《Call Of Death》Chapter 27 : Riddles

Detective Lee has been staring at his computer for hours. He's trying to figure out something with the little clues they have but no matter how hard he tries, he couldn't find anything helpful to the investigation. He's also thinking about the possibility that the culprit must have encountered them before. The possibility that the culprit is just around them but they didn't know. Devius, on the other hand, was just watching his partner, probably thinking the same thing. He sighed and took his phone out when it vibrated. When he opened it, he saw a message from the culprit's number.
'You have some clue now? That's right, I am just around watching you. But you don't have to fear me because I'm gonna make it easier for you.' That's what the message said.
That time, Cameron's phone vibrated too and a text message was sent. The number wasn't familiar at all and it wasn't saved in his contacts either. He furrowed his brows before opening it.
'The night was dark, so is the memory of our past. I kept looking at the sky, always asking why but the only answer I get is die.'
"What the hell is this?" Detective Lee asked in confusion, staring at the message on his phone.
Officer Chad heard him talking that's why he stood up and walked towards him. Cameron looked at his phone before turning to his partner.
"Did you also get a message, senior?" Devius asked, Detective Lee nodded.
"It's more like a riddle than a message." He showed Officer Chad his phone.
"The only answer I get is die? What does that mean?" Devius read out loud.
"I don't know either." Cameron shrugged his shoulder.
Officer Chad took his partner's phone and looked at the number but it wasn't the same as the culprit who was texting him. He returned the phone to it's owner and sighed. He kept thinking about the message of riddle. When lunch time came, both of them went to eat at the nearest restaurant again. As they were eating, Cameron felt like there were some eyes on him. It's as if he is being watched. He simply looked around but saw no one. Then he felt his phone vibrating again. He took it out and another message was in.

'You can fight but you can't hide, choose to forget if you want but your past will come for hunt.'
"Senior, what is wrong?" Devius asked when he noticed Cameron looking at his phone with a dark face.
"It's another riddle from the same texter. Maybe just some prank." He shoved it off and started eating but Devius is sensing that something isn't right.
Even if it wasn't the same number as the culprit who has been texting and calling him, Officer Chad still couldn't just shobve it off. He just doesn't want to bother his senior so he just continued with his food. After finishing their meal, they decided to walk to digest the food they ate. Devius shoved his hands inside his pockets as he was enjoying the breeze. While Cameron's arms are just crossed behind him. When they're about to reach the headquarters, Detective Lee's phone vibrated again. They both stopped walking as he took his phone out. Officer Chad was just waiting for him to read it.
Devius saw as his partner furrowed his brows while reading the message. Officer Chad confusedly and calmly took the phone from Detective Lee's hand.
He then read the message loudly, "I am you but younger, I am you but stronger. We are the same but we were never from the same mother." He turned to look at Cameron after reading. "Why is this person sending you this kinds of messages? Do you have any siblings, senior?" He confusedly asked.
"I don't have any idea either. Just don't mind it, maybe it's just some jerk texting random number for pranks." Detective Lee answered.
But for some reason, Devius isn't convinced. He thinks there's something more behind the riddles, if you can call it that. He returned the phone to Detective Lee but he couldn't get the riddles out of his head. Then, he saw a figure from a far. It was a person wearing a black coat. Everything was covered that even Officer Chad who was trained to have a good eyesight, he couldn't see anything but the black coat that person was wearing.
"Hey, Chad, what are you looking at?" Detective Lee asked when he noticed his junior staring at somewhere.
"Huh?"
"What are you looking at?" He asked again.

Officer Chad was about to point at the figure but when he turned to that direction, the figure was already gone.
"What?"
"Oh. Nothing." He just said and they continued walking.
Officer Chad's mind was spacing out. His brain is filled with things and questions. Most are about the riddles and the figure he saw earlier. He was also thinking about the possibility that the culprit was just around and watching them. He has the feeling of always being watched ever since the investigation started.
"That person. Could he be the killer?" He whispered to himself while biting his nails and playing with his swivel chair.
It's been quite a while since they arrived at the detective's headquarters but he is still thinking of the same thing. He couldn't even notice that one of their colleagues was walking towards his direction.
"Officer Chad, someone was here for you earlier." One of their colleagues said. "I just forgot to tell you because you and Detective Lee were on a meeting when he came." He added.
Devius smiled. "It's fine, who was it?"
"It was Officer Isaac Chase, he came to tell you that miss Daena wants to see you." The man reported.
"Okay, thank you." Devius said then the guy left.
He took his phone out and texted his sister that he'll meet him tonight at the restaurant where they usually goes. They've been too busy with the investigation that he could only send her few messages before going to bed. He also doesn't want to get in contact with her that often because he's worried that the culprit may find her and use her against him. Devius is both a father and a brother to Daena and he will always put her safety first before anything else but the fact that he misses his sister so much is never to deny. Officer Chad smiled as he looked forward on seeing his dearest sister again. When it's finally time to go home, he got excited and went outside in a flash but immediately stopped his tracks. He saw someone very familiar to him even if he just saw him for two or three times as he could remember.
"Police Officer Chad, how are you?" He smiled as he walks towards him.
"Gong Seuk Tae, what are you doing here, kid? It's dangerous to be alone." He asked, wrinkling his forehead.
"I'm here to meet, Detective Lee. He didn't went to visit me this morning, so I came to see him." The kid answered.
"Seuk Tae, it's dangerous for you to be outside alone." Detective Lee spoke behind Officer Chad.
The kid smiled and run towards him, "I just missed you because you didn't meet me this morning. Also, I didn't come here alone." He pouted.
Detective Lee furrowed his brows. "Who are you with then?" He asked.
"Me." Detective Kairo Parker got out of his car with a smile. "He called me because he said he wanted to see you, so I drove him here since I was outside earlier." He explained.
"Okay, thank you, Detective Parker." Cameron said as he ruffled Seuk Tae's hair. "You should have just called me, I gave you my number." He said.
For no apparent reason, Devius felt a bit of annoyance in his chest while watching how Seuk Tae cling at his partner. His face went crumpled and he pouted slightly as well. He just sighed because of what he felt about the situation. He secretly rolled his eyes as he shift his sight into another direction.
"No problem. I was planning on calling you first before bringing him here but he insisted on surprising you." Kairo explained.
"Yeah, don't worry about it. Come on, I'll bring you back." He ruffled Seuk Tae's hair and wrapped his arm around his shoulder. He then turned to Officer Chad. "You want to go with me?"
"Oh? You're here too, Officer Chad? I'm sorry, I didn't notice you." Kairo scratched his head in embarrassment.
"It's fine, Detective Parker." He just said.
"So? Are you going with us, Chad?" Cameron asked again.
"No, I'm fine. I have to meet my sister too. I'm going, bye." After saying that, he waved his hands and quickly walked out of there.
Cameron, Kairo and Seuk Tae just followed him with their eyes, confused. After waving goodbye to Detective Parker, Cameron gestured the kid to hop in his car and then they started heading to their destination.
