"Good morning ma'am!"
A mid aged woman greeted her boss who was walking in the office where every employee glued their eyes on the computer and work. Her stare was enough to pass shivers down to her employee's spines.
"Take the budget file, and come to my cabin, right now!"
The girl said, it was none other than Chaeryeong herself. She used to become a whole different person when it came to her work. She barely had any time to spend on herself and same with Taehyun. They only got to see each other on the weekends.
"Sure ma'am!"
The lady said while following her. Chaeryeong sat on her chair and sighed. She held her head as she heard someone entering the cabin.
"Can you please order a coffee for me?"
Chaeryeong asked her secretary. Her secretary put a file on the table and handed Chaeryeong a paper.
"You're resigning?"
Chaeryeong asked and she nodded.
"But why?"
"Actually, I'm moving to abroad with my husband."
She replied and Chaeryeong nodded. She signed on the paper and handed it to her.
"Good luck!"
Chaeryeong smiled at her, she spread her arms for her to hug.
"Will miss you!"
Chaeryeong said while hugging her. She was strict with her employees never meant that she didn't love them. They were like her own family.
"I already gave an advertisement for a secretary for you!"
She said and she left the cabin.
She looked at her telecom and dialed a number. No one picked up the call and she groaned. She saw someone enter her office again. It was Seojun, her personal assistant. Soon, a peon came with a cup of coffee for Chaeryeong, as she was about to take the coffee, Seojun picked the coffee and thanked the peon and Chaeryeong glared at him. The peon left the cabin.
"The candidates are here, can you take the interview right now?"
He asked sipping on the coffee while sitting on a chair beside her.
"Of course I can!"
She said and Seojun dialed someone's number.
"Send the candidates."
He said and a girl entered with some files.

"Sir, here is the list of the candidates."
The girl handed him the list.
"Uhm, let's see. Send Kim Minjeong inside."
He said and she nodded. She left the cabin and a short haired girl entered the cabin.
"Good morning Ma'am and sir!"
She greeted them and Seojun gestured her to sit in front of Chaeryeong.
"So miss Kim, can I see your qualifications?"
Chaeryeong asked and she nodded.
"Sure!"
She said and she started to look for something inside her bag. Her expressions changed while searching for the documents.
"Is there a problem?"
Seojun asked while reading her expressions.
"M-mam, I swear I brought my documents, I don't know where they went!"
She stuttered. She was well aware that Chaeryeong didn't like indiscipline.
"Then you can go from here miss Kim."
Chaeryeong said.
"I'm not lying!"
She said almost crying.
"I'm sorry, but if you're not able to handle your documents then how are you going to deal with mine?"
Chaeryeong asked, Minjeong wasn't even able to say anything. She looked at Seojun but he just signaled her to leave the cabin. She got up wiping her tears. Seojun wanted to help her but he couldn't do anything since it was Chaeryeong's decision and no one could change it, no one meant no one. Not even Seojun.
"Okay, send the next candidate."
Seojun said and the girl went outside.
Soonafter, a girl with documents entered the cabin. Both Chaeryeong's and Seojun's eyes were glued on that girl. Seojun literally forgot to blink. He could clearly hear his heartbeat. Meanwhile, Chaeryeong was also shocked but her emotions were exact opposite from Seojun at that moment. The girl in front of her was none other than Dahye. She never expected her to be here.
Both Chaeryeong and Seojun were so busy looking at her that they didn't even say anything.
"Good morning ma'am and sir!"
She said making both of them come out from their thoughts.
"So what made you come here ms. Dahye?"
Chaeryeong unwillingly asked her. It was obvious that she didn't want her as her secretary but she had to interview her.

"Your work, you're really impressive. I really like how you've maintained this companies prestige! And I would love to work with you!"
Dahye said, for some reason, it didn't seem like an acting or something.
"Can you show me those documents?"
Chaeryeong pointed at the file she was holding, Dahye gave it to her with a smile. Chaeryeong's expressions varied as she turned each page. It was so amazing. Honestly, she was too perfect for being her secretary. She had everything, the confidence and her qualitfications. She had to choose between two things. To hire her forgetting everything that happened or just hate her for what she did due to personal reasons.
"You're hired."
After a minute of silence, Chaeryeong said. Both Seojun and Dahye looked at her in disbelief.
"Really?!"
Seojun and Dahye said in unison.
"Why are you so happy?!"
Chaeryeong questioned while looking at Seojun who was almost cheering. He scratched his nape after she pointed out his behaviour.
"Thank you so much ma'am! I hope you'll forget everything and continue this new journey with me!"
Dahye said before going away.
"What did she mean by forget everything? Do you guys know each other?"
Seojun asked.
"I see you're really happy, don't get your hopes too high and go to your cabin!"
Chaeryeong said and he smiled nervously and went outside her cabin.
"I don't know how would Taehyun react to this."
Chaeryeong sat on her chair, she rested her head on the table.
"Hey Chaeryeong-"
"Shut up Seojun!"
"But Taehyun wants to talk to you!"
He said while holding his phone.
"Why didn't he call me instead?"
She wondered.
"He literally called you fifteen times!"
Seojun said and Chaeryeong looked at her phone and yes he did call her. She snatched Seojun's phone and placed it on her ear.
"Hello?"
"Why didn't you pick up my calls?"
"I actually didn't pay attention to it, why were you calling by these way?"
"Come to my office, I'll tell you!"
Taehyun said excitedly.
"What did he say?"
Seojun asked curiously.
"He asked me to meet him."
She replied casually.
"Great, so I'll tell Dahye!"
He said excitedly and Chaeryeong stared at her.
"Kim Seojun! She just had her interview!"
Chaeryeong said in disbelief.
"Don't worry, she's ready!"
Seojun said while moving showing Dahye who was smiling. Chaeryeong took a deep breath.
"You know what Seojun? I can go by myself."
Chaeryeong said, she didn't want Taehyun to face Dahye.
"For your kind information miss Lee, as your personal assistant, I must be with you for assistance."
Seojun said as Chaeryeong glared at him.
"Fine!"
She said as Seojun started smiling.
She started to walk away and Seojun followed her with Dahye who was smiling at him.
Chaeryeong sat in the backseat of a car while Seojun sat on the driver's seat with Dahye beside him. Soon, they reached the office. As Chaeryeong entered, the employees stood up and bowed at her. She bowed at them slightly and straight went to Taehyun's office. She saw someone sitting on the table.
"Kai?"
She asked, she wasn't surprised by his presence there because he was Taehyun's secretary and he earned that position with his talent and not anyone's preference but she was expecting someone else to be there.
"Where's Taehyun?"
She asked, and Seojun along with Dahye went to his cabin.
"I'm here."
Taehyun said while smiling at Chaeryeong but his smile faded when he saw Dahye standing next to her.
He had many questions, Kai noticed him and stood up.
"I think we should let them be alone for some time!"
Kai said, Seojun and Dahye started to walk away along with Kai.
As they went away, Taehyun came closer to her.
"What is she doing here?"
He asked.
"She's my secretary now."
Chaeryeong replied and Taehyun looked at her in disbelief.
"What?!"
Taehyun couldn't digest the fact that Chaeryeong hired Dahye. She could've choosen someone else.
"Taehyun, do you trust me?"
She asked while stepping closer to him.
"More than myself."
He said as Chaeryeong smiled but he just left the cabin afterwards and her smile faded eventually.
"I know this is going to hurt you but you have to face the truth, the bitter truth."

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.
