《I Can Make You Smile (David x Reader)// CAMP CAMP》28

"What?! You can't quit!" The man yelled.
"Ms.(L/N)? Quitting?!" A girl screamed. I let out a breath,
"I quit. I'm staying at this camp, and tell my father..." I closed my eyes, thinking of all the times he ignored me, all the times he turned a cold shoulder, all the times I needed him and he never bothered to help... only helped me lose my close ones. "Tell my father he can suck a dick." I felt my cheeks heat up in anger, "Tell him to back the fuck off, to stay away from this camp and that he no longer has a daughter! And I want you to ask him something-!"
"Y-Yes?"
"Ask him if he's proud," I replied before angrily hanging up. I slammed my phone onto my desk, my breath starting to pick up rapidly.
I let my anger get the best of me
to the point that I panicked
What is my father going to do when he receives the message?!
I took a deep breath, feeling tears prick my eyes.
Did I really just say all that?
How is he going to react when he learns that I hate this job?
that I've always put up a smile about my career?
tears began to pour,
A never-ending trail seeping down my cheeks, I sobbed into my hand, feeling my knees go weak. I was ready to fall to the ground, my head becoming dizzy before two arms wrapped themselves around me. I instantly reacted by falling into those arms, recognizing the smell as David's. He didn't say anything, just let me sob against his vest and grip onto his shirt.
"I-I didn't mean to wake you," I said, looking up to look at David, only to get bits of his face from the lack of light in the cabin.
"I wasn't asleep." He replied, cupping my cheek to gently wipe a tear away.

"So you just pretended?!" I yelled, shoving his arm away. David's didn't move, keeping his eyes on me. I looked down the ground, realizing that I'm taking my anger out on David. I wrapped my arms around his torso, my way of saying sorry in hope that I don't take more anger out on him. "You just pretended," I mumbled.
"I suspected you were just going to the use the restroom until you sat for close to 5 minutes still. I was close to asking you what was wrong, until your phone rung." He explained. I let a few more tears fall,
"How will my father react?" I asked. "To what I said..." I whispered. David gently rubbed my back, pressing his cheek on the top of my head,
"I think he will be upset." He answered. David's response caused more tears to fall, "But... No father could ever hate their daughter, and no father could ever go a day without feeling proud of their child." David finished. I rubbed my cheek into his shirt,
"I love you." I simply responded. David kissed the top of my head,
"I love you too... And so does your father."
I stayed silent, keeping my face nudged against his chest. "How about you come back to bed?" He suggested, "You need the rest."
I nodded, walking back over to the bed. I laid down, David soon joining beside me.
"Whats the relationship between you and your parents?" I asked. David chuckled lightly, starting to rub his thumb against my back.
"I don't actually know. It's weird." He answered.
"Weird?"
"Yea." He simply answered, seeming to want to end the conversation.
"So... What are we doing tomorrow?" I asked.
"I believe it's knitting camp tomorrow." He answered. I nodded, not seeing a way to continue the conversation as I closed my eyes.

I groaned as I rolled over, not feeling a body next to me. I continued to roll,
"Davi-? Ack-!" I fell to the floor, hitting my head hard against the wood. I covered my face with my hands. "Fucking idiot," I mumbled to myself before grabbing onto the bed to pulling myself up. My eyes scanned the room to find my day clothing on the floor, seems to be recently neatly folded.
I quickly changed before walking out, already seeing the children doing their day to day activities. I watch as Gwen ran by with fear on her features,
"Gwen?! What's wrong?!"
Gwen stopped and gave a sigh of relief to see me,
"Sleepy peak-peak is now wide awake peak!" She explained.
"Did I miss gibberish camp?"
"The. Volcano. Is. Active."
"...oh. Well, what do we do? Evacuate?" I asked.
"We rid of the dark force-"
"Not now, quartermaster!"
The man walked away with a grumble.
"But really, do we continue the day like normal?" I questioned. Gwen glanced around the area,
"Actually. I don't know. I think it's best to continue the day like normal, although it's a weekend so its a free day for the campers. We, however, need to have a counselor meeting." Gwen explained.
"A meeting?" I asked. Gwen frowned,
"As much as I don't want to sit in the same room as David for more than 5 minutes, yes, we need to discuss camps later this week." Gwen grinned.
"Gwen-"
"See you at 7!" She yelled. I looked at my phone,
"It's 9!"
She walked away, ignoring my words. I sighed, "That's 10 hours from now." I muttered.
"Yo, Samuel!" Max yelled, walking over with Neil and Nikki.
"(Y/N)."
"Whatever, got any dice?" He asked. I shook my head,
"I think you should ask Nerris, I'm sure she has some," I suggested.
"That's what I said!" Nikki grinned, running toward Nerris's unstable castle. I chuckled, watching as Max and Neil followed close behind.
I guess I should waste some time.
My feet led me to the mess hall, or maybe my stomach did. I fed myself a plate of quartermaster specialty, which I had to admit was pretty decent, just needs some added spices maybe.
A hand then laid itself on my shoulder, before a torso leaned over,
"Good morning!" David grinned as I turned slightly to face him,
"Morning!" I smiled. David leaned down and gently pressed his lips against my temple,
"We have a meeting today at 7, regarding wide awake peak."
"Who scheduled the meeting?"
"Why, I did of course!" David grinned. I chuckled turning back to my food and eating my last bite,
"Are you saying you like meetings?" I asked.
"Well, I don't dislike them!" He grinned. I rolled my eyes with an amused smile at his answer.
"What happened to knitting camp?"
"Ah, I was wrong." He nervously chuckled, "thought it was Monday."
"Wow, you? Wrong?" I teased. He laughed,
"Yes, believe it or not." His eyes then trailed to my empty plate, "want seconds?" He asked. I shook my head, about to get up with the plate but instead, David gently took it from my hands and carried it to the kitchen. He then returned, standing by my side,
"Are you not going to eat something?" I asked. David smiled,
"I've already eaten breakfast." He answered. His eyes then moved down to my hand before he grabbed it and intertwined our fingers.
"Well, I'm trying to find something to pass the time. Wanna join me?" I asked. David gently kissed the back of my hand,
"Gladly." He answered, his eyes having a hidden meaning behind them.
I like what he may be thinking.

Nobody's Way
Foreign Thorn: Book 1 For eight centuries, the people of Isla have wanted for nothing. The Creator, Maere, uses Her power not only to keep them healthy and fed, but also to map the direction of each person's future Path - their vocation, role in society, and even the partner they'll spend their life with. In a world where infighting once threatened the very survival of humankind, the old texts say that Maere personally stepped in to help guide Her creations to harmony. All is not well among the people of the northern lands, however, as Jian discovers when she receives her own long-awaited Path. The Creator has chosen to favour some towns, but not others, leading to anarchy and unrest in the east, and fierce distrust between the neighbours who enjoy Her protection and those who don't. After many nights of disturbing premonitions, visions of a face uncannily familiar to her, and a voice beckoning her to "Homeland," Jian decides she needs to find answers for herself. She hires Madrigal, a surly young traveller hailing from an "unblessed" village, to take her to the southern lands. The swordsman is on the run from something, or someone, but Jian has no choice but to trust him. When the two leave the safety of the familiar and meet Quinn, a mysterious boy who seems to know more about Jian than she does about herself, it becomes clear that there are forces besides the old magics, forces completely unknown to the people of Isla, in play. Madrigal and Jian aren't sure if Quinn can be trusted, but they're certain he knows more than he's letting on...
