I'm not focusing at all during my work on Monday because I am way too excited for later today.
I will be over at Scarlett's, who would have thought, and we will have dinner together and she said she wanted to take me somewhere but it's a surprise where.
Brooke knowingly smiles at me as she knows what day today is since I told her, I just couldn't keep it to myself.
She is understanding and says she can finish the project we're currently working on by herself, letting me go an hour earlier than usual.
I'm very thankful for that and promise to pay her back one day. She laughs and waves it off, saying we wouldn't be much faster together since I'm not able to concentrate. I grin and nod in agreement, not ashamed about that.
On my way back to my apartment, I text Jesse because he, of course, needs to be kept up on how things are going.
He was super excited when I told him I got a ring and that I plan on proposing very soon.
I actually planned on doing it today but I'm not sure how and when yet.
I hoped to come up with an idea, since it would be perfect with Lizzie watching Rose but my brain was way too occupied with being excited.
Honestly, I always kinda thought that when you propose to someone, that you'd also be scared, at least a bit, that it may be the wrong decision or that they don't feel the same way but now I know, that's not the case. I am not even a tiny bit scared because I know it is right and Scarlett feels the same way as I do, we talked about this often enough.
I also see Scarlett texting me, that she is done for today and I send her a text back, telling her I also got off earlier.
When I arrive at home, I check the mailbox and am surprised to see something in there.
I take the large envelope and when I see from who it is, I feel a different kind of excitement rushing through me.
Quickly, I hurry up the stairs to put my things away and freshen up a little.
I decide to wear jeans shorts and a white blouse to go to Scarlett's. My hair looks a little messy, so I brush it until I am happy with the way it looks.
I take the envelope and open it, my heart pounding in my chest and when I read over the letters, I feel tears pricking in my eyes.
This is what I hoped for, for a while now.
I separate the papers into two little stacks and get wrapping paper. One of the stacks I put back into the envelop and wrap it up nicely, my leg bouncing, excited to see her reaction to it.
The whole way to Scar's house, I am excited and maybe a little nervous but the good kind.
I can feel the little ring box in my pocket and bite my lip to keep from yelling out in happiness. It took me a while but I found the perfect engagement ring for Scarlett, and it is even Lizzie-approved.
It's a ring made out of white gold and has little white gems on the side, with one bigger one in the middle. The middle one is a Rubin and therefore red, Scarlett's favorite color.
The ring was quite expensive but I could handle it, I just don't have any savings for a TV anymore and needed to cut back a little on extra expenses last month but it was totally worth it.

The ring is a little flashy but not too much, just as Scarlett should like it.
I debated whether I should buy one that's a little less flashy or not at all but I also know Scarlett and she likes a little bit fancy things.
Besides, she's a worldwide known celebrity, if her ring would look cheap, I know the whole world would have an opinion on that and even though I usually don't care, I wanted a ring that will prevent that because nothing should destroy our happiness.
Just thinking about the ring makes me happy because I know she will like it and it comes with a promise that I am so ready to fulfill.
Pov Scarlett
I won't lie, I am pretty nervous, but in a good way.
Today is the day, where I want to pop the question and can't wait for that moment to arrive.
I already thought about what I want to say to her but no matter how many times I tried to come up with something script like, my head was empty and maybe that's a good thing. Because, this isn't one of my movies, this is real life and maybe saying what I'm feeling in that very moment is better than any speech I could prepare.
I'm glad I got off a bit earlier today because concentrating was hard as my thoughts went to the plans tonight all the time.
When I arrive at home, I greet Rosie and Lizzie before going upstairs to get dressed properly, since I usually wear comfortable clothes to set, they redress me anyways.
I decide on a light blue dress that has a hidden pocket, perfect for the ring box.
I get the box out of its hiding spot, which was hard to find since y/n stays over here regularly. Usually, I would have said in my underwear drawer is fine but not when it comes to my girlfriend and especially not when that's where we store the silk rope.
I eventually found a spot, she would never look at without asking, my box with props and sentimentals from movies I was in.
I open the little box and smile at the ring. It really isn't too much, just a bigger amethyst in the middle and one white crystal on either side of it.
She will like that it's simple but not too simple and has a stone in her favorite color in the middle.
I had the chance to let the white crystals be diamonds but that would have made the ring really expensive and I know she wouldn't have wanted that.
After looking at it for a little longer, I store the box in the little pocket and use the inside button to keep it sealed, not wanting to risk the box falling out.
I walk back downstairs and watch Rose and Lizzie do a puzzle together, pacing a little up and down.
I'm extremely excited to ask y/n to marry me and if I wouldn't have this romantic thing planned, I would propose to her as soon as she steps through the door.
I've never been this excited about the thought of marrying someone, which also shows me, that this time it'll work, it won't break up.
Lizzie looks up and over to me, giving me a comforting smile. She can't really say anything because I haven't told Rose yet, I just didn't want it to be spoiled.
Not, that my daughter is someone who can't keep a secret but when she gets excited, she tends to ramble a lot and there is a good chance, it would slip unintentionally.

And me asking her Mama to marry me, is something that most definitely would make her excited.
A ring at the door pulls me out of my thoughts and I almost rush over to open it. Y/n stands in front of me, her smile huge and her eyes sparkling just how I love it.
"Happy one year of knowing each other." She says and I grin, pulling her into a tight hug. She doesn't complain and hugs me back. I breathe in her scent and immediately calm down, my nerves settling as if she is my calming medicine.
"Happy one year." I reply back and kiss her sweetly. She smiles into the kiss and I melt into her touch, when her hands cup my face.
"Mama!" Rose calls and I let go of y/n, so Rose can run into her arms.
Pov y/n
I hug Rose and when she lets go of me, she grins widely and takes my hand.
"I have something for you." She announces and tugs me towards the living room. I quickly kick my shoes off before following her.
I have no idea what she is talking about but I am excited to see what it is. Lizzie waves at me when I enter the living room and I wave back. Rose pulls me to the couch, the puzzle on the coffee table long forgotten.
"Wait here." She tells me and runs to the stairs.
If I wasn't so excited myself, I would probably tell her not to run on the stairs but I would totally do the same. Scarlett sits down next to me, wrapping her arms around me and resting her head on my shoulder. I smile and put my arm around her shoulder, kissing her temple. Lizzie took the other couch, smiling softly at us.
"You two look happy." She observes and almost at the same time, Scarlett and I hum in agreement, beaming at Lizzie.
Rose comes running down the steps, again, no comment from either one of us. She almost jumps onto my lap and I pull my one arm from Scar's shoulder back, to hold Rose safely.
"You know, how we met one year ago?" She asks and looks at me. I smile and brush over her hair.
"I do, it was a great day." I say and Rose nods, bouncing a little in my lap, quite literally buzzing with excitement.
"And because of that, I have a present for you." She tells me and proudly hands me a rolled up paper that is hold together with a colorful string, probably put around it with help from Lizzie.
I remove the string and Rose's eyes dart between me and the picture as I slowly unroll it.
It reveals a drawing of a train booth with three people in it, two blondes on one side, one y/h/c (your hair color) on the other side.
On the table, are a few things that I would say are crayons and a paper. The window sight makes me smile because it doesn't show the landscape, it shows a little aquarium, just like we always drew. Above the people on the picture, Rose did her best to write our names and it looks adorable and almost makes me want to cry.
"That's our meeting last year on the train." She explains, just in case I didn't get it.
I look at the picture for a few more seconds before handing it to Scarlett and pulling Rose into a tight hug. She returns it and hugs me back as tightly as she can.
"It is wonderful, little dolphin, thank you so, so much." I say and kiss all over her face, making her giggle.
"I love it and I also love you."
Rose's eyes light up at my words and she smiles widely.
"I love you too." She replies and gives me a kiss as well.
"And you know what? I also have something for you." I tell her and she looks at me with big eyes.
"You do?" She asks and I nod and grab the bag I had with me. I pull out the wrapped up envelop.
"Please open very carefully." I advice her and Rose nods, taking the present into her hands. Scarlett looks at me, silently asking me what it is but I just smile and she puts the drawing down. Lizzie also leans a little forward when Rose carefully removes the wrapping paper and I can't wait to see her reaction, since this is something she asked me for, for a good amount of time now.
The envelope appears and Rose seems a little confused but opens it and drops the wrapping paper and envelope to the side, pulling out a paper. She looks up at me and I nod for her to read it, well, mainly the headline. Scarlett already read it and gasps a little, covering her mouth with her hand and I grin, knowing she'd react this way.
"A-dop-tion pa-pers. Adoption papers." Rose reads out loud and now Lizzie gasps as well but my eyes stay on Rose as she processes what she just read.
Then she scrambles to turn around in my lap, the papers carefully taken by Scarlett to save them. Rose looks at me with huge eyes.
"Are you gonna adopt me?" She asks, pure excitement and joy in her voice and I nod, smiling widely at her.
"I got everything approved and with your agreement, and your mom's, you can officially and legally be my daughter." I tell her, my heart pounding fast in my chest.
"So, do you wanna be my daughter?" I ask, already feeling my voice trembling a little.
Rose throws herself at me, her arms wrapping around me and squeezing me tightly. I hug her back and run my hand through her hair. When she sits back down, she smiles the widest of smiles, her eyes sparkling.
"I want to be your daughter." She says and it's as if a dam was hit and I feel tears in my eyes and my heart almost exploding with happiness.
"Then it will be my honor to be your mom." I tell her and cradle her face, giving her a kiss on the forehead. Rose hugs me again, giving me a kiss on the cheek before turning to Scarlett.
"Mama wants to adopt me!" She cheers loudly and when I look at Scarlett, I see her already crying.
"That is good, Mommy. Why are you crying?" Rose asks and pouts a little.
"Happy tears, my baby, those are happy tears." Scarlett assures her and Rose smiles again before climbing into Scarlett's lab and giving her a hug as well.
Lizzie sniffles a little and I see her crying as well. We make eye contact and she smiles before getting up and I get up as well, hugging her.
"Congratulations." She says and wipes away a few tears.
"Thank you." I say with a happy smile and dry some of my tears as well.
"And congratulations to you too, sunshine." She says when Rose looks at her and picks the girl up to give her a hug. Next thing I know, Scarlett hugs me tightly and I hold her close. When she pulls away, I cup her face and wipe some tears away.
"You did it, you got approved." She sniffles a bit and I nod, feeling nothing but pure happiness inside me.
"I did and I got the letter today, as if they knew it's our anniversary." I say and she smiles before pressing her lips onto mine, giving me a deep, loving kiss. And I swear, I've never been happier in my life so far.
She pulls away and rests her forehead against mine before wrapping her arm around my waist and looking at Rose and Lizzie. Rose beams at us before reaching out for me and I take her and place her on my hip, kissing her forehead.
"You can take me to doctor's appointments now or pick me up from school." She tells me happily and I chuckle and squeeze her a little.
"As soon as those papers are signed, yes." I agree and Rose wiggles excitedly, wrapping her arms around my shoulders.
"I have a second Mommy now." Rose says to Scarlett, who smiles softly and brushes some hair out of Rose's face.
"And I couldn't imagine anyone better for that position." She says, more to me than to Rose.
It was a long and a bit nerve wrecking process and a whole lot of forms to fill out.
I had multiple visits by a social worker to get the approval and had a few appointments with a lawyer from social work to go over everything.
I had to sign a bunch of forms, saying I don't have a criminal record and stuff like that and sometimes I just wanted to scream in my pillow, which I later on did, because it was really frustrating.
The whole process took almost half a year now but it was worth every bit.
Since Scarlett is responsible for Rose and has custody, her signature is enough to allow me to be Rose's legal parent as well.
Well, and of course Rose's signature because she is not a baby anymore and can decide herself if she wants this or not.
It may take one or two more appointments with law people but after that, it should be all settled.
Scarlett helped me through the whole process, also because she often had to sign forms as well.
She was my rock whenever I was frustrated but I just needed to think of Rose or look at her and I knew it would be worth it.
Dinner is great, Scarlett made her amazing mac and cheese and laughs when all three of us, praise her for it and eat it as if it was the best meal in the world, which is it.
After dinner, we clean the table and Scarlett announces she has a surprise for me. I look at her and she grins happily, telling me to get ready and then go to the car.
I do as said and ask what this is about but she just grins and kisses me, which I don't complain about but it's not an answer.
Lizzie and Rose wave when we drive out onto the road and I can see something shimmering in Lizzie's eyes but we are too quickly gone to know what it is.
Scarlett drives us through the city but every time I ask her, where she's taking me, she just smiles and doesn't answer. Her hand softly rests on my thigh as she drives us through the New Yorker traffic chaos and I notice we are headed towards Brooklyn, which confuses me even more but I take it as it is and just hum along to the song that's playing on the radio.
She parks at a parking lot and the surroundings seem familiar but I can't quite tell where we are, so I just let Scarlett take the lead.
"Any special occasion for this surprise?" I ask as we walk hand in hand through a little park.
"Our one-year anniversary of meeting each other." She replies and smiles.
I nod, that's a fair reason.
My free hand is in my pocket, where I have the ring box. I have no idea what Scarlett has planned but maybe there will be the right moment to propose.
Suddenly I remember the park and my eyes grow big and I look at Scarlett. She smiles at my knowing face before we step up to a bench, close to a beach and over looking the water in front of us.
"This is the place where we had our first moment together." She says and sits down, pulling me with her.
I look around before my eyes settle on hers.
"You took me here to watch the sunset because you said you loved watching it." I remember and she nods with a wide smile.
"It was after you got the job at the aquarium and the first time I acknowledged I felt more than just friendship towards you." She admits and my heart becomes all soft at her words and I take her hands in mine, intertwining our fingers as we did so often before.
"This is perfect." I whisper and her eyes start to sparkle at my words. She leans her head against my shoulder and we watch as the sun slowly begins to set.
"Did you time this?" I ask and she hums a little.
"I actually did, I even made dinner a little sooner than usual." She admits and I chuckle a bit.
"I noticed that and was confused but I though you were just hungry." I say and she giggles a bit, such a sweet sound that makes my heart fill with love for her.
"I had my motives."
I kiss her head and hold her a little tighter.
"Isn't it crazy how far we've come from a year ago?" I ask and she sits up to look at me, her face beautifully lit by the setting sun.
"It is, I never would have thought that I'd be here a year ago." She says and I nod in agreement.
"But you've also come a long way. When I first met you, you didn't know what you were gonna do in New York, where you wanted to work, you seemed a little lost. But during this past year, you worked your way through life and ended up with a job you love and your own apartment in Manhattan. You did that all by yourself and I am so amazed by that and so proud of you." She says softly, making my heart beat a little faster at her sweet words.
