District 4 - Western Side
Verdugo Occupied Area
The Verdugo forces successfully occupied the last checkpoint that was connected to the passage route of the eastern side. Unable to suppress the continuous assault and advance of the Verdugo forces, the village guards were no choice but to abandon their post and withdraw for at least two hundred meters away from their original position. But few people with sense of bravery and duty decided to stand along themselves and held them off for a short period but since they were outnumbered, they were easily defeated and killed in action.
As the enemies moved closer to the next District, the last batch of surviving troops that exiled from District 4 was successfully entered the last gate. Rafel Uno, the commander in charge in District 4, was devastated from what he witnessed. He closed his fist and stumbled the ground with his feet. They failed to stop the invading forces from occupying the 4th district and unfortunately, he failed himself to be a good commander. What could he do in this situation? It was not his fault in the first place. There was no reinforcement came in when he needed and no supplies to support their rear. He fought them by using his magic but his mana capacity and stamina weakened as they were continuously came in with more men. If he just had a power, he wished to use all his might to end them in one spell. The worse thing he could hear, the District 1 was under siege and its eastern part was now occupied by another division of the enemies. There was nothing he could do since he was too far to reach them in and was too busy to hold the enemies occupied their western part. Only he could pray for little bitch, Ylla, was hold them off and had a good essence of taking decision.
He clicked his tongue while thinking about it. His people were dying in despair, begging for bandages and drinks to suppress their hunger and pain. There were people carried by stretchers and pushed their bodies inside the medical tent. Excluding the four representatives of the village, there were no mages that had a keen skills for healing. They were using the traditional medical treatment by using medical herbs.

“Enemies! The Enemies approaching the gate!” one of the guards in the tower gate called their attention. All of the people become freight and panic, the officers and other civilians who were injured and escaped ran away from the area. Chaos had emerged in their place.
“Don’t be scared. Every man who has still a courage to fight the enemies must make their own in their positions. Officers who are still alive and can kill some morons take charge to the newbies. Lead them by yourselves! As long as we still have our lives, we can still win this fight!” Rafel’s orders gave hope to their eyes and it boost their morale back to its original rate.
“Don’t waste your bullets. Aim at the specific man you can target at good trajectory. Fire at will.”
“Sir, yes, sir!”
Far away from their position, there was a man in the rooftop of an abandon building watching their struggles via bioscope. It was none other than Patioche Woale, sitting down from a wooden chair, legs crossed, and props up his right hand under his chin. As the wind blew, his red hair followed through. He felt boring at the current situation of their enemies. He wished them to fight back but unable to stop their mighty army. He was so disappointed at the commanding officer of the village. He turned his attention in his right side where his men were currently raising their family flag. The district 4 was now under their hands but he feels unsatisfied from the result.
There was no challenge at all. If he moved and lead his men, they could easily secured an easy victory. He sighed. There was no need for him to use his powers for this filthy and pitiful people.
Recently, he sent a letter to his comrade that was taking down the enemies from First District. He wished for him to slightly slow down the pace of their advance and waited for an another day since the enemies won’t last long. The fun would be gone if they decided to finish them right away. There was a big chance that the villagers will begin to evacuate from the District 2 port so they just need to give them some chances. Few people to manage in the place, the better. They could easily replace them by their own citizens. Give or take, it’s a rule of this world. If you leave then die in other land, if you stay and submit under the invader’s authority then you’ll be lucky to be inscripted as their citizen. But if you choose to fight till the end, you would become just a dead meat or if you’re lucky, a slave.

He smirked and giggled as he thought about it; a big crescent smile and dark image of his face.
“Well then, let’s see how they can hold off our next move. What would be the next strategy of their useless and pathetic commander.” he murmured.
“Gwaah!”
“Medic! Send some medic!”
“Over here!”
“Haaah! My eyes. My eyes!”
“Mommy, my legs hurt! I want to go home. My legs! My legs is gone!”
“Somebody call for medic!”
Those words were the screams of the people defending the district. They were beginning to despair and lose faith.
“Send the injured men to the medical center! Reinforced the gates and don’t let any single one of them to get closer to our position!” Rafel said, shooting the enemies that were closing to their position while giving orders.
“Shit! I can’t let this go. I’m sorry leader. I can’t stay in here!”
“Me too!”
“Stupids, come back in here!” his yelled didn’t cross to their ears. The two runaway guards that leave their position was hit by a fire spell from the mage company from the enemies.
“Damn it, mages!” Rafel saw their units. A new team from the enemies came in. They were flying and used their ability to cross the gate from sky. They used their fire spell to cause an amok and bombed their position.
“Don’t flatter! Shoot them down!” Rafel turned his aim to the enemy company but unfortunately, it didn’t penetrate their magic shield. “Damn it, how can this happened? How can they still have some rounds to take us out! If they have this massive powerful forces, they can just easily score a big easy victory! Are you telling me that from the very start, we’re just a pawn in the game, can easily crush into pieces and it appears your commander is just making fun on us? How could you!”
The suppression team of the enemy forces maneuvered their position and his men were unable to stop their continuous bombing. The medical center was devastated and wiped out from their spell. Rafel needed to make a quick decision. There was nothing he could do but to use all his remaining mana.
“[[Rapid shot!]]” In one spell, he killed at least 4 men from the sky, making the enemies flustered and turned away from the area.
“The enemies has a mage from the reports. It must be that man. We need to go back. We cannot let ourselves to be shot down by this man. Our leader said that if we lost some men we need to go back immediately.”
“Sir, yes, sir.”
Seeing the enemy mages withdraw, Rafel dropped down from his knees. He let out a big sigh of relief and fell down in the ground.
“The commander is down! Medic!”

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
