aberrant form was big enough and terrible enough to put a Thing-infested Shin Gojira to shame.
If it got out, then it would drain not just this planet of all ability to sustain any kind of entities (living and undead alike), but once done it would go on to devour the other planets and moons, then the system’s star, followed thereafter by everything else. He could possibly sate that abomination’s hunger and thirst for long enough for her to regain her sanity and shift back to normal by offering his own immortal body up on a platter, but that would likely put him in a coma for decades at best.

He had a shot at keeping that thing under control right now, and the current method of using ‘tough love’ seemed like it could be enough to work. A few more punches and kicks here and there and he began to wear her out, though not nearly fast enough to keep her insanity from resuming control if he let up for even a second. As a result, he really had no other option than to simply go to town and hope that the beatdown would beat the crazy out of her. He didn’t like doing this, but it was either that or let her dig her fangs and other such things into him.
He figured that would leave him out of it for a few weeks at most, but those were not weeks that he could afford to lose. And so, the beating needed to continue until morale improved. Wait, not morale. The beating needed to continue until her sanity improved. That was the correct line.
With a few more heavy yet fast punches sending his demented wife back into the ground, this time burying her far deeper than before, the fight seemed to be over. He could feel her returning to her more humanoid form and more than that he could feel the absurd levels of insanity-driven bloodlust/ bloodthirst dropping like a bag full of bricks. Although, he did feel that something was wrong, but he couldn’t figure out what it was. Then again, when he buried her deep down into the ground, her shift hadn’t happened immediately.
Maybe she had found something down there that she had sunk her fangs into and drained dry, somehow sating that near animalistic form’s hunger faster than his beatdown could. Oh, well. It didn’t matter so long as she was back to normal.
…
Meanwhile, a certain oversized shrub with an even more oversized ego felt very, very weak. A single one of his roots had been drained dry in mere seconds. He was wise to have cut it off as quickly as he did, otherwise he would have gone from being a vibrant tree filled with greenery to a shriveled husk with nary a single leaf left on him.
