Year 2849 | Month 10 | Day 22
Fortunately for me and my patience, the men all become rather loose-lipped after I unconsciously let out a growl while holding back my bloodlust. So it only takes around five minutes before I get everything I need out of them before letting them go.
But right as I’m about to let out a sigh and consider everything they’d said, I feel pain blossoming from my back at the sound of a rifle firing. And then my self-control snaps. I immediately find myself rushing straight to the one that had shot me who’s already at the tree line before tearing out his throat with my teeth and feeding off of the blood that comes out, feeling a faint satisfaction upon doing so. But after noticing that his pulse has gone dead, I come back to myself and realize what I’d just done.
I try to cough out the blood a few times, but nothing seems to work, and I end up falling to my knees on the ground with my hands clenching into fists so hard that my nails end up digging bloody holes into my palms that immediately heal.
“Damnit…” I mutter after a few minutes, just to look up at the realization that the others had all run away. Damnit.
Several more seconds pass before I notice that the hunger in me is gone. But for how long, I can’t guess.
I stay on the ground for a few seconds as I both come to terms with what had just happened, and I consider everything that the men had told me before they made their escape.
First, the Kingdom of the Fallen is separated into various independent cities, each ruled by a magician. And the closest city with a magician nearby is the city called Darkin, which is ruled by a Class C dark magician.

I should avoid that city, even if I don’t think the magician running it will be too much of a problem. Magicians at this point aren’t much of a threat to me unless they’re Class B or higher. Or, to be more specific, I don’t think a magician would be able to capture me unless they’re a Class B or higher. Or just working in a group of Class Cs.
Second, the skeleton’s dead tree was inside of a place called the Dark Forest, which all the people here seem to know is that it’s a place filled with miasma that no one has ever escaped alive. As for how they jumped to the conclusion that the miasma changed me into what I am now? It’s apparently because no one crosses the river, as it’s considered some sort of border into the dark forest’s domain that blocks the few undead who make it out from going to the inhabited cities. So they just assumed that I came from the dark forest, whether I was turned into this there or not.
Not really sure how their thinking works there, but it doesn’t really matter.
I finally climb to my feet and look around, just to begin sprinting off in the direction opposite to the one that the hunters ran in so as to avoid coming into conflict with them again. While trying very hard to ignore the sight and smell of the corpse.
The third thing that I learned is that the survivors of the kingdom – whether magicians or not – hate the people of the Republic. With a passion.
Which in hindsight should be obvious, considering that the Republic was one of the largest players in the kingdom’s destruction.
After running for several minutes through the woods, I notice more miasma surfacing on the ground, which brings up the last thing the people mentioned. The part about how miasma is spread throughout the entire kingdom at varying levels, with the cities placed specifically in the areas with minimal miasma.

I ignore the miasma though to keep running.
Miasma is a contradicting substance in and of itself. It relies on living things to grow in substance, while also killing off the living things in the process. It does nothing but kill, but it needs life to maintain itself.
But at the same time, it can’t do anything to nonliving things. So the only thing it can do to me as I run is basically nip at my skin, giving me a light burning sensation on my legs as I run through the thin miasma covering the ground, without damaging my armor at all.
And speaking of my armor, I stop for a moment to cover it all with dirt and mud to hide its origins from the people here. Or at least to make it look like some long lost artifact that I managed to find so that they don’t suspect me of being someone actually from the Republic.
I pause at that thought.
Am I still technically from the Republic? I’m probably listed as deceased in the official records in the Republic, so I’m not actually sure about that anymore…
I look down at the Republic’s crest on my armor for a few seconds before eventually grabbing it and ripping it off the armor entirely.
That nation is bull shit. This entire world is screwed to hell and back.
I frown, ignoring the constant burning sensation from my legs.
Maybe I could change that? Just get rid of the higher ups of the Republic and the other stupid nations.
Or I could also just ignore it all, save my friends and family, and find a nice island to live on for eternity. Which doesn’t sound bad either. But someone’ll eventually find me.
My frown deepens as my thoughts run in circles, always back to ‘cleaning up the nations higher ups’ for one reason or another, whether selfless or selfish.
Eventually I shake my head to clear the thoughts away and begin continuing through the miasma-filled forest.
Nothing I can do right now as a pseudo Class D magician anyways, so there’s no reason to think about it now.
Although one thing I know I want to do is to find some way to get rid of this bloodlust. The enhanced physical capabilities and senses are nice, but I really don’t want to have to worry nonstop about draining people dry of blood. Or worse. Eating them.
A shiver runs down my spine at the thought.
I let out a sigh now that I at least have a semblance of a plan for the future. Now if I can just find a village not ruled by a magician. Or maybe one ruled by a Class D one that I might be able to kick out and take over.
Because it would be rather nice to have a city to call home while I’m here.

Binary of Life and Death
Monsters, gold, chaos, glory, adventure, what more could attract two of the greatest players of all time to Sugarea, the most popular MMORPG of its time. But everyone makes errors, and unfortunate for these two brilliant players, they have made the grave mistake of not actually sleeping like normal humans and missed out on the very moment the new Dark Legion update would take effect. Or did they? They wake in what seems familiar yet not, but they soon realize their predicament. They are inside their game avatar's bodies! A half-Demon and a Dragonoid are now struggling with more than just power, these two men have to find their new purpose and calling in a completely different world. Will they concur it like ordinary land or will they enlighten the planet into equality? Do figures pull strings in the dark or is everything open to the public eye? Nothing is certain except the unknown, and nothing is ever as it seems... This is an Isekai story, as such, some parts may sound either cliché or similar to others, but I assure you, I tried to prevent that. To make it known, I took quite a lot of inspiration from the light novel/anime Overlord, but that doesn't mean it's a direct rip-off of it. You'll find there to be quite the amount of differences. Just a little heads up as well, you should expect irregular uploads, as it takes me a long time to write each chapter. I am currently trying for once every other week on Sundays around 10:00 A.M. Chapters are usually 7k words and up, with the longest (chapter 3) being 10.3k words. So, if you like to sit down and read a long chapter every two weeks at 10:00 A.M. EST on Sundays, then you can waste your time here! Small disclaimer: Profanity is far and few between, and mostly used by side characters, rarely the main character. When something with gore happens, I describe to the best of my ability, which will only get better the longer I write this... :) Small cuts between perspectives happen, and can hide what some characters do, which will be revealed in future chapters, I'm not that lazy... all the time... There are some parts that are long blocks of text, most, if not all, of them, are characters talking, but I try not to info dump. I know one of the tags says "Psychological", and for the most part, it is, but it's not as prominent as other stories, instead, it's more hidden and scattered, but I did try to make the pieces I did reveal all fit together. Cover art is bound to be changed when I have a good picture to use, so the Yin-Yang is a placeholder for now unless yall wanna gimme something to use *wink wink nudge nudge*. So yeah, please give it a try, as I have nothing better to do with my life, and I am banking solely off of a career in literature and am hoping that I can create a story that can actually be called something more than a child's imagination running wild. The eventual and inevitable end to the story won't be for a long while, at least till chapter 40 or so. I have thought long and hard about the message and themes at play, so I hope you, the reader (who has some amazing hair btw), can enjoy and partake on this adventure with me into my dark empty pit of an imagination.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
