Backstory: Koikit was an adventurous little puffball with no sense of danger, and on one of her brave little adventures, she and her friend/crush, Fluffkit, travelled too close to the river. Fluffkit fell in from the slick stone around the water and ultimately drowned. Deeply saddened, she found comfort in the elders, as they could comfort her and tell her interesting stories of the five clans, their ancestors, and Cavestar. Her brother, Eaglekit, protected her as best as he could, acting like a little leader, while Curlkit preferred to sleep all day. As an apprentice, Koipaw grew up a bit, learning to control her eagerness to explore, and creating an inseparable bond between her and her mentor, Sootfeather. In her apprenticeship, she finally kindled a sibling relationship with Curlpaw, as they saw past the other's flaws and loved the cat deep down. She also met Dawnpaw, the medicine cat apprentice, and they clicked into a quick friendship that lasted a lifetime.
Once she became a warrior and gained her markings, Koisplash never got to live a normal warrior's life at first. Soon after her warrior ceremony, an earthquake shook the caves, which ended up making the cliffs collapse, and killing a handful of cats. She was sent to find the five clans and eventually did after a very long journey. Taken prisoner by SkyClan at first, she desperately tried to explain her predicament, but nobody would listen until the next gathering when she managed to stop Kitescratch from leaving and explain the issue. Soon, after they talked to Leafstar, she had Kitescratch accompany Koisplash back to her Clan. They arrived after another long trip and discovered that while she was gone, Eagletail had trained an apprentice and had become the new deputy, after the old one had retired. They brought the clan to settle in the mountains closer to the five clans, where StarClan had carved out a new home for them on a cliff. Near the end of the journey, Shiningstar passed away from the cold, making Eaglestar a leader. Kitescratch went back to SkyClan, and reached an understanding with Leafstar, asking to live in CaveClan after finding himself crushing on Koisplash. She agreed, and not long after Koisplash and Kitescratch were mates.

The Clan was attacked a little while later by Stormcaller and his group of wild cats, intending to wipe out CaveClan to finish what he started so many generations ago, back when Cavestar was alive. Stormcaller had revived his body, so he was no longer a spirit, allowing him to do as he wished more effectively. He went into a battle and ended up killing Eaglestar by ripping his insides out, destroying all nine lives in the process. Koisplash, utterly shocked and in rage, leaped onto Stormcaller and snapped his neck. The wild cats retreated with their leader dead, and Eaglestar's deputy, Strikepelt, became Strikestar. The Clan settled down, and Koisplash learned to cope with her dear brother's death. She continued to serve her clan to the best of her ability.
Other: When Koisplash was a kit, she caught her first "prey", which was a beetle. Everybody refused to eat it. Also, the apprentice she saved was named Fluffpaw, after her deceased from kittenhood.

Part 1 - Killing Roar: When Perry was blessed with a platypus beast soul, he thought his chances of joining the village guard were over. No one had every heard of a platypus. It seemed like an obvious prey soul, given it wasn't in the village's records. Only the strongest could be part of the village guard. He thought that would never get the chance to defend the village from the spike feeders, the deadly creatures jutting out with hazardous spikes haphazardly all over. Only predator beast souls were given the requisite training and allowed to join the village guard. Perry just didn't meet their criteria. He was also wrong.Soon Perry will live out his wildest dreams and more, as he scales the rankings of beast soul mastery, fights innumerable dangerous spike feeders and solves mysteries related to the origin of beast souls and spike feeders. And maybe, just maybe, he'll even get to join the city guard. Genre-wise, Mortal Mewling is a GameLit story (light on the GameLit) focused on action and adventure. The Gore tag is there more as a precaution, rather than a promise to keep producing gory words. Mortal Mewling is a bit of a slow burn in terms of start, scale and capacity of the protagonist. Book 2... has now begun! Updates Monday and Thursday
