'It's been a long time since I've visited this house, so I did a little tour of it to find out if everything is still in order.'
'"The garden looks a little damp..."'
'Apparently, Erick kept his promise that time I gave him money to contact Alfonso to take care of my house. I bought the house from him, so I'm sure he's someone I trust. Even more so since it was Erick who introduced me to him.'
'In the garden, the luminous flowers are slowly growing. Perhaps in a few more days or weeks they will be able to deliver that characteristic light they show in the labyrinth. I am looking forward to that day soon.'
'"There isn't even any grass. The hired staff is doing their job very well"'
'Since it's like this, I stopped worrying about the security of this house. Everything will be fine even if I don't do anything.'
'After returning to my room, I activate the Space Travel magic without a spell in between and travel through it to a certain place I'm quite familiar with. With hundreds of people still awake, and with the torches lit… All this adds a special atmosphere to this place surrounded by tents of different characteristics.'
'Of course, I'm referring to the rear army.'
'Carrying a sword at my waist and without any concealment, I approached the territory we visited today in the afternoon together with the 3 annoying beauties... The Golden Lion guild.'
'"Sorry to bother you" I approach a Knight and say "Do you know what I have to do to be part of the staff in the war that will be waged against the Red Flag guild?"'
'After my words, the man looked at me from head to toe and then smiled.'
'"I don't know, but you can ask the secretary" Saying that, he turned around and walked away without waiting for my answer.'
'If he thought his attitude would stop me, he was wrong. Heeding his advice, I went to the secretary... Who, by the way, I had to ask several people to find out his exact location.'
'It is a man with glasses and a thin build who is sitting at a desk full of papers all around him.'

'"Good evening, I'd like to know-..." He interrupted me.'
'"Extra staff, right? I've seen many like you… go ask the supply manager if he can make room for you, though I doubt it..."'
'With such words, he waved his hand indicating for me to leave.'
'"Haa..."'
'Sighing, I go to the supply attendant, who I also had a hard time finding his whereabouts.'
'"Extra personnel? I remember that we're up to the allowed limit of members, but go ask the division captain just in case, though I doubt it..." Said the man in charge of supplies.'
'Emir: "..."'
'***'
'"Sorry, there are no more quotas for the war against the Red Flag guild. Next!"'
'After asking dozens of different people and standing for more than two hours doing different types of queues, that's the final answer I got from the representative of the second in command.'
'Emir: "..."'
'Couldn't they have just put up a sign with the words 'No more slots available' at the damn guild entrance? It would have saved me two hours!'
'Haa. I'm mentally and physically exhausted. I need to rest.'
'Walking like a zombie, I sat down on a cut log nearby.'
'"Next!" shouted the representative.'
'Seeing the line in front of the representative, I could finally understand the look on the Knight's I first asked face... Surely that man also spent two hours standing in line, and took revenge on me!'
'Well, it's time to release some stress.'
'I went to the entrance of the guild and put on a serious and cold look while looking at the moon. Seconds later, a man approached.'
'"Sorry for the inconvenience, but... Whom do I have to talk to be part of the guild war?" Said the man very politely.'
'I looked at him from head to toe, and then smiled arrogantly.'
'"I don't know, but you can ask the secretary" Without waiting for his answer, I turn around and walk away from him.'
'Yes, this is the feeling I was looking for! My stress bar quickly dropped by half. I feel like my energy is returning. Is this how Commander Cael feels after annoying his employees?'
'Because it seems like a very effective strategy to save himself a visit to the psychologist!'
'After sitting back down on the cut log near the representative, I looked at the people lining up.'
'Since the guild doesn't have any more slots available, I'll have to force myself into a space!'

'I know that at some point one of them will come to this place, AND… he can only blame his bad luck that I saw him!'
'While patiently waiting, I managed to get a lot of information regarding the guild wars.'
'The small and medium guilds must attend to this war on the borders; they have no room to refuse. The only exceptions to the rule are the big guilds. These have greater freedom in the Castemira kingdom, and their word is heard. And, if the kingdom wishes one of them to join this war, they must create a mutually agreeable contract where both parties benefit.'
'These contracts mostly refer to exclusivity in purchasing weapons and wholesale prices in various trades. That's why people go out of their way to join a guild and enjoy these benefits.'
'Now in this war, the guilds must fight with guilds of the opposing side according to whatever term they propose, but with the sole purpose of finding talents and collecting all information that can be obtained from them.'
'Of course, this information will be used to subsequently assassinate them.'
'The second most important thing about the wars between guilds is supremacy. As commander Cael once said, this is a war of egos. As long as the kingdoms manage to prove that their power is greater than the rival's, then the real war will begin.'
'Until then, both kingdoms are testing the waters, and that is where the guilds are most useful.'
'In the end, they are just chess pieces.'
'[Leandro] [Swordsman Lvl 14]'
'Sometime later, a man approaches the representative without lining up according to the established rule. He should be punished for doing this action, but quite the contrary, he was greeted with a smile from the representative.'
'"Leandro! What are you doing awake at this hour? Go rest. In the morning, the bell will be rung to wake you up and prepare for the war."'
'"Hahaha, I know, I know! No need to worry, I was paid to be here, and I will fulfill my contract to the letter."'
'You were paid to be here… with a contract?'
'Smiling, I got up from the log and casually dusted myself off. He's the man I've been looking for, after all!'
'"I see you still have energy to spare, but take my advice." Said the representative with a serious look.'
'''Haa... Fine, whatever you say. I just came to tell you that the guild master is calling for you."'
'"I understand. I'll be right over."'
'With such words, the representative and Leandro took their leave. At the same time as the line in front of the representative was dispatched, no more requests were accepted for today.'
'Without hesitation, I begin to follow Leandro, trying not to be discovered.'
'As for his appearance, he is extremely muscular, to the point that it makes you think he uses drugs. If it wasn't for the sword at his waist, anyone would have mistaken him for a bodybuilder!'
'Once he entered his tent, I waited until no one was around and then approached the entrance.'
'"Delivery service!"'
'"Huh? But I haven't ordered anything..."'
'"Is the Swordsman Leandro here?"'
'"Yes, it's me."'
'''Then there is no mistake, I was asked to deliver this item to you. The service is already paid for, all you have to do is sign."'
''-Is it free? Well, I lose nothing by accepting it' Human weakness kicked in when Leandro understood that it was free, and he didn't hesitate to go and open his tent'
'When Leandro came out, I showed him the paper.'
'"Is this where I should sign?"'
'With a smile from ear to ear, I said "Activate."'
'Leandro: "!!!!"'
'He only managed to open his eyes wide as the parchment was completely consumed, thus activating the hypnosis magic.'
'With the hypnosis active, he now has lifeless eyes awaiting my orders.'
'"For now, let me enter your tent."'
'"Go ahead, you may come in"'
'"Thank you."'
'Inside, I sit quietly in an armchair while he sits on his bed.'
'Well now... what should I do with you?'
'If I hypnotize him by asking him to break the contract and not go to war, then some problems will occur since... It is so difficult to break the contract made with a guild. Most likely, they will force him to fulfill it even against his will.'
'So, let's change perspective... What can I do to make it the guild who breaks the contract first?'
'After thinking for a while, I managed to come up with the answer.'
'"You just have to be unable to fight!" I happily say'

Hazelsong: A LitRPG Novel
Release Schedule: I will be moving to a set release schedule as of 1/1/2022. A new chapter will be released every Saturday at Noon EST. If I have time that week for a second chapter, I will leave a note on the Saturday chapter and post the second chapter on Sunday at Noon EST. An up to date character sheet for the MC Erik will also be posted on Sundays at 12:15 PM. If life happens and I am for some reason unable to write that week, I will post a blank chapter giving you an update on where I am with my writing. Saturday Noon EST: First weekly chapter Sunday Noon EST: Second weekly chapter (if I have the time) Sunday 12:15 EST: Updated character sheet Synopsis: Years after surviving a deadly accident, Erik struggles to come to terms with his painful disability. When offered the chance to playtest the world's first full immersion VRMMO, he wants nothing more than to retreat back into his secluded life, until he learns what Hazelsong really offers. An escape from the pain. Hazelsong is a world of magic and adventure, a place where friendships are formed, loot is won, and glory and fame are there for the taking. While the threats feel real and the stakes are always high, there is only one thing Erik is really in danger of. Forgetting which world is actually real. Story Themes: Hazelsong is a LitRPG novel that not only explores the fictional world of a realistic online fantasy realm but the life of a man suffering in silence from chronic pain and PTSD due to a significant physical injury and disability. Mental health is an important subject and we all know at least one person in our lives who has or is dealing with some form of mental illness. I plan on putting my best effort forward to represent these illnesses in a fair and accurate manner. Not as a cheap plot device to help make the protagonist more unique, but to help paint an accurate picture for those of us who have been lucky enough to not have to suffer in silence. About the Author: I am Ash Durra, general video game nerd and a connoisseur of fantasy and sci-fi of all shapes and sizes. Needless to say, I am not a professional author (B.S. and M.S. in Education, 8 years teaching). After really getting into LitRPG novels over the past several years, I found my way to Royal Road, which has inspired me to use my spare time to begin writing a story of my own creation. As this is a hobby, I am not writing and posting chapters on any kind of specific schedule at the moment, though my goal is to post on average 1-2 chapters a week. I am incredibly excited to share this story with others as I write it, and I look forward to any constructive feedback about how I can improve in my writing.

Iron and Wood - A Tale Of Empire and Clans
For centuries, the Midlands had been split into fragments. A once glorious, united Empire has become a shadow of its former self. Unity has not returned, and not for the lack of trying. The greatest of these successor states were the Li Dynasty to the south, the rulers of old, and the Emerald Empire to the North, with its vibrant vitality. Unity is the end goal, and both will sacrifice anything to attain this elusive dream. For unity would surely solve the conflict that had long plagued this once prosperous continent. The Ironwood Clan was a prime player. Some would consider them the ones holding the reigns to the horse named 'Unification'. Iron and wood were the backbones of civilization; similarly, the Ironwoods were the backbones of the Northern Empire, and by extension, the people of the Midlands. Their methods, as questionable as they might be, had strengthened the North. Yet, were they enough? In the midst of it all, a young Ironwood who had lost his path must once again find his way. For the sake of his own wellbeing; for the sake of his clan; and for the sake of the Empire and its subjects. However, is he willing to sacrifice for the good of all? Is he willing to condemn some for the sake of others? Is he willing to make the right, albeit harsh, decisions? Only the heavens would know. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, events and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Additionally, any views and beliefs expressed by the characters are not the author's own. The story is also not an endorsement of any actions taken within. The 'profanity' and 'sexual content' warning tags are there to be safe (and to leave room for potential future changes), but for now these two things are not inside this novel. This is my take on 'cultivation', though it might be somewhat disconnected from the general idea of the genre. Release schedule: Two chapters a week. The cover was created using wombo art. While I believe that creations using the app are in the public domain, if that is not the case, I will take it down.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
