"hey bri." i feel a hand on my shoulder. "hey." i turn to see who was talking to me. i pause looking at my best friend, riley, and we read each others minds. "did parker grey just say hey to me?" my mouth drops a bit as i watch him say hi to people. "he got hotter. how is that even possible?" rileys stares with me.

"i haven't talked to him since sophomore year." my eyes were stuck on him. parker grey was the only guy i've had a crush on here. it's been a four year long crush and the most i've said to him was a lame hey.

"who are we staring at?" my other best friend, natalie, walks up to us. "parker grey." riley gestures towards him across the hall. natalie follows where her hand is pointing and she pouts. "even parker got hotter! no fair, why didn't i have the same summer as everyone else?"

i laugh. the bell rings and the whole hall groans. "can you believe we have three classes together? it's like the universe can't keep us apart." riley opens her locker.

"you literally forced the principal to give us the same classes and have our lockers right next to each other. it was you, not the universe." i shake my head. "yeah how did you manage to do that?" natalie asks. "all i did was ask." riley closes her locker and smiles.

nat and i roll our eyes as we look at each other. "i'm going to class, see ya later " i readjust my backpack and start walking away. "see you in third." i hear riley behind me.

i walk into my first period and try to find a seat in the back row. all the way to the right, the seat closest to the wall. i put my glasses on and look around to see if i knew anybody. i make eye contact with parker as he walks in and i quickly look the other way. shit!

i still can't get over how much he's changed. i grab a notebook from my backpack and grab a pen. "another class with bri, this must be a sign." he walks over and sits right next to me.

oh my god.

"must be," i laugh nervously. "i didn't even think you noticed me." i say watching him get comfortable. parker and i have had one class together all throughout high school. i've always noticed him but always thought i was invisible to him. "of course i've noticed you, how could i not?" he smiles.

i forgot that i have my glasses on, i took them off so fast. i cannot look like a nerd right now! "how was your summer?" i ask trying to start a conversation. "pretty good actually, i was at the gym kinda the whole time." he says and my eyes trail to his body. he definitely had a glow up. "i can tell. you look good." i smile. woah... you're bold today.

"thanks, you look really good too. what did you do?" he leans forward. really good, not just good but really good. "thanks... my summer was interesting. riley, natalie, and i went camping in yosemite, we went on a lot of beach trips and a did a lot of girly shit." i keep it short. "girly shit, that does sound like fun." he smiles and i just nod. i noticed that a lot of people had their eyes on him.

"this is the most we've ever talked and i've known you since freshman year." i say without thinking. his eyebrows raise. "i guess we'll have to change that then." he smirks.

oh my god!

"i guess so."

the teacher starts to introduce himself to the class but parker had my full attention. he looks down then we make eye contact once more. did he just?

he faces the front and i try to contain myself.

"parker sat next to me in my first period." i tell my friends as third period ends. "so many girls are going to hate you now." natalie laughs. "i want him to be my boyfriend." riley says catching us off guard.

i stop dead in my tracks. "what was that?" i ask to make sure i heard right. "i'm sure he's still single. i could change that." riley says confidently. no, no, no! you can get any guy in this school why parker? "riley it's the first day of school! also why parker?" i try my hardest to hide my disappointment. "why not parker? he's cool, he's hot..." riley walks ahead of us. "see you guys at lunch." she continues to walk leaving me completely shocked.

"she's actually insane... wait why do you look like that?" natalie asks making me push her to the side. "i like parker." i finally confess after years. "so does every other girl in this school." she rolls her eyes. "so you do too?" i hope she doesn't. "no, parker's hot and all but... not my type." she says and i sigh of relief.

"then what's your type?" i squint at my friend and cross my arms. "i-" natalie starts. "hey sis, i have soccer practice after school so don't wait up for me." my brother comes up to me out of nowhere. "wasn't planning on it." i fake smile and he copies. "hey nat." he waves at natalie. "hey noah." i notice a certain tone in her voice. "see you guys later." noah actually smiles at my best friend. i notice for a little too long too.

"ew why did he-" i watch her stare at him as he walked away. are you kidding me? "no way!" i fake gag. "what?" she snaps out of it and looks at me. "you still have that crush on my brother! that's actually so disgusting!" i laugh at her totally amused. "no i don't!" she makes a face obviously showing that she's lying. "anyways don't change the subject! you like parker!"

"i didn't change the subject and yeah i've liked parker for almost four years now." i say and regret it immediately. i cover my mouth with my hands.

natalie can't keep a secret to save her life.

"you've liked parker for four years and you're barely telling me this now? four years later!" she freaks out. "we both know you can't keep a secret, what was i supposed to do?"

she opens her mouth to say something but stops midway and just nods. "that's why you can't tell riley!" i hold out my pinky. "pinky promise." i say. "nope i cannot promise you that." she shakes her head repetitively. "you have to." i move my pinky closer to hers. "fine." we pinky promise then stand there.

"what are you going to do?" natalie asks. "about what?" i say confused. "riley wants to date him and when two best friends like the same guy it usually doesn't end well." she says and i agree. "if we're being honest, he'd pick her over me. come on now, it's rylie."

i start walking hoping i didn't sound bitter. "stop it, you don't know that." natalie comments. "yeah yeah, i'm just sick of how guy obsessed she is now." i complain. ever since junior year riley's literally been a guy magnet. i don't know if natalie felt the same but also i feel like our friendship has changed.

she could get any guy she wanted, i just hope she doesn't get parker.
