The next day, I got dressed in a light blue crop top with black shorts. Me and JJ we're currently sitting with our feet in the hot tub, our hands intertwined. Kie was testing the pulley thing we were gonna use to get the gold. It was already late afternoon and John B still wasn't home. "How's it feeling?" Pope asked her. "Feels good." Kie replied. "I'm taking you down." Pope said and started getting her down. "John B pullin a Houdini." JJ joked. "Yeah, where is he? I got my scholarship interview tomorrow morning. We gotta get this done." Pope said. Just then, John B came out from behind the tree, he was obviously mad. "Speak of the devil. Hey! Dude I set up the entire winch to pull the gold and everything." JJ told him. "No he did not. I did that." Pope said. "Hey, John B." I told him as he walked past us and into the house without saying a word. "Okay? That's it?" JJ asked. I let go of his hand and got out of the hot tub. "Uh, what's that all about?" Pope asked me as I walked to the house. "I was gonna ask you the same question." I replied and walked in. John B was rummaging through the drawers as I walked in. "Hey, John B. You alright? What are you looking for?" I asked. He ignored me and went to the living room. "Bro, what's going on, man?" JJ asked and walked closer to John B as he looked under the couch. John B turned around with the gun in his hand. "John B what do you need the gun for?" JJ asked and walked up to him. "Talk to us!" JJ said only to be thrown into the pull out by JB. "John B chill!" I yelled. "What are you doing?" Kie asked as John B ignored all of us and walked past us. Pope blocked the way only to be thrown away like JJ. "John Booker!" I yelled and ran after him out the door. He still ignored me and got on JJ's bike. "Hey!" I yelled and stood beside him as the rest of the Pogues came outside. "Ward knows about the gold." John B told us. He looked at me. "He killed dad." He said before divining off. I didn't want to chase him even though I knew he was going to do something stupid. I had thought that my dad died, I didn't believe he was alive as much as I wanted to, but it still hurt. Actually knowing now that he is definitely dead. Kie and Pope ran after him a little bit but then stopped, and JJ came up to me and put his hand on my lower back. I turned to him and buried my head into his chest while wrapping my arms around him. JJ wrapped his arm around me and I felt him kiss the top of my head. "He's actually gone." I said to no one in particular. JJ's arm tightened around me. After a while, I pulled away and looked at all of them. "He's gonna do something stupid. We have to find him." I told them. It was already dark outside, and they nodded. We got on the HMS and drove around. "Try Sarah's house." I said. Pope switched directions so he was going to Sarah's house. When we got to the docks, Pope docked by their yacht. "What now? We just go up to the front door and ask, 'Hey, have you seen John B?'" JJ asked. "Look, he lives at Tannyhill now. It's plausible. We can play dumb." Kie said. "Play dumb?" JJ asked. "It's pretty late." Pope said. He was right, the sun would be rising in a couple hours. "Look, I've never seen John B like that. And I've lived with him my entire life." I said. "We should honestly be going to the cops." Kie told us. "The cops? And say what Kie? We're worried about our friend because he's in a rampage because Ward Cameron killed Big John? Like they're gonna believe us." JJ asked. "Hey, I see Ward." Pope said as he looked through binoculars. "Let me see." I told him as I walked over to him. I looked through the binoculars to see Ward coming out of his house. My hatred for him was growing even more if it was possible. "Doesn't look dead to me. Let's go home." Pope said. I pulled down the binoculars. "What?" Kie asked. "Obviously, Mr. Cameron is fine, and even if John B was here, he isn't now, okay?" Pope replied. "Plus, I have the biggest most important moment of my life in six hours." Pope added. "Yeah, well our friend is in trouble." Kie replied. "I'm in trouble. Guys, I haven't been home in three days. My dads probably put all my shit on the street by now." Pope said. "Okay so thats it? In a time of need your just gonna bail? Your just gonna walk away?" Kie asked. "Okay, yo, guys, can we not do this right now?" JJ asked as I went and sat at the front of the boat, done with their fighting. "Hey, I have a scholarship interview in the morning." Pope said. "Okay, well, what about John B?" Kie cut him off. "Why is it always about John B?" Pope asked. "It's not always about John B. Your so stupid. It would be any of you in this situation." Kie replied. "Oh bullshit." Pope said. "This is about friendship!" Kie yelled. "Bring it down." JJ told them. "This is about Pogues for life." Kie said. "What about forensic pathology, huh?" Pope asked. "Forensic pathology?" Kie asked as she walked to be face to face with Pope. "It's my life. Everything I've worked for." Pope yelled. "That's your priority?" Kie asked. "Stop the moral high ground bullshit." Pope said. "Pope, come on." I said. "No. No, no. She has no room to talk. Where were you when Big John went missing? You weren't there. You weren't there for (Y/N) and John B. You weren't there for any of us. Remember your Kook year?" Pope told Kie. "Dude." JJ said, seeing my face. I was starting to get upset. Not just sad, angry. They were taking this too far. "Yeah, you forgot about us. Now you feel guilty." Pope continued. "Stop!" I yelled as loud as I could and stood up as they started pushing each other. "Neither if you have any right to talk about any of this! None of you know how it feels to loose your dad and then have your brother leave while he's fucking pissed and you don't know what's gonna happen! I don't know if he's gonna go to jail or leave the damn state! Yes, Kie did leave but she came back didn't she? And yes, you do have a scholarship interview tomorrow Pope. And guess what? Your gonna go to it and your gonna do great. You two have lives that are apparently more important than finding John B, so your gonna go. If I have to, I'll find him myself." I yelled and sat back down. JJ walked up to them and separated them, Kie going to the back and Pope coming to the front and sitting away from me. "Pope I'll drop you off." JJ told him as he started the engine. No one talked as we drove to Popes, him getting off, and then we went to Kie's, her getting off. JJ then drove to our house, and we walked inside the house. I sat down on the pullout, my feet on the ground and my elbows resting on my knees with my head in my hands. JJ sat down next to me. "He's going to be fine." JJ told me after a while. I looked up at him. "I promise." He said. I wrapped my arms around JJ's waist with my head resting on his chest. "Thank you." I said. "It's my job, right?" JJ replied. I looked up and kissed him. After a while, I pushed him down with his back in the pullout and then got on top of him. We didn't go very far and ended up falling asleep on the couch. When we woke up, it was the morning. I got ready, changing into a white crop top that tied at the bottom this time with black shorts that had a blue floral print on them. Me and JJ then went to the dock we're we saw John B laying. Kie soon came after and John B told us about how Ward had taken out all of the gold. "You sure he got everything?" Kie asked. John B was laying on the floor, Kie was sitting on the rail, and me and JJ were sitting in the rail, our backs against the wood. We were facing opposite ways, but our hands were still intertwined over the water. "Every bar. The whole enchilada." JB replied. He then took off his cast. "It's not like I expected a happy ending or some shit." JB said as he threw his cast. "John B." Kie told him. "What, Kie? It's a hairline fracture. Who cares?" John B asked. "You should care. Your arms gonna be messed up for life." Kie replied. "It's fine. See?" John B said and held up his hand, moving his fingers. "Guys! Guys!" Pope then yelled. We looked over to see him running down the dock. "Oh, God. I ran all the way here." He said as he got to us and bent over, resting his hands on his knees. "You all right?" I asked as he breathed heavily. "How was the interview Pope?" JJ asked. "Don't ask." Pope replied, still breathing heavily. "JB. Look, I'm sorry, dude. About everything." Pope said. "It's fine." JB replied. "But- but I don't have a lot of time, and I have information that is tactically relevant." Pope told us. "So, before I had my interview, my dad said he was going down to the private airstrip go cut palms for Cameron's big plane. Because it was too heavy and it needed a longer landing strip to take off. So, I'm there sitting in my interview, thinking to myself, 'Hm, why would Cameron need a longer airstrip to take off? What could be so heavy to weigh it down?'" Pope said. "Gold." I replied. "That's right." JB added. "Exactly. Guys, this is our chance, but it leaves tonight, and we have to go." Pope told us. "Guys, we cant give up now." Kie said and got off the rails. "What's the plan big man?" JJ asked. "We're gonna steal that shit back." JB replied. We all ran to the van, John B driving with Kie in the front with him. "We go in there, guns a blazing, make Ward Cameron beg for mercy, abscond with as much gold as possible and vámonos, get the hell out of there." JJ told us as he loaded his gun. "Send that shit right down the Intracoastal." I said. "Wait for the weather." Kie added. "Exit to Cuba." Pope said. "Cuba? Nah, man, Xcalak, Jewel of the Yucatan. Lobsters so thick, mangoes, and no word for money." JJ replied. "Let's do this shit." John B said. When we got to the airstrip, we all got out of the van and ran to the metal fence. "What's the plan? Broad strokes." Kiara asked. "I don't think we got that far." JB replied. "Their loading up the gold." Pope said as he looked through the binoculars. John B grabbed them and looked through them. "There's Ward." He said. John B took down the binoculars with a look on his face. "What?" I asked. "It's Sarah." JB replied. "She's with him?" JJ asked. "Wait a minute. He's hurting her." John B said as he looked through the binoculars again. "What?" Me and Kie asked. "They're fighting." John B told us as Kiara took the binoculars. "Holy shit." John B said and ran to the van. "Hey! What are you doing?" I asked him. "John B. Where are you going?" Kie asked. "Hey!" We all yelled as he started the van. We all yelled at him as he ran through the fence. "What are you doing?" I yelled at him as I ran up to the now broken fence. "John B!" Kie yelled as they all ran up beside me. "What are you doing man? Come back!" JJ yelled. "Oh my god he's an idiot." I said as we watched him drive after the plane. They got very far away so we could hardly see them, but we did see him pull in front of the plane and the plane stopping just as it was about to hit the van. We then heard sirens. "Guys I can't get arrested." Pope said. "I'm on probation." JJ added. "Look, we're no good if we're all in jail." Kie told us. She said it to all of us, but she looked at me as if she wanted permission. I nodded and we ran back to the van, driving away.

Jingyi Bo is in Fates Parallel (An Irreverent Fanfiction)
Fates Parallel is a gripping cultivation story, following the adventures of a half-spirit girl with nothing as she grows both as a cultivator and as a person after arriving at the Grand Academy of Spiritual, Martial and Arcane Arts. It features fleshed-out, believable characters, wonderful world-building that informs the course of the plot, and girls who hold hands. Fates Parallel is a very good story, and you should read it! Jingyi Bo is in Fates Parallel is a somewhat tongue-in-cheek look at this same world from a different angle, following a totally regular girl who brings bad luck with her wherever she goes. It features shallow, joke-name characters, a focus on the least interesting parts of a fantastic world, and girls who hold hands (potentially). Jingyi Bo is in Fates Parallel is an amazingly hilarious (so says me) fanfiction and you should read it! (This is a Totally Author Approved Spin-Off (Fanfiction) for Fates Parallel, which you can find in a number of places including here on RoyalRoad! Please do read it!)

Sherds
Linus falls into another world, arriving on an archipelago. This is a story about exploration, and archaeology is a major theme! Studying history and pre-history is a favorite of mine, so this is a project using my research to build a world. One of the magic systems has rpg inspired elements, but this isn't a litrpg at its core. I'm an art student and haven't written much, but I like telling stories. This is largely just for fun, my own spin on the RR other world formula. (Placeholder cover is from the Palazzo Massimo in Rome)

An everyman tests his mettle when a Voodoo god, in the guise of a kindly crackpot, thrusts him back in time and into a violent riot. Smooth going until his boss, the owner's grandson, stirs racial and labor tensions. Soon, Frank's fighting the good fight, and standing tall seems to work. He even manages a few allies until a Voodoo god mucks up the works, knocking Frank back to 1966 and into the center of Cleveland's Hough riots to test his mettle. Needless to say, getting back to see his little girl's youth orchestra recital's gonna be a bitch. ELIOT NESS FOR MAYOR is a short novel of magical-realist fiction, a stand-alone book in the Shantytown Cycle. Written for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), I will be posting revisions as I complete them and should be done by early 2022, though I am making major changes so the timing may be longer. This book is cross-posted on two websites: Wattpad and Royal Road. Both are reputable, high-quality sites. Do not trust this book on other websites. They "scrape" material from reputable sites, posting the stolen material as an original to lure users in, but contain links that include malicious code.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
