《Judah Judas Adventures》Chapter 19 - Inner beast

In a few moments we arrived in front of the palace, and there we discovered some knights, magicians, and squires who were waiting to prepare the carriages that will deliver them in the war we will fight. I couldn't see the faces of those soldiers very well because it was dark outside, but some magicians lit their wands like candles. I also wanted to make this ignition spell, but when I took the wand in my hand I realized one thing, I did not find in the spell book I had bought some time ago any spell to illuminate the wand to helps to see in the dark.
I was about to put the wand in its place, but a young witch comes up to me and asks if I need help. I tell her I don't know the spell I could use to light the wand like the others, and she smiles at me and tells me.
" It is Lighter."
" Aha. Thanks." I respond to the girl after I used the spell with my wand and it is working.
" No problem. " responded the girl. "Anyone new to magic needs some help."
After I use the spell I could see some of the knights, squires, and magicians. I discovered what the girl who helped me with this lighting spell looks like. What impressed me about her is the fact that she wears wizard clothes, she is probably two years older than me and she wears behind her a parchment about her height, which is rolled a lot of times and older than her if it is to go after the paper that started to turn yellow due to time.
That face has orange hair, freckles on her young face, and a scar on her forehead that is just a horizontal line.

"Ah. You're Fiona's squire, aren't you? "
"Yes," I answer that girl with orange hair.
"Good. Looks like he decided to take a wizard. Now, beginner, this is your first war, right? "
"Yes ... It seems so."
"Do not worry. This war will be a short one. Surely we will all be alive in the end. "
"Don't go, Georgia." says a guy who comes to that girl with orange hair.
That boy, who is probably older than that witch and Fiona takes her face and goes with her to a group of knights and magicians gathered in a small group, who looks at me and Fiona as if we were some expired food of which not even an animal would want to taste, no matter how hungry it may be.
Fiona takes my hand and tells me that we have to go to the group we will leave with. We both get up and go to the courtyard of the palace. And when I got there I discovered thirteen knights and magicians who were lined up and waiting for their carriages to come. Fiona and I went to the end of that queue, and there we waited until the carriage came to transport us to the war zone.
"Who were you talking about while I was absent?" Fiona suddenly asks me when I didn't even realize she was gone while I talked to that young witch.
"With a girl... who is probably a witch like me," I respond not feeling so sure if that girl is truly a witch.
"I see. You know the name of that girl, don't you?"
"No. She didn't tell me."
"That girl you talked to is a very bizarre one because she is always one or two steps ahead of solving a case of the royal knights or magicians. Many say that that girl stages the cases she is always in front of us to reach the rank faster or others say that she is lucky, but I try to believe more the first option."

"... Well... I think the second one is plausible for me."
Fiona sighs, then she tells me.
"Have you ever heard of the famous expression? The snake changes its skin, but not its personality. This expression... could apply here. Be careful with the people you are talking alright while I am absent, alright ?"
"Alright," I respond to Fiona feeling anxious because she is looking at me like one of those nuns who I've got at the Orphanage.
After a few minutes, Fiona and I climbed into one of the carriages, but not alone, but with two other people. The people I got in the carriage with are the ones I never expected to share a carriage with. In the carriage is that boy who wears an orange robe and the knight who hired him as a squire. The boy who got that orange robe is called Gregonson if I have to remember the last time when he told me his name. And the other guy, who is most likely to be his knight, looks like a normal one who wears armour who belongs to the Army of Romania and carry at his back a sword.
"H-Hello." I said to Gregonson.
"Hi, there." says Gregonson looking at me and Fiona, but when he was looking at Fiona, he started to tremble, which seems weird because Fiona was looking at the carriage window to see if everything is alright.
Fiona turns around, he looks at that knight, and then he smiled at him.
"Henderson... I never thought you will come to war. I thought you hate those things."
"Don't judge me, Fiona. I may hate the wars, but sometimes you violate the principles to live. Anyway, I and Gregonson will not stay long here, because after a few minutes we will leave on the second battlefield."
"Second battlefield? I thought the war is going to happen in a single place."
"You guessed wrong, Fiona. The war will happen on more battlefields because it is a war, not a battle. I still don't believe you are a knight after all of these years." said Henderson feeling like a parent who has seen his children grades.
I looked at Fiona and I could feel she is triggered and about to take out her knife, because the giant sword is in other carriages who are filled with weapons like swords, axes, shields, arrows, crossbows and even more types of weapons I currently have no idea what their names are. Gregonson begins to sit in a strange position, his legs curled up, raises a forefinger, and makes an imaginary cross for a few moments. He makes that cross I think about four times, after which Gregonson whispers something that can't be deciphered by me because he whispers in a completely different language unknown to me, but probably known to the knight named Henderson, who lets Gregonson do what he has to do, even if it seems strange.
Henderson looked at me, then he looked at my wand and after that, he said to me.
"Nice wand."
"Thanks..." I respond to Henderson feeling anxious because of this unexpected compliment.
After that, Henderson looks at Fiona and said to her a thing that made me curious.
"Do you know this wizard is not powerful enough to stop your inner beast?"

The Fate Eater
What might a man really do if he found himself reincarnated into a fantasy world as a dragon prince? How would he come to terms with his new nature, his larger-than-life family, the agendas of warring factions, and the destiny he never asked for? This is a story that intends to defy some isekai tropes, but play into others. It's mainly about exploring a rich hand-crafted world, full of its own history and mysteries. Its characters have their own lives and aspirations, and our protagonist is but a piece of the greater tapestry. This story is not about right and wrong, or good and evil. It's about a dragon-man being tested by fate, power, and time. It's about what it's like to live as an outsider who lost their home. But perhaps the most central theme is freedom. What does freedom really mean? What will it cost and how much might one be willing to pay for it? Does it even truly exist? Let's find out together.

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
