Armin's house was huge, bigger than any you've ever seen up close and in person. It was hard not to gawk at the sight before you— like a kid in a candy store, your eyes were widened with amazement once Eren pulled into the driveway.
"You good?" He asks, patting your thigh to grab your attention after taking notice of the expression on your face.
"Yeah, it's just... this place is huge." You smile under Eren's touch, eagerly waiting for his next move. Why were you becoming so receptive? Maybe his friendliness just made you comfortable— whatever it was, it was sending a tingle throughout your body as goosebumps formed on your skin.
He pulls back, hand retreating to grab his phone from his pocket as he made a quick phone call. "I'm here."
That was all that he had to say, before you noticed that the door to Armin's house had cracked open, exposing a glimmer of blonde as the sun peeked in onto his silky tuffs of hair.
He smiles as his blue eyes settle on you, giving you a shy little wave. Both you and Eren exit the car and make your way over to the door— Armin opens the door wide enough to welcome the two of you into his home. As you pass by, you can feel his breath on your skin, the close proximity allowed you to smell the faintest hint of sea-foam breeze.
With a click of the door, you turn to face the blonde young man who stands at about average height with a slender build. He's just as pretty as the first time you met him at the restaurant with Sasha— blue eyes as bright as the afternoon sky and pretty pale skin, delicately unscathed without a flaw in sight...
Armin was simply perfection, which greatly contrasted his best friend who was practically danger on legs.
"Hey, y/n. Nice to see you again." He flashed a pretty smile, placing his hand on your lower back to help guide you further into the stunning home.
His home really was gorgeous— everything was set in it's proper place, completely clean and spotless. It was hard to pay attention to anything else as you continued to walk wherever Armin was leading you, with Eren following closely behind.
Finally, you entered a room which you could only assume was his— a large California king bed with stark white sheets accompanied by a gigantic flat screen tv hung up on the opposite wall, and plenty of windows to allow bright, natural lighting to fill the entire space.
"I'm gonna use the bathroom, you'll be okay with 'Min?" Eren asked, remembering how you told him that you were shy— after all, he just wanted to make sure you were comfortable.
"Yeah, I'll be fine." You smile, glancing at Armin who winks at you playfully.
After Eren leaves, his friend wastes no time in making himself comfortable on the bed as he stretches out his limbs. Propping himself up on his elbow, he lays across the plush mattress —the silky white button down he wore slid to side, exposing a glimpse of skin from his lower half.
"Eren's taken an interest in you." He says abruptly, a smirk on his lips as he takes joy in watching your flustered expression.
You weren't really sure what to say. It wasn't like you were oblivious to Eren's blatant flirting but hearing the words outloud made it seem real, especially when Armin was waiting on some sort of answer from you.

"We're just friends. I actually-"
"Have a boyfriend... I've heard." He finishes your sentence, still sporting that sinful smirk. "He talks about you a lot, ya know. You've always been that cute neighbor he'd see around his place— He's had a little crush on you for a while now."
You absorb the words he tells you very carefully, as you watch him fiddle with a loose string on a knitted blanket at the foot of his bed. What was the purpose of telling you this, and why now? Especially if he knew you had a boyfriend.
Though, hearing him say that Eren had been crushing on you for longer than you've realized did set some sort of thought process in motion for you. All of those little interactions the two of you would have whenever you would cross paths... did those make him as happy as they made you?
"Don't tell him I said anything, he'd kill me." He laughs, "just thought you should know."
"Thought she should know what?" Eren asks as he enters the room, a brow cocked as he ponders exactly what the two of you had been discussing.
"Nothing, just talking." Armin responds sitting up and scooting over to make room for the two of you to join him on the bed. He turns on some music— it hums gently in the background through built in speakers as you spot Eren seated next you, starting to roll up another joint.
"He doesn't look it, but 'Min's the biggest pot-head outta all of us." He chuckles, sticking his tongue out to give kitten licks to the edge of the paper before rolling it shut.
Armin blushes at his friends confession, pale cheeks dusted pink as he tries to explain. "It helps me concentrate, that's all. I study better when I'm high."
You can only laugh at how cute he appears before you now, when just moments ago his demeanor was much different. Armin was a mystery to you— that, you were completely sure of.
"So, y/n... your boyfriend doesn't mind you hanging out with us, right?" The blonde asks as Eren passes him the freshly rolled joint. He balances it between his pretty pink lips as he waits for your answer.
You wished that you could say 'no.' That he wouldn't mind you hanging out with the two of them alone, but that wasn't the case. Jean was a jealous person, his own insecurities would cause him to accuse you of wanting to fuck the mailman if he even so much as said good morning to you.
You really didn't need to say anything, the way your eyes shifted downwards as you fumbled with the hem of your sleeves told him everything he needed to know.
"Oh, shit. He doesn't know you're here, does he?"
"The guys a tool, anyways." Eren chimes in, waiting for Armin to pass the joint after hogging it for the last three turns. "No offense."
Were you supposed to defend your man's honor? Probably. Did you?
No.
In fact, you even participated.
"He doesn't like it when I smoke. He always scolds me for it, like he's my dad or something... I don't know, it just bothers me sometimes. He can be pretty uptight."
You felt a weight lift off of your chest as you unloaded those heavy words. Though, now, they seemed as weightless as the smoke that escaped from your lungs.

It felt good to vent to someone about the things that's bothered you in your relationship. You really didn't have anyone to do that with, since your only other friends were also Jean's friends. For once, you had people to talk to that were just... yours— you didn't have to tip-toe around your words and it felt amazing to just say what you wanted to say, unfiltered.
"Really? That sucks. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I mean, why do you deal with it? I don't mean to pry, but it seems like you aren't happy." Armin continues his interrogation, his blue eyes now tinted red as the weed begins to allow his wheels to turn. He's curious about you too, just as you are about him.
"It's... complicated, I guess. We've been through a lot together. He's always been there when I didn't have anyone else— we've got history. It'd be weird to be without him." You shrug, taking a small hit and exhaling. This convo was turning a lot heavier than you expected, but it felt... good?
"Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it." Armin says, willfully watching your sullen expression.
"George Santayana?" You ask, remembering the quote from the famous philosopher.
"Ah, so you know it." He grins, pleased to see that you're someone who can keep up with his intelligence.
"The fuck does that mean?" Eren asks abruptly, wanting to be part of the conversation at hand.
"It means, those who don't learn from mistakes of the past, are bound to make those same mistakes. In other words, you could say that history tells us that staying complacent in a situation that you aren't happy in, can only get worse.
It doesn't make sense to torture yourself, y/n, just for the sake of history."
Armin was smart, too smart. That made him dangerous— yet, you found yourself drawn to the whimsical nature of the pretty-faced innocence that he displayed before you. It's like your brain wouldn't let the two connect, it seemed impossible that they could even be the same person.
"But, I suppose that's none of my business. I'm not here to tell you what to do with your relationship, I'm simply trying to help you open your eyes to the situation, ya know? Sometimes we just need the help of a friend looking in from the outside."
You nod, passing the tiny joint over to Eren that sat tepidly in between your pointer and thumb, smoked up and worn down to the very end. Your face heats up at the memory of the earlier moment in the car when it was just you and him in the parking lot.
"Wanna try again?" You almost surprise yourself when those words come out of your own mouth. "I messed it up last time, you caught me off guard."
Eren smirks— he likes your newfound boldness.
He grips the joint in his fingers and sucks up the last puff, leaning in towards you and grabbing your jaw for stability— the two of your purse your lips as you prepare for the exchange of smoke.
Except, suddenly you feel yourself jolt forward, Armin's soft blonde hair tickles the back of your neck after his body makes impact from bumping into you— your lips crash against Eren's as the smoke escapes from the corners of his mouth, that's now planted firmly against yours.
The two of you pull away suddenly. It was apparent that neither of you were expecting that to happen. The brief kiss, though accidental, sent a spark throughout your flustered body— those same butterflies from earlier had returned with fury.
His lips were just as soft as you had imagined, and you soon found yourself wishing to taste them again— for real, this time.
"What the fuck, Armin?" Eren spat, reaching around you to punch the chuckling man in the arm.
"Oops, lost my balance. My bad." He smirks, before falling back onto his pillow with more shallow laughter.
"I'm sorry, he's a fuckin' — I didn't mean to- "
Wait... was Eren just as flustered as you were? You had to be honest, this reaction was one you weren't expecting. Maybe Armin was telling the truth when he said that Eren had a little crush on you... maybe Eren was telling the truth when he told you that you made him nervous...
And maybe Armin was right, when he said that history shouldn't repeat itself... that it isn't worth your happiness.
Maybe it was the weed that made you so damned bold, but what you did next was unwaveringly your own decision... whether it was the right one, didn't really matter to you at this moment.
Threading your fingers through his loosened bun, you pulled Eren forward to meet your lips once more— for real this time. A real kiss.
You allowed yourself to get lost in his touch, his hands swiftly finding purchase on your thighs as he pulls you up to straddle his lap, fingers gripping the plush flesh tightly as your tongue's swirl against each other— the metal from his piercing clinks against your teeth as the kiss becomes hungrier, so much so, that you even forgot Armin was in the room for a brief moment.
Armin, shit— how embarrassing. You broke away from the kiss to look behind you, where he was supposed to be seated, except... he wasn't. When had he snuck away?
Looking back at Eren, his kiss bitten lips plump and inviting as they impatiently await your next move. You can feel his hardened erection directly underneath your clothed pussy, that's proving to be just as equally needy.
He rolls his hips up against your center experimentally, wanting to see what type of reaction you give him. As his cock gives you the friction you desire, you let out a hushed gasp— this lights a fire inside of him, his green eyes darken with lust as he imagines all of the pretty sounds that he can pull out of you.
"What do you wanna do, y/n?" He asks, before running a rough hand up to your neck, squeezing a little more firmly than before as he brings you closer to his lips.
"It's your call." He murmurs against your mouth as he feels you shift in his lap, eliciting a low groan from the back of his throat. "But I won't lie,

The Way Ahead
What do you do when you don't fit in? Edwin never really felt many connections to other people, but as a physics student, that was fine. He didn't really need it, anyway. He was content to peel back the mysteries of the universe... not that there were many left to find. Modern-day research was just too well-established, too well-trodden for any single enthusiast to make any significant headway. But that doesn't apply to other worlds. Not ones where magic and Skills run rampant, where well-defined roles and Classes dominate much of society with little room for novel experimentation from its residents. That kind of world would be perfect for an overeager, newly-minted Alchemist to make his mark. Things are never that easy, though. The Way Ahead is a very slice-of-life story following the story of someone trying to find his place in a world that doesn't know what to do with him. Expect lots of science, lots of alchemy, a few sarcastic quips by the System, and lots of exploration involving the world, self-discovery, and above all, science. After all, further research is always required. Updates every other day at 9 AM PST. Congratulations! For writing a story during the month of November, you have unlocked the Royal Road Writathon Participant path!
