《Cubits Can't Save You Now (In Progress)》Chapter 15: Rokit's Stay In
Advertisement
Cut back to the Cragster Mines, where we see Rokit still sitting next to the portal from last chapter, the Series 1 Infernites & Cragsters, Past Zorch, and Past Seismo.
"Well, are you gonna do something about this 'Nurp-Naut' guy?" Asked Flain as he walked towards Rokit.
"Well, cubits can't solve it, that's for sure. Trust me, Nurp-Naut tried to use em' on The Darkness, but it didn't work." Rokit told Flain.
Rokit looked to the inside of the portal from his side, still sitting beside it, still not moving an inch.
"Besides, I think I might be forced to stay here now, since the Mixel Moon I used to live on.. was pretty much destroyed." Said Rokit.
Ever since the incident on Mixel Moon, Rokit had felt like his life had been flipped upside-down now that his home was gone, now that Orbitopia was gone, now that Nurp-Naut was gone... However, seeing the land around him and Rokit, Flain had an idea.
"Hey, maybe you could stay here, if you want." Flain told Rokit.
Rokit blinked twice and looked at Flain as he stood in an awkward silence.
"..Say what now?" Questioned Rokit.
"You could stay here, in the Mines. Either that or you could stay in the Infernite Kingdom, or somewhere else in Mixel Land, but they're pretty rad places no matter what you choose." Said Flain.
Once again, Rokit stood in silence. He wanted to say where he wanted to go, but he just couldn't, because he was already so puzzled with how the heck everything was happening so fast.
"I.. I'm fine staying here, I guess." Said Rokit.
"Pssh, about time!" Joked Past Zorch.
"You're tellin' me!" Laughed Zorch.
Zorch and his past self laughed out loud while Flain and Rokit stared at them in annoyance.
"Just ignore them. My name's Flain, and I'm the leader of the Infernites." Flain told Rokit.

"..I'm Rokit." Said Rokit.
"I.. I'm from the Orbiton tribe, and.. everything just happened too fast for me."
Flain sat down with Rokit, feeling a bit worried for his new Orbiton friend.
"Look, Rokit, it's okay. We all can feel a bit lost when we're away from home." Assured Flain.
"However, I can guarantee that we can try and help you cope with your.. situation."
"Yeah, I get that, but it's not just Nurp-Naut I'm missin', Niksput's away too. I really want to get to him, knowing he would be okay, but I.. I'm afraid the Darkness could just get to him before I can." Worried Rokit.
"Who's Niksput?" Asked Flain.
"He's the leader of the Orbitons."
"Wait, you lost your leader along with your tribemate? Now that's rough."
"I know, but I feel like losin' them both just made me more.. aggressive. I ain't usually this aggressive, but The Darkness just toughened me up, I guess."
"Wait, wait!" Shouted Krader off-screen.
The camera cuts to Krader, who had an idea in mind.
"We try save Niksput, and use portal!" Exclaimed Krader.
Rokit, Flain, and the two Zorches looked towards Krader. The first part of Krader's idea had given Rokit and Flain hope, hope that can bring Rokit his lost leader again.
"Then we hit Darkness, everyone saved, and Nurp-Naut saved!" Continued Krader.
Flain still had his hopes up, but the second half of Krader's idea had immediately made Rokit go into a disappointed expression.
"You can't punch The Darkness, It'll suck ya up! I would know 'cause it happened to Nurp-Naut!" Protested Rokit.
Krader blinked twice and then frowned at Rokit's blurt.
"Then what Darkness weak spot?" Asked Krader.
"I do NOT know, cadet!" Said Rokit, crossing his arms.
*Commercial Break*
Cut back to the inside of the Kwik-E Mart, where Ed is still chanting "boxes of bandages", Niksput is looking around, Eddy is still trying to scam Apu into letting him get free stuff, and Edd is still trying to stop Eddy from scamming Apu.

"I am telling you, I cannot let you and your gang get all this for free! It'd be shoplifting and it's against the law to shoplift!" Apu told Eddy.
"WE FELL OUT OF THE SKY WITHOUT MONEY, DO YOU THINK WE AREN'T DUMB ENOUGH TO NOT NEED BANDAGES!?" Barked Eddy.
"Would you PLEASE consider his FEELINGS? Apu is TRYING to ABIDE BY THE LAW!" Shouted Edd.
"Okay, you want to play the hard way? I'll give you the hard way!" Apu told the two.
The cashier paused, and then he grabbed the phone and immediately dialed 911.
"AGH, HE'S ONTO US! TAKE EVERYTHING AND RUN!" Eddy told the cartoon survivors.
"EDDY, FOR THE LAST TIME-" But before Edd could finish, the cartoons had already scrambled to grab almost everything in the store, including Edd himself.
"WOULD YOU QUIT IGNORING THE LAW FOR JUST ONE SECOND!" Barked Edd as he was carried by Ed.
Cut to the outside of Kwik-E Mart as everyone runs out of the store, carrying almost everything they got from the store. However, now that they had ran out of the store, they realized that they were farther from home than they realized. Not to mention it was nighttime, so they knew they needed to find somewhere to sleep for the night and yet, Eddy knew he and the other cartoons couldn't sleep near the Kwik-E Mart since Apu tried calling 911 on them. Eddy told the other cartoons to follow him, and then Eddy ran towards a neighborhood, away from the Kwik-E Mart, in hopes of finding somewhere to sleep for the night.
"Come on, keep up with the leader!" Commanded Eddy.
"Since when were you the leader?" Asked Ed.
"Since right now, lumpy!" Shouted Eddy.
Suddenly, Ed, Edd, and Eddy fell into a portal on the ground, screaming. However, in the portal, they fell on top of Major Nixel's airship.
"Woah!" Said Niksput.
"What the?" Questioned the two-eyed Glowkie.
The two-eyed Glowkie and Niksput turned their backs to see the Corrupted Rambamboo, but Niksput grabbed the Glowkie, Peg, and Cat and flew off before Corrupted Rambamboo could push them into the portal as well. Cut to the top of Major Nixel's airship, where we see Ed, Edd, and Eddy slammed onto the airship.
"Ow, my lasagna." Said Ed.
"Uh, Ed? Lasagna isn't a major organ." Corrected Edd.
"It isn't?" Asked Ed.
(Fun Fact: This is a reference to an episode of Ed, Edd, n Eddy.)
Eddy got up on his feet, only to find that he and the other Ed boys were literally on a giant airship, one that Eddy could turn into a scam for some cold, hard cash.
"GUYS! I JUST GOT AN IDEA!" Exclaimed Eddy.
"Is it another scam?" Questioned Edd.
"YES, EDD! When we take over this airship, we'll have people LINING UP to take joyrides, and then we'll be swimming in some green!" Explained Eddy.
Cut to Edd, who looks very dissapointed in Eddy at the moment. Meanwhile, Ed in the background got up and looked around, and then he sat down and looked at the sky.
"Eddy, of all the scams you pulled, you chose the one where you trespass someone's airship?" Questioned Edd.
"...Well, I gotta make some cash somehow, don't I?" Said Eddy.

A Virtual Invasion
An invasion from another dimension is shut down by an Empire's traitor and the world has a scant few decades to build the strength to resist a multidimensional Empire. How will the world fair when no one even knows its doom is one barred gate away? Fortunately, the traitor has a plan. Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
