《Their Human》Chapter forty five: won

"Gia, sweety go back to your room." My father said, gently nudging the back of the little girl.

I was still staring at her in shock, unable to even form any words. They had a child and that child was holding a stuffed toy.

I've never owned one in my life.

"Who are they?" Gia asked again, her widened eyes staring right at me.

"It's no one, just a few grown people having dinner. If you go, I'll buy you donuts tomorrow." Father negotiated with her. The girl's eyes lit up and she nodded eagerly. "Can we get the blue ones again, daddy?"

Again? They let her eat donuts.

"Whichever ones you want, princess."

And did he just call me 'no one'?

I looked away from the somewhat sickening sight in front of me and faced the three men that were looking at me expectantly. They were probably waiting for me to tell them what to do now. We couldn't beat them up now, there was an innocent child here.

"Uh... I... We should uh—" I paused, placing my hand on my forehead. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. They quite literally replaced me with someone else, which is why they never cared to contact me this entire time. To make matters even more hurtful, they quite literally treat her like how I've always wanted. They love her.

"Deep breath, darling. I know this is difficult." Alexander said to me, placing his hand on my thigh. I held it tightly under the table and nodded slowly.

"Let's just, find a way to steal them. Maybe throw them out the window and someone can load them up in the car." I suggested. They nodded at me.

"They're in their bedroom if I remember correctly, I just don't know how I'll open the safe."

"I'll help you open it," Silas said. Alexander shook his head.

"It's probably better if I go up with her. We are a married couple after all so it won't seem weird if we both do." He said, looking at me. Silas clenched his jaw and forced a smile, nodding in agreement. "Good point."

"Alrighty! Dinner is here!" My mother shouted, appearing from the kitchen with a large bowl of food. "I made cottage pie and fortunately it's enough to feed the whole community." She said with a smile. She placed it at the center of the table and went back to the kitchen to get the plates and glasses.

My father sat down, placing his elbows on the circular table. He was facing me and he stared at me deeply, as if he was trying to see if it was me. His eyes darted to Alexander, "So... How long have you known my daughter?"

"I met her a few months ago at her workplace. I was assisting with an experiment and I happened to be partnered up with her." Alexander said smoothly. I nodded slowly, surprised at how good of a liar he was.

"I fell in love with her immediately and I knew that I had to marry her. The rest was history." He said, kissing my cheek. I smiled and kissed him deeply, making my father laugh.

"Good, I'm glad to see Aki happy. You clearly make her feel that." He said, his blue eyes squinting as he smiled.

"What did I miss?" Mom asked as she sat down next to dad. She kissed him before dishing up for everyone.

"Oh nothing, just learning some more about these love birds right here." He told her.

I could see Silas rolling his eyes at the corner of my eye and I just hoped that he wouldn't say anything rude.

"This was supposed to be our moment." He growled in my head. "I'm your man, not him. Just because I let him kiss you doesn't mean bull."

I looked up at him and his eyes were slightly turning red. I slowly shook my head at him, begging him to calm down. He was scaring me.

"Hey mom, I uh... I didn't know you had another baby." I said, looking away from Silas. My parents looked at each other before turning back to me.

"Well, she wasn't really meant to be here. I was just lonely after you left us..."

"You mean after you chased me away?" I interrupted her explanation.

"No, after you abandoned your family to be a scientist." My father said with a disapproving look. "I saw the car you own. It's not expensive. It's the car of a normal person. You clearly earn peanuts and you should've been an engineer like we told you to be—"

"Are you joking?" I asked with a fake laugh. "My house is twice the size of this one and I live alone!" I hissed at him.

"Still disrespectful I see," my mom mumbled to herself.

"Still don't love me, I see." I snapped at her. "You guys treated me like crap my whole life and when I leave to become successful and make you proud, you replace me with another baby and treat her like she's your perfect little princess."

"She is our perfect little princess!" My mom screamed.

"Oh! And I wasn't? I was the unplanned abomination of a child! The one you wished you aborted!" I screamed, standing up and slamming my hands on my desk.

"Baby," Alexander mumbled.

"Stay out of this, please." I whispered to him, tears rolling down my cheeks. "What did I do to deserve this from you? Why do you hate me so much?" I asked them. They were looking anywhere but at me.

"Answer me dammit!" I screamed, making them flinch. My mother started crying, snuggling up to my dad and he looked at me angrily. "Are you happy now? Years of abandoning us and you return only to break our hearts." He said to me, shaking his head in disappointment.

"My heart has been broken for years, father but you never once apologized for it."

"But we made you into something huh? Look at you. Would you have made it without the pressure we gave you?"

"Go to hell and you can take your perfect little princess with you." I spat at them, storming upstairs. I heard Alexander excuse himself before he followed me up. I quickly wiped my tears and pushed into their room.

"Akielia!" Alexander called after me. I ignored him and rushed to a painting of the happy couple, only to find it has been changed to a family photo of them with their new daughter. I wasn't in the picture. I swallowed the bile in my throat and pushed it.

As I remembered it when I was ten, it slid off the wall, exposing a large metal safe. It had a dial pad for the code but I had no idea what it was.

"Akielia, can we discuss what just happened," Alexander asked. I shook my head, still looking at the safe.

"I'm not opening it until we talk about it."

"What is there to talk about? They made it clear that I mean nothing and their brat means everything!" I screamed, running my hands over my hair.

"Don't call her that, she knows nothing. She can barely speak straight." Alexander mumbled.

"Who's side are you on, Alexander? Seriously." I asked him, crossing my arms at him. He placed his hands on my shoulders and pulled me closer to him. "Obviously I'm on yours but I won't pretend to be alright if you're wrong. I wouldn't love you if that's the case." He said to me.

"You have every reason to hate your parents and I can't imagine how you must feel right now but maybe this is a sign to move on."

"How?" I asked him softly.

"You've proved that you became better than what they wanted you to become. They just can't accept it. You've won, now you need to let it all go."

"But they don't love me. I have no one."

"Had no one. I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere." He told me, hugging me tightly. The smell of his cologne filled my nostrils and I smiled, feeling safer than I have ever felt in my life.

"I love you, Alexander." I whispered, "I really do."

"And I love you. Now let's get these weapons so we can go far away from here."

"Uhm, actually... Can you get started with it? I want to talk to... To my sister."

Alexander smiled at me and watched me walk away, "that's my girl."
