《Their Human》Chapter forty: vow

Hundreds of different coloured eyes looked back at us, at me, with different emotions. Shock, pity, disgust, anger. There was a lot but not one of them were what I wanted to see.

I had done it, the one thing that I was not supposed to expose, I did. I did it during the worst time too, where every single creature was here, surrounding me. They knew it now. I was human and this human was in a relationship with two of their hybrids and falling for their vampire.

This is beyond terrible.

The silence that stretched throughout the whole place was deafening and it made matters worse for me. I preferred it when all of these scary creatures growled and spoke, then at least I would know what they were thinking.

Right now, I had no idea what they were thinking...

'lets kill her?'

'eat her?'

'make her a slave?'

'kill her mates?'

All of the possibilities ended with me being six feet under, whether in a coffin or in a sewer after I was eaten and excreted out. I was a gone woman.

Valedria stood up, his chair making me flinch when he aggressively kicked it away from him. He, along with most of the population, looked absolutely furious and disgusted to see me. "Explain yourselves." He commanded. I looked at Goliath, he was confused about everything that was happening.

"Valedria, what is the meaning of this?" Sofia asked. Valedria glared at her, pointing at me like he had identified someone who killed one of his kin.

"I should ask the same thing. You have brought massive disgrace upon our land. A human in a relationship with your sons!"

Sofia nearly collapsed at that statement. Even Goliath sat back, as if someone had delivered a hard blow to his chest. Other creatures started speaking loudly, pointing at me like I was some animal on display at the zoo. Silas pushed me behind him protectively, trying to sheild me away from everyone else. I looked to my left, seeing Alexander walking towards us with the head of the fae in his hand.

"I had absolutely no idea that she was human! She kept her identity a secret, my boys did too! Sapphire did too!" Sofia said, pointing at each of us. Creatures turned to Sapphire too, saying curses to her. She frowned but still kept her head high.

"This is not something that we can excuse! This is a great breach to our laws and beliefs. Humans are nothing but a food and pleasure source. They are not companions or lovers."

"Really? But the first woman on this island, the reason why vampires even exist was human!" Alexander shouted at Valedria, gripping the hair attached to the head tightly. The vampires hissed at Alexander.

"You are also a disgrace. My own blood gloating about his attachment to a human, gloating of how you fed on her romantically instead of for food. You all deserve great punishment!"

The creatures all cheered in agreement. I gasped softly, feeling beyond terrified about this.

"But, since I am a kind leader and since we need one of you to be king. I will allow you all to make a choice on what to do with the human." Valedria said, stepping closer to us.

I looked at Sei, finding him seated on the floor, alive but still injured by the arrow. He ripped it out from his chest, hissing softly at the pain that came with it. I closed my eyes, hoping that he would recover soon.

"You can either choose to keep your human and I will kill her and imprison all three of you, or you will kill the human yourself and we can continue with this competition like nothing ever happened."

This is it...

Silas looked at Alexander, who also looked at him with a face I could not read. It was like they were speaking, but I knew that vampires didn't have mind link.

"I choose the vampires," Alexander said sternly. My heart dropped when he said that, making me feel even more ill. I wasn't angry at him. He was only trying to protect himself. My eyes snapped up when he continued speaking.

"Is that what you wanted me to say, Silas? To make Akielia hate me?" Alexander asked with a dark smirk. He threw the head at the feet of Valedria, "Its tyrants like you that made me want to become king. To destroy you because you disrupt the peace of this land. I will not surrender to you and I will not choose you over the one I'm destined to be with." He growled.

"See that head I just threw at you? You're going to be in the same position!" Alexander added, preparing to attack.

"Alexander no!" Silas hissed, making Alexander freeze. Sei shook his head at him and the vampire growled, standing still, his grip tightening around the dagger. Valedria slowly clapped his hands like the villain he is.

"Wow, what a beautiful moment. Disappointing, but beautiful nonetheless." He said, a group of vampires standing behind him. "I really didn't wish to do this to any of you, but now I really have no choice." He turned look behind Silas, right at me.

"The day this human will be queen is the day I'm dead, I vow on it. Now kill them."

At that moment, Silas shoved me away from him, just for me to land in the arms of Alexander. With no warning, he picked me up and sped off with me into the trees, running a fast as a sports car or even faster. I tightly clung onto him, feeling myself getting dizzy. It felt like I was floating and all I could hear was the wind in my ears.

I can't believe Alexander chose me.

I leaned against his shoulder, closing my eyes to decrease the nausea I was feeling. Hopefully we would get away and be safe. But where is a safe place when a whole island of supernatural creatures are chasing after you?

Home... My safe place is home.

"We need to go back home." I spoke softly, keeping my eyes closed. I don't know how long Alexander ran for or where the twins were but I ended up falling asleep in his arms.

When I woke up, I expected to find myself with a painful back on the cold hard dirt but I woke up on top of a soft mattress, dressed in warm cotton pajamas. I looked around my bedroom, smiling to myself at the feeling of recognition and safety.

Wait a minute...

What the hell am I doing in my bedroom?

I quickly scrambled to sit up on my bed, looking around. I scratched my eyes and slapped my face. This was not a dream, I was really inside my bedroom... In my house... In my continent.

"But why?" I asked myself softly. Did they realize that I was not worth all of this so they took me home and went back? Did they decide to end things and continue with their lives? Was it for my own protection?

"Why must you always overthink everything?" A voice asked me just when the door was kicked open. I shrieked and hid under my blanket, receiving a chuckle from Silas. "Aw, did I scare you baby?"

I slowly peeked from under the blanket, watching Silas sitting at the edge of the bed. I got up and crawled over to him, snuggling against his body. "I'm glad you're okay." I told him.

"Yeah, me too. I thought Alexander would trip and fall while he was running with you."

"I can hear you, asshole!" Alexander shouted from downstairs. Silas rolled his eyes, seeming to be pretty irritated at him.

"Where's Sei?" I asked, getting of the bed. "and why are we here?"

"Sei is outside, making sure that everything is safe. He's okay." Silas said, following behind me as I left the room. "We came here because this is the last place they would look. Nobody knows you live here besides us."

"Yeah and Sharlene and Damien too. Don't forget that they are still stuck there and I know Sharlene would do anything just to get me in trouble."

"Kaiser is keeping an eye on them." Silas told me. I walked into the living room, finding Alexander sitting there with my cellphone in his hands. He was tapping on the screen randomly, clearly unsure about what he was doing.

"What is this contraption?" He asked me curiously.

"It's a phone. We use it to make calls, take pictures and play games."

"Take pictures? How?" He asked. I took the phone from him and snapped a picture of him, making him hiss at me when the flash hit his face.

"What did you just do to me!" He asked, ripping the phone from my hands. He pursed his lips when he saw his face on the screen. "Wow, I look absolutely nothing like this."

"Right, it's called filters. Anyways, we need a plan. We can't just hide out forever."

"We won't, we have a plan." Alexander said, looking at Silas. Silas stared back at him, confused, "we do?"

"Yeah, Akielia is going to slice Valedria's head off, choose her king and rule the island." Alexander said as if it's the most easy thing ever.

"And why would you assume that everyone else will just accept that?" Silas asked, crossing his arms.

"Because Valedria swore on it, and when a leader does that, it usually comes true." Alexander said. I thought back to what the vampire leader said before.

"The day this human will be queen is the day I'm dead, I vow on it."
