《A Tale of Two - Beeduo》New Year٫ New Me

Ranboo's POV:
It was already four days into the new year٫ and I felt no change from the previous one. I was slightly disappointed٫ but I should have seen it coming.
It was the same last year. Nothing changed. I'd still always be that tall loser that walks around school, afraid to say anything to anyone.
I got picked on٫ but I couldn't ever stand up for myself. I had no strength. Anyone could snap me right in half.
I'd also never had a single friend. Never experienced love٫ though I was only in highschool. It still didn't feel right, though.
And tomorrow I'd be going back to school for the first time in almost two months. I just knew that everyone had to have some sort of glowup٫ other than me of course. I wasn't sure I was quite ready٫ but I couldn't stop time٫ though I wish could.
It was currently 9:08pm so I thought about to bed a bit early.
I woke up and stretched. I didn't get as much sleep as I had planned to, but I was sure to be alright. I was just ready to get the day over with.
I got out of bed and started getting ready. I brushed my teeth and my hair. Put on a hoodie and my mask. Changed into jeans٫ and I was ready to go.
I put on my shoes and headed outside. Soon the bus came, and I was off to school.
When I arrived at the school٫ all I could see was people whispering to each other٫ and looking towards the main office. I was confused٫ but I brushed it off. It wasn't my concern.
I couldn't seem to make up a reasonable goal for the year, so I decided on keeping things normal.
I decided to be early to my first class٫ which was math. I stopped by my locker to drop my stuff off and grab my math book.
When I arrived in the classroom٫ I was the only one there٫ along with the math teacher. She was my favorite teacher. She was always nicer to me over everyone else because she knows what I go through on school days.

I greeted her and sat down in the back of the room٫ where I always sat.
I pulled out my phone and just did whatever untill the bell rang٫ and everyone was in their seats.
The teacher began explaining the lesson when all of the suddon٫ the intercom beeped.
"Ranboo, please come to the main office."
My eyes grew wide as everyone began looking at me.
"Ooohhhh, Ranboo's in trouble" A kid across the room said with a smirk.
I nervously stood up from my desk٫ slightly shaking.
"Knock it off٫ Caleb." The math shook her head. "Go ahead, bud. I'm sure you'll get a good grade no matter how much of the lesson you miss." She smiled at me and I smiled back٫ then left the classroom.
I wondered if I had done anything wrong. It was still just the beginning of the day but I really couldn't remember.
I was a bit scared as I strolled down the halls, but I kept my head high. There were still students in the hallways, so I didn't want to seem like I was afraid.
I took a left turn to the main office before slowly opening the door.
"Ah٫ there you are, Ranboo!" The principal said and raised his arm in the air. He was sitting at his large wooden desk.
Standing beside him was a boy who was shorter than me by a foot! He was quite adorable if I'm being honest.
He had slightly messy dark brown hair that almost covered his eyes. I could still see them, though. They were a bright blue color. I thought they were gorgeous.
He quickly reached up and scratched the tip of the small horns on his head, for whatever reason.
He was smiling and looking up at me. I didn't know why٫ but that made me look down at the floor and squeeze my eyes shut. I looked back at him a second later and looked confused٫ but was still smiling. The principal spoke up.

"Ranboo٫ this is a new transfer student. Since you are my most reliable and responsible student٫ not to mention your grades are spectacular٫ I would like if you would show him around and bring him to his locker. Here's his schedule. You can walk with him to his classes if you want, too. Just untill he gets used to things."
"O-ok.. I'll show him around." I said, trying to smile. But you couldn't really tell because I was wearing a mask.
"Great! You two can go do that now than." The prinipal said with glee and waved us off.
I opened the door for the boy to walk out٫ then I followed behind him. He turned around.
"Thank you٫ sir." He waited for me to walk beside him.
"Please٫ just call me Ranboo." I rubbed the back of my neck and laughed a bit.
"Ok٫ Ranboo. I'm Tubbo, by the way." He continued walking beside me but looked up at me.
"N-nice to meet you, Tubbo." I looked at the ground again. I'd always felt uneasy when people stared at me.
"No need to be nervous٫ big man." He started looking foward again. I guess he noticed that I wasn't necessarily comfortable.
"Yeah, you're right.. Sorry٫ I just don't really talk to people." I admitted I was a loner.
"Why not? You seem friendly to me." He looked really confused. His smile faded.
"I-I don't know.. Nobody really wants to talk to me, I guess." I started looking ahead and he stared back at me.
"I'll be your friend."
My eyes grew wide. Someone wanted to be my friend? I guess my year did change a lot more than I expected.
"Can you show me the restroom first?" He started looking around the halls.
"Its down that hall over there." I pointed to the right.
He grabbed my hand and started running toward the direction I pointed at. My eyes widened once again. I also felt my face grow warmer. I had no idea what had happened, but he was making me feel gleeful inside.
He let go of my hand when we arrived in front of the restrooms.
"Wait out here. I'll be quick." He rushed in the bathroom and I heard one of the stall doors slam.
I leaned against the gray painted wall and stared at the clock on the wall across from me. First period was almost over. I was kind of happy to have an excuse to roam the halls. Plus٫ I had just made my very first friend. I still wasn't sure it had fully hit me yet٫ but I was happy.
He rushed out of the bathroom and put his hand on his chest. He was kind of breathing heavily, too.
"Hey! Sorry. I tried to be as quick as possible. I don't want to be the reason you're late to your next class." He clearly felt bad.
"Huh-? Oh٫ no, don't worry about it. I don't like going to class, anyway." I assured him he did nothing wrong.
"Yeah٫ but still. You could still be missing out on a whole lot of work." He looked down.
"I'll be fine٫ Tubbo. Don't overthink it."
"Are you sure?" He looked back up.
"I'm sure." I smiled, but he couldn't tell.
We start walking down the halls, talking and touring at the same time. I enjoyed his company a lot more than I thought I would. I'd finally made a friend٫ and with him٫ I didn't think I really needed any more.

Joie de Vivre
A modern man chased immortality and found it. In a mixture of good and bad luck, he was re-born as part of the Uzumaki clan from the Naruto-verse, some few years before their scheduled destruction. But if Daichi were the sort to allow a little thing like fate to get in his way, he'd never have survived in the first place. Dedicated, intelligent, chock full of ideas from a technologically advanced society, and perfectly willing to scorch the earth, he sets out to avert history. Can he avert canon, save the Uzumaki, and forge his people into a mighty nation? Or will he fail, dooming his clan to extinction? At the end of the day, all he wants is a good life. And considering even Death itself didn't stop him, he pities whoever gets in his way. ================== Tags: Naruto, Reincarnation, OC, eventual multi-cross. ================== Author's (Brief) Note: Back by popular demand. This was my first significant fanfic (and fic in general). I wasn't happy with the writing as time went on, and took it down, but years later am still getting requests to put it back up so I guess some people liked it. Newly re-released as I finish some minor editing, there are about 100,000 words (~360 RRL pages) already written, so releases should be fast until I catch up with the backlog. That said, it may languish in hiatus at that point if the interest isn't high enough to merit continuing, so if you're the type to only read finished stories (or ones where the author promises to do so), I am very specifically not promising that. On the other hand, if enough people read, like, review, comment, rate, etc. then it will get added to my writing schedule. Generally, the character is based on a “how badass could someone who hasn't done ridiculously crazy shit be? Or, how does someone with the potential, in another setting, with a lot of luck, to be a badass act and develop as a modern, productive member of society? And then how would they deal with the Naruto-verse?” Please, please do not judge my writing by this. Unless you really like it, in which case fine, do, but recognize my other writing is likely better (unless it’s that one MTG/ASoIaF/SW fic I did over on SB as a speed-writing experiment, which is also pretty terrible).

Cheep!?
Charles Monroe survived the disappearance of his parents, did his best to hold things together for himself and his sister. He survived when she, too, vanished, leaving behind nothing but a cryptic note. He was devastated, but he kept moving forward as best he could. Cancer didn’t put him down, and after suffering through several rounds of chemotherapy, Charles Monroe thought that things might finally be looking up. That is, until a virulent strain of ebola swept through the city. With his immune system strained as it is, the odds don’t look good for Charles. Now, on the bridge between life and death, he hears a voice claiming to know where his family went. It claims that it needs his help and that it can give him a second life, one far away from all the pain he’s ever known. So, Charles answers as any reasonable person would. He says no. Charles isn't ready or willing to die yet. But, as with everything else to this point, even his choice to keep fighting is taken from him all too soon. With no other option but the dark oblivion of death, Charles chooses to make a deal with the spirit of a distant world that's seeking a wild card in its battle against the gods, monsters, and mortals that threaten its existence. Someday, he’ll find where his family went. Someday, he’ll uphold his end of the bargain and hunt beings powerful beyond anything he’s ever known. Someday, he might even – hatch? “CHEEP!?” Things to Know: -Cheep!? Will release on a minimum weekly schedule. -After a backlog of chapters, posting will slow, but in the interim you can expect a chapter a day up until roughly 25 chapters. -This story at times will potentially carry some heavy moments, but the tone is intended to be lighter overall. -There are invisible game-like elements in this story, but nothing so concrete as a dedicated gamelit novel. -I personally have some issues with anxiety, so I may or may not interact with the community a lot. I'll try if anyone has questions, but I can't guarantee that it'll be consistent. -MC is a non-human lead, and will never actually become human. Romance will potentially happen between side-characters, but not with the MC. -MC IS NOT THE ONLY VIEW POINT. I have to put that out there because people sometimes hate alternate PoV's in a story. None of them will be filler, and they'll be there only to give a little bit more nuance and meaning to the world that the MC has stepped in, or is about to be imminently important. I'll try to keep them down, but this also helps to prevent me from burning out getting trapped in one view. -Most of all, I hope that this story is enjoyable to you, and that you have a great time reading it! -Written by Michael Adams, Cowritten/Edited by Summer Kent
