《A Dance With Hades》Fifty Seven.

I can't keep my eyes off the ring on my finger. It fits perfectly and it just looks so amazing. I have so many questions to ask Vincenzo about my ring, but it's so distracting.
We've been sitting at the table with the rest of the family for about thirty minutes and everyone on the main floor of the ballroom have been having a good time.
Unfortunately, my said mother and sister are also seated at the table with us. My mother wasn't even happy that someone just proposed to me.
All she could go on about is how Jessica is supposed to get married first because she's the prettier one. I don't even care for her presence anymore so she might as well take her leave, taking her annoying daughter with her just to make the situation even better.
A few of the guests congratulated us on the proposal before we sat down while others praised me for how beautiful this ball looks and that I have done a great job for someone who isn't used to this life.
I've actually been to a few balls where my father was the host, but I didn't plan any of them.
There was a woman who warned me about getting married to someone like Vincenzo while I was walking up the stairs, but I didn't hear her entire warning.
Nicola pulled me away from her as I tried listening to her, telling me she's just a bitter old hag because Vincenzo isn't marrying her daughter instead and that I shouldn't listen to what she was telling me.
"You like it? You've been staring it for a while," Vincenzo says from besides me and I look up at him. Worry and concern runs through his stormy eyes and I quickly cup his face.
"I love it, it's beautiful," I say with a smile and he smiles. I can only see one emotion in his eyes, and I hope he can tell that I feel the same way.
"Good, that thing cost more than this house," Lorenzo laughs while shaking his head.
"Excuse me?" I turn my attention to him, a bit shocked that he just said that, and he smiles at us.
"Those are obviously all real diamonds and because he had it made in one day, it cost him extra," Lorenzo says and I look at Vincenzo with narrowed eyes.
"We were running around the city trying to find a jeweller who would do the job so quickly," Riccardo is the one to explain and Vincenzo awkwardly laughs. "Tell her how much it cost you," he says with a smirk.
"Uhhh..." I only narrow my eyes at him even more as he fumbles over his words. "It cost me three quarters of a million," he says in a hushed tone.

My father chokes on his water as my eyes widen. "What?" Both my father and I say. Vincenzo just smiles at us and I catch a glimpse of my sister grinning at Riccardo like she can just swallow him whole.
"This ring costs more than my life," I say while looking down at the jewel on my finger.
"Your life is priceless amore," Vincenzo whispers into my ear and I smile.
"There's the cheeseball I know," I laugh as he pulls away from my head. "Let's go dance," I say to everyone at the table and they nod, my mother and sister included.
We get up and they wait for Vincenzo and I to start walking. The family follows us down to the main floor, the multiple guests parting to make way for us to walk past.
Vincenzo leads me to the middle of the dancefloor and the music swicthea immediately.
The people around us grab the nearest man or woman as Vincenzo starts dancing and I follow his lead. Before I can even get the hang of the dance steps, Vincenzo passes me on to the next person.
"I've always wanted to do this," I say mostly to myself but the man in front of me hears me and he chuckles a bit.
His salt and pepper hair tells me that he has probably attended a lot of balls like these. I try focusing on my steps, but I mess up a few of them.
"Excuse my rigid dancing, I have two left feet," I say and the man nods with a smile. I get the hang of it and the man nods as he also notices.
It feels like the switch happens faster than before as I get passed on to the next person. The sound of shoes tapping and clicking against the floor as one person moves to the next makes me smile.
"The new Donna," he says while looking me up and down. I don't like him for some reason. "What a pretty piece of meat." I knew there was something wrong with this guy.
"Excuse me?" I grit, purposely stepping on his foot with the edge of my heel. I drive the heel of my shoe deeper into his shoe, making sure to hurt him as much as possible.
The man contains a scream and groans lowly instead. He let's go of my body and lifts his foot up, breaking the little dance we were having for a second.
I impatiently wait for the switch and I gladly move on to the next person on my own. "Nyx Manson," the man says and I narrow my eyes at him. He keeps his hands in the green zone which makes me happy.

"And you are?"
"Quinton," he says with a slight Cali accent. "I'm in charge of the base in California." His hand shift a bit lower while he lifts the other to mine.
He spins me around and I smile as I get to see the entire room mid spin. He stops spinning me around and I giggle because that was absolutely fun. "Congratulations."
I don't even get to say thank as he switches to the next person. "You are a very beautiful woman," the man says and I don't show any emotion on my face.
We move to the beat of the music, my feet not betraying me this time. "Vincenzo is very lucky," his accent suddenly switches to one that made it hard for me to hear his exact words.
"Are you–" the man spins me around and let's go of me. I spin into the arms of someone else and smile when I get a whiff of their scent. "Riccardo," I say as he smiles down at me.
"My beautiful sorellina. How does it feel to be engaged?" He asks and I just shrug with a giggle. "You drive my brother mad," he says while shaking his head.
We step to the side then back then forward, repeating the same motion a few times. "And he drives me up the wall," I say with a bit of sarcasm which Riccardo catches.
"All hail the new Queen," he says before the swicth happens. I end up in back in the hands of my fiance. Just seeing him as that now feels so unreal.
"Having fun?" He asks as he draws me closer to his body. He moves us more to the middle of the dancefloor and people move away from us.
People even stop dancing just to watch us dance. Vincenzo spins me around then brings me back to his chest. "I'm having a good time," I say with a wide smile.
My eyes move over the ballroom and I notice something odd. The guards that were stationed at the north side of the ballroom on the second floor are no longer there.
"What's wrong?"
"I can't see the guards on the north side," I say while squinting. All of the other guards are where they are supposed to be so it's a bit worrisome that the guards on he north side are not there.
Did someone bypass the security?
Are we in danger?
Vincenzo turns us around so he can see the north side while I see the guards on the south side of the ballroom. "Oh, you mean the ones who are supposed to be on the second floor?" I nod and he smiles.
"I know where they are, don't worry about it," he says and I only nod. Everyone has stopped dancing to watch us and it is kind of nerve wracking.
"They are watching us," I whisper and Vincenzo chuckles. His hand moves down my back, sending chills down my spine the further it moves.
"Your back is completely exposed," he says while narrowing his eyes at me.
"So is my leg." I step to the side, the slit exposing my thigh. Some cheers come from the crowd and I shyly smile. "It's not that bad." He spins me around so my back is pressed against his chest.
I sway my hips to the sides and he follows my movements as his hands find their place on my hips. I bring my arms up to his neck and lock them there.
People cheer and clap as I practically grind on Vincenzo. "You are giving them a show," he whispers into my ear. "I don't like it," he groans as he gently pushes me forward.
He grabs my arm and I turn to look at him with a mischievous smile. I sway my hips around and his eyes follow the motion, a bunch of men finding it right to send catcalls my way.
I step to the side, exposing my leg a bit more and Vincenzo groans, an amused look on his face. I step closer to him, following the beat of the music with each step.
"Let's wrap it up then," I say to him and he smiles. I bring my leg up to his hip, the slit sliding to the sides, exposing my entire leg and holster.
His eyes drop down to the holster wrapped around my leg and he smiles before bringing his eyes back up to me. He keeps a firm hold on my leg as he takes a step forward.
He dips me and slowly turns, my eyes bouncing off each face looking at us right now. I catch a glimpse of my father's shocked face and I can't help but to giggle.
Vincenzo stops turning so I'm looking at the stairs that lead up to the door. He leans down and kisses my neck.
"Beautiful."
