Chapter 1253 What Exactly Is This?
“Look out!”
Andrew, the commander of the Bloody Lion Mercenaries, hastily handled each challenge and retreated in defeat time and again in the face of the attacks from the three stone statues. Fang Qiu, seized by an impulse, shouted and rushed forward.
“Pow!”
Fang Qiu raised his fist and slammed it directly against the fist of the giant stone statue. A terrifying energy Qi instantly rippled in all directions from the point of impact.
Aside…
Andrew was almost out of breath as he dealt with his enemies’ ceaseless attacks. He used this opportunity and took a few steps back to rest and recover a little, regardless of whether the newcomer was a friend or foe.
Ahead of them…
Fang Qiu fought with all his strength and crushed all three stone statues as rapidly as before.
After this clean sweep…
Fang Qiu went over to Andrew.
Only then did Andrew get a glimpse of Fang Qiu.
“Well Known?”
Andrew was surprised the moment he recognized Fang Qiu.
“How did you get in?”
Fang Qiu asked bluntly without hesitation, “Didn’t you leave early with your men? How could you be here?”
“Some people brought us in.”
Andrew said.
“Oh?”
Fang Qiu’s eyebrows lifted and he asked, “Were there others besides your Bloody Lion Mercenaries?”
“All the individual cultivators arrived here too.”
Andrew nodded and added, “We were on our way to leave, but those individual cultivators came halfway there and ambushed us. Later, another pack of independent cultivators ran into us. After they successfully mediated for us, they told us they had a way to enter the ruin and the treasure map. They could take us with them to search for treasures, but the premise was that we should be united because we had no guru.”
“Individual cultivators?”
Fang Qiu was stunned.
“How could there be another group of individual cultivators?”
“Yes.”
Andrew spoke with a nod, “The cultivators in this pack didn’t tell us their names or which countries they came from, and they didn’t look familiar. Yet, they had a treasure map. After they entered the relic, they took us into the pyramid and passed quickly through the maze. But as soon as we were out of the maze, we accidentally walked into the black fog. I felt my way forward and reached this place and did not see anyone else along the way.”
“Something’s wrong.”
When Fang Qiu heard his tale, he immediately shook his head and said, “Individual cultivators who possessed the treasure map would be only too anxious to take all the treasures for themselves. Why would they bring all of you in?”
“I had the same feeling.”
Andrew nodded in agreement and said, “But when we saw that they knew how to tackle the problems, we believed them.”
Fang Qiu’s eyebrows furrowed.
It seemed that…
This matter was anything but simple.
Fang Qiu stepped forward as he mulled over this.
“Wait.”

Andrew quickly stood up and said, “I’ll go with you. The black fog has blurred my vision, so I can’t see the surroundings. It’s too dangerous to go alone. It’s safer for us to go together.”
“Um.”
Fang Qiu nodded assent.
After that…
They walked forward together.
As they walked, they were constantly vigilant of their surroundings.
On their way…
“Clap, clap, clap…”
A burst of loud fighting could be heard
“Some people are there?”
Andrew asked at once.
“Shh!”
Fang Qiu silenced him with a gesture and whispered, “Let’s wait and see.”
Just after that…
A few words floated to them from the battlefield ahead.
Some people were talking in the Huaxia language!
“Huaxia people?”
Andrew asked in a low voice.
“Let’s go.”
When he discovered that Huaxia people were engaged in the battle ahead, Fang Qiu immediately darted forth to join them and asked in the Huaxia language, “Who attacked you?”
“Someone from Egyptt.”
A response came from the battlefield.
Fang Qiu rushed up at once.
Andrew followed at Fang Qiu’s heels.
“Rahman.”
Just after Fang Qiu entered the battlefield, he sensed that someone had launched a fierce attack on the two Huaxia people.
Fang Qiu took a closer look and saw a sharp spear piercing through the fog before him. Instantly, he knew it was the Egyptt guru.
“You?”
Andrew’s eyes instantly turned bloodshot with anger when he spotted the spear.
He had distinct memories of the tragic experience he had suffered outside: how the Egyptt guru nearly killed him. He couldn’t take this lying down, but he was not strong enough to avenge himself.
But now…
His opportunity had arrived.
So what if he was a guru? Even a guru couldn’t see what was taking place in the dense black fog, which was equivalent to losing sight.
And this battle was four against one. The Egyptt guru would suffer severely even if he survived.
“Get rid of him!”
Andrew roared.
“Attack together!”
Fang Qiu echoed his shout.
At this time, he could not reveal his true strength.
More and more strange things happened in this relic. There might be a big conspiracy behind the scenes. Fang Qiu knew that the people who hid behind the scenes must have been observing all the people who entered the relic. Thus, he had to keep his power under wraps when he counterattacked, especially when those behind the scenes showed up. If he exposed his full capabilities early, it would attract their attention and worsen the situation.
“It’s you?”
When he heard Fang Qiu and Andrew talking, Rahman, the Egyptt guru, also instantly recognized them. He immediately sneered and said, “Since you have come to me, don’t think about going back alive!”
He ended his speech…
Incomparably mighty Qi power erupted from him as he charged madly at his four enemies.
Here…
The four joined forces.
Under the cover of the black fog, everyone fought with great care. With Fang Qiu’s help in secret, they managed to dodge all attacks from Rahman and even succeeded in attacking him relentlessly.

The two Huaxia people found a chance to use their concealed weapons.
Rahman fired, and Fang Qiu was also busy — he found the right opportunity and wielded his Great Hand of Destruction. Strikes from all directions were directed swiftly at Rahman.
Rahman, a guru, successfully fended off their attacks but was too busy to attack actively.
More importantly…
Fang Qiu issued the commands in the Huaxia language, which Rahman didn’t understand. So, the four could swiftly change their positions — as they approached and retreated flexibly, which left Rahman with no chance to press forward his assault!
In this case, anger and grievance welled up in Rahman’s heart.
After holding on for five minutes, Rahman couldn’t stand it anymore and eventually snapped; he threw away the long spear in his hand. In the darkness, it dashed around and stabbed wildly in all directions.
Meanwhile, he produced an electrifying burst of speed that only a guru could process and struck out wildly.
Under these conditions…
Fang Qiu could only tell everyone to retreat instantly.
Even so, they still suffered some minor injuries. After all, the outbreak of a guru was too fierce for them to bear. They were already lucky enough to be able to withdraw safely.
The four people retreated.
Rahman searched for a long time but could not sense the four people’s auras. Then he turned around and left in a rage.
Behind him…
After they retreated, Fang Qiu and the other three concealed their auras and began to heal their wounds.
The three wounds on the back of his hand made by the Murica guru had healed. But this time, Rahman’s long spear left a cut on Fang Qiu’s forearm. This cut healed very quickly, but during the recovery process, Fang Qiu sensed that something in the black fog crept into him through it.
This was the second time he felt this sort of sensation.
“What the hell was it?”
Fang Qiu thoroughly examined his body but found nothing unusual.
When the cut healed, Fang Qiu spotted two wisps of faint black substances in his body, to his surprise.
One had been there for some time, while the other was slowly drifting toward the first.
“What’s this?”
Fang Qiu instantly decided to check it out.
As a result, he found that the two black strands were slowly absorbing his internal Qi. Meanwhile, they were splitting apart. Although at a languid pace, the process was ongoing.
He struck upon a bright idea.
Fang Qiu immediately activated his internal Qi in an attempt to expel the two black strands, but no matter how hard he tried, they stubbornly remained where they were.
A plan occurred to him.
Fang Qiu got up immediately, stopped before a man from Huaxia, and said, “Let me check on the condition of your injuries.”
After that…
Fang Qiu grabbed the man’s hand and transferred the internal Qi into his body.
The man knew Fang Qiu was John Doe, but when his internal Qi entered his body, it immediately caused the instinctive resistance of the internal Qi in his body.
However, his internal Qi was too weak to withstand the impact caused by Fang Qiu.
Not surprisingly…
As Fang Qiu’s internal Qi moved, it instantly dispersed the resistant internal Qi inside the man’s body.
“How vigorous his internal Qi is.”
When he sensed Fang Qiu’s internal Qi, the man was secretly startled.
Here…
After transferring his internal Qi, Fang Qiu quickly noticed the same substance in this person’s body, but it was no longer a thin thread in his body. Instead, it had condensed into a small ball.
Like the black traces inside Fang Qiu’s body, this small ball of black substance was slowly absorbing his Qi. Its size increased gradually, albeit slowly.
When he perceived this, Fang Qiu immediately mobilized his internal Qi and tried to detoxify it for him.
But it didn’t work at all!
No matter how hard Fang Qiu tried to flush it away, this tiny lump of the black matter was unaffected at all!
This bizarre situation…
Fang Qiu couldn’t help frowning.
“What the hell was this?
“Why was it so difficult to get rid of?
“And currently, it is still so small. If it grew without hindrance, it would be hard to imagine what it will look like when it becomes bigger.
“Perhaps…Can it absorb nutrients from the human body like a parasite?”
Fang Qiu thought long and hard.
He breathed in heavily, a solemn expression on his face.
This black substance should not be something good.
“After getting out of the black fog, I must study it carefully. I can’t just ignore it!”
As he said that…
Fang Qiu stood up.
“What’s wrong?”
“Did you find something?”
The two people before him asked.
“Nothing serious.”
Fang Qiu shook his head.
It was not the right time to talk about this now. If he did, it would only make everyone panic.
“Let’s go. We should think of a way to get out of this black fog first.”
Fang Qiu called out and led the three people forward.
Along the way…
From time to time, giant stone statues appeared to attack the four of them. By working together, the group repulsed their continuous attacks. In these battles, Fang Qiu handled most of the statues, and the others barely made any mentionable contributions.
After defeating three groups of stone statues in a row, Andrew, the commander of Bloody Lion Mercenaries, viewed Fang Qiu in a new and more favorable light.
He was a ninth-class strength cultivator. On the surface, Fang Qiu had the same strength as him.
He could barely ward off blows from the three stone statues, but Fang Qiu managed to defeat three groups of stone statues on his own!
That was simply impressive!

Discord Community: https://discord.gg/3tHKHAx7Ye The Vitaean Chronicles are a debut LitRPG High Fantasy series written with the intent of filling a niche I've yet to see filled anywhere else. This is my first novel of this kind, so please be patient with me. Throughout this story, I will endeavour to create an evolving and expansive narrative anchored around believable characters, compelling plotlines, and a consistent and sensible magic system. The purpose of this work is to create what I believe to be a relatively unique piece of fiction, drawing inspiration from many great stories that have come before from the likes of Tolkien, Jordan, Hertbert, Goodkind, Pratchett, Martin, and several others. My goal is not to create a masterpiece, but simply to create a story that someone can read and re-read with the same joy, same frustration, and same investment each time. This story will contain violence, politics, Shakespearian drama, tongue-in-cheek references, adult content, and well-crafted relationships of both platonic and romantic natures. I will not promise you will like every choice I make. I can only guarantee that I will do my best to create a story I, and you, can be proud of. As I progress, I will have room to incorporate fan-made characters for those interested in making their mark within the tapestry of this tale (with the customary disclaimer that they do so while waiving any rights to future profit, lol). Thank you to Royal Road for giving me the platform to do that, and thank you dear readers past, present, and future for choosing to come on this journey with me. Finally, just to cover myself: This work is Copyrighted to the Author herein known as 'Hannibal Forge', and recreation, distribution, or re-release of any material herein in a commercial or public capacity absent permission from the Author can and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law.
