I laugh loudly as I sit in a chair beside my brother. He's been telling me embarrassing stories of his childhood which I love to hear. "Wow, you are an embarrassing child, my dear big brother."
"Oh, wow, thanks Mads. Glad to have my sister make fun of me." He says but smiles nonetheless.
"Hey," I smile and put my hand on my heart. "That's what little sisters do." He laughs quietly and as we calm down and I notice something is bugging him. "Will you just say what you want to say to me already?"
"Aiden called me." My smile slowly diminishes.
"Did he?" I ask and look down at my hands.
"Why didn't you come to me? You know I would have gladly let you stay with me." He says with a sad look.
"I know, Jack." I stand up and walk towards him. "I know. Me and Aiden have an understanding. After Oliver, I sent Scott to stay with Aiden. I thought it would be good for him. It has been good for him. He told me I was welcome anytime so I thought why not go and see Scott and maybe stay for a bit. I just couldn't be here last night and I thought maybe Scott could cheer me up."
"It seemed to have worked." He smiles at me.
"It did. Scott was sleeping by the time I got there but by morning he was jumping on my bed with excitement. We basically just spent the morning catching up and I made us breakfast. It was nice. It was...normal." I say to him as we lean against the railing.
"As long as your happy, that's all that matters to me." He says which makes me hug him tightly.
"I'm so lucky to have you." I whisper in his ear and hear Hayley walk up so I unwrap my arms from him and smile at them both before excusing myself.
As I let the two of them talk about whatever, I start talking to Aiden for a bit before seeing my dad and his vampires walk into the compound.
"Did I miss something?" I ask looking between the wolves and the vampires.
*
"You wolves are here because you want freedom, and I promise you if you stay you will be free, but we need as much help as we can get." Hayley says looking to my dad.
"My vamps and I are willing to stand with you against the witches. In return, all I want is a promise, that there will be peace between our sides after the wedding." My dad tells them.
"You're the one who spent the last 100 years killing and cursing us." Some random wolf spoke up.
"Which means you might want to listen to what he has to say." I glare at him from my dads side.
"I see you're brokering a truce..." I look and see Finn walking up to us. "Between mongrels and parasites. Now just how long do you really think that's gonna last? A month, a week, a day?" He turns our way as he talks to us but continues to walk out of the compound. "What you don't yet seem to understand is that the only thing that can exist between your two degenerate species is hatred, war and death."

He does some sort of magic and the compound shakes as we all look quite worried or annoyed in my dads case. Gia goes to attack him but gets burned by a barrier. "Aah!"
"But I imagine given a little time confined together that you'll come to see things the way I do." Finn says and walks out.
"I'm gonna murder him when we get out of here." I say angrily as my dad, Gia and I walk into where the dining table is and Gia shuts the doors.
"Josh and Aiden are gonna check doors, windows, any other entrance. Maybe he missed something." Dad says and moves some stuff.
"Can you get them to manage this guy Jerick's attitude?" Gia asks, being all sassy.
"Gia, I want you to do two things for me." My dad states as she responds with a simple 'Yeah', "first, knock it off with the tough girl routine." She goes to talk but he cuts her off. "I'm serious. Don't underestimate those wolves. All right. You're new but they have a long list of reasons to hate us."
"Sorry. You're right. What's the second?" Gia asks with a softer look.
"I want you to help watch our guys, all right, make sure nobody starts looking for trouble.' Gia nods her head and leaves just as Hayley enters.
"So you got any brilliant ideas on how to keep this under control?" Hayley asks shutting the door.
"What people in New Orleans have always done when trapped in close quarters with mortal enemies..." I look at him with raised eyebrows as he pulls out some alcohol. "Drink and hopefully blow off a little steam." He uses his vamp speed to throw it towards Hayley and I watch as she catches it and takes a sip.
*
I watch as Kol and Davina chant from both sides trying to lower the barrier but they gasp and step back.
"What just happened?" Davina asks.
"I assume that means we're all free to go." Klaus says walking up to Kol.
"No. The spells locking us out." Kol says looking all over the barrier.
"Vincent must be channeling something, uh, a dark object maybe." I say from my place on the wall beside Kol.
*
I gasp loudly and hunch over as I'm stood in a room with my dad, Gia, and josh. "Dad."
"Maddie!" He goes to walk towards me but stops and I'm guessing it's happening to him.
Just then the doors open and Klaus walks in. "Your vampires seem to think it's lunchtime. What is it?" He asks looking at us.
"They're not the only ones who are hungry. It's all of us." My dad says.
"Yeah, like supersized hungry, and there's an all you can eat werewolf buffet right through those doors." Josh says looking towards them.
"It's magic." I whimper at the pain in my stomach. My dad and Klaus both look at me.

Finn says through the phone.
"I merely seek to negotiate. You want our mother, I want out of this blood compound. The economics of what comes next should be easy to grasp, even for you."
I laugh to myself as Klaus rolls his eyes amusingly and bored.
Klaus makes a static sound into his phone as he finishes. "I'm sorry. We must have a bad connection. Could you repeat everything you said after 'What I want'?"
Klaus looks over to me as I furrow my eyebrows.
My eyes water as I stand up and leave the room, not wanting to hear anymore. I'm useless. Finn has even proved it. I can't do anything.
"Things are getting testy out there. Come on, we better move this along." I hear my dad say.
"Vincent's boundary is too strong, but what Davina and I can do is cast a disruption spell. It would temporarily neutralize all magical objects in this compound including the compound itself. If it works, well, then it would give us 60 seconds. To escape whilst the boundary is shut down." Kol explains to them.
"All right, all right. That sounds good to me." My dad agrees.
"If the spell works, it will suppress all magical objects in the vicinity. That means your rings." Klaus breaks the news to my dad.
"And If we go out in the sun without our rings, we're dead." My dad sighs.
"Unless you wait until nightfall." Klaus suggests.
"Their all so new. They're not gonna be able to fight hunger. I don't think Maddie will either. We can't wait until nightfall." I sigh. It's true. When I first turned, I didn't drink much blood and I had control but this is different. This is magic, magic I can't stop, I can't control very well. It's not the hunger so much that bothers me, it's the absolute pain that comes with it, and yet, I seem to be the only one in this much pain.
*
"What the hell are you looking at?" A wolf says to one of the vamps as I watch. They both start pushing each other so people intervene. The wolf breaks a chair and takes one of the wooden legs and tries to stake the vampire but misses. Aiden stands up and yells at the guy as he turns and cuts Aidens arm.
I back away as the blood fills my nose but some vamps attack Aiden so I speed forward and rip them off of him. I slowly turn towards Aiden and my veins appear. My eyes stay focused on his cut but before I can make any movement Klaus appears in front of me.
"Maddison...you get away from him right now." I look away from the both of them as my dad yells to Davina.
"Davina, start the spell!" I can slightly hear the two of them changing before the wind blows and they stop.
Davina lifts her hand and Kols eyes widen, "Davina!" He yells but Davinas hand connects with his and she entwines it.
"Ok. Jack, now!" Hayley yells to him.
"Come on, lets go." Jack ushers them all out.
"Remember 60 seconds." Kol yells as Jack looks at me.
"It's okay, big brother. I'll be fine. You need to go, now." I nod my head at him as he hesitates before he sadly looks at me and walks out.
I watch as Klaus appears behind Kol grabbing his shoulder and pulling him back in the compound. "Slight change of plans, brother. I no longer have to treat you like anything but the treacherous liar you truly are."
"What the bloody hell?" He whisper as his cut is open and I sigh in sadness. It hurts to even think about blood, let alone to look at it.
"Where is she?" Klaus asks him.
"Please! They'll kill him!" Davina cries looking to Klaus.
"Well, he should of thought about that before he betrayed our sister. Rebekah never made it to her new body, did she, and seeing as how you cast the spell and, well, you're you, i'd hardly call it an uncrackable case." Klaus says.
"Rebekah's fine, Nik." Kol raises his voice as he stands and walks towards Klaus angrily. "It was a prank, nothing more than anything you lot have done to me, but I guess it's different when it's one of y...ahh!"
"Ooh. Barriers back up. Those vampires look oh so hungry." Klaus taunts as the vampires slowly come out of the shadows. "I was willing to welcome you back into my home, but you had to return to your selfish, petty, jealousies. Well, let's see how well they help you survive when you're stuck in there!" He yells and walks out.
I watch as Kol walks backwards only for my dad to bump into him and look at him like a good meal. "Marcel, please." I hear Davina and sigh before grabbing Kol and speeding him upstairs where there's no vampires.
*
I sit in my room and grab my stomach trying to think about anything other than blood when my phone rings. I wince and answer it. "Hello?"
"Maddie, it's me." I smile slightly hearing Klaus' voice. "I was just calling to let you know that, I'm gonna get you out of there. No matter how painful it feels now, you won't feel it soon and I'll do anything to make sure you never feel it again because I..."
"You what?" I whisper slightly as my eyes drift close with a slight smile, hoping that I'll hear those three little words I uttered to him already.
"I love you."

But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally.
