《Moon Princess》91

As Jimin exited the room, a charming doctor entered with a warm and inviting smile on his face. I couldn't help but think to myself, how wonderful it would be if he was my mate.
" Hey there! " The doctor greeted me with a lively enthusiasm.
" Hi, " I responded, offering a small wave of my hand.
" I'm Dr. Adam, " he introduced himself as he shook my hand.
" I'm Clara, " I responded, giving his hand a firm shake before releasing it. He then proceeded to hand me a box containing aprons, masks and goggles.
" Are you here to experiment too? " He asked with a playful grin as he donned his protective gear.
" Who else is here? " I asked, tying my long hair into a bun, as I prepared to join him.
" Meera, " he replied as he made his way towards a table situated in the secluded corner of the room. Upon hearing her name, my muscles tightened in anticipation.
" Does she come here often? " I asked in a casual tone, trying to hide my obvious interest.
" She used to, but lately, I haven't seen her around. I don't know what's happened to her, " he responded with a shrug, as I tied on my apron and pulled on my mask.
" How do you know her? " I probed, curious about their relationship. He raised his eyebrows at me, seemingly surprised by my question.
" Forgive me for asking, but I can't help but be intrigued. It's not every day that you hear about a human living among a pack of wolves, " I explained, hoping to ease any possible suspicion.
" Meera was a human who was discovered on the fringes of our pack, the renowned royal pack, which has been known for its regal status for many years. It is a common practice for some desperate parents to abandon their newborns on the boundaries of our pack in times of danger, as it is believed to offer a safe haven for their offspring. " He said as he bent down to search for something on the desk as he explained the situation to me.
Intrigued by the concept, I asked, " What if the parents come back and demand their baby back? " Leaning on the desk, I waited for his reply.
" The pack conducts thorough tests on the supposed parent and baby to determine their relationship. If the results prove that they are indeed the real parents, the baby is returned to them. However, in the case of fraudulent individuals, the alpha orders them to be killed. "

This revelation left me stunned and I couldn't help but ask, " Isn't this cruel? "
" Yes, it is, but our alpha despises cheaters and will not tolerate any form of deceit. It may seem cruel, but it is the only way to ensure the safety and protection of our pack. " He said while walking towards me with a notepad and a pen.
" So, what happened next? " I asked curiously.
" Our revered senior alpha, who leads the pack with grace and wisdom, took Meera under his protective care and raised her as his own. Meera lived at the luxurious pack mansion along with Rose and Bts and they were inseparable, always participating in each other's lives and adventures. During their schooling days, they earned a reputation as mischievous troublemakers, always causing a stir.
However, after graduation, they each pursued their own paths in life. Meera followed her passion for fashion design by venturing into the human world to further her studies. Our senior alpha, understanding Meera's aspirations, granted her permission to leave. Taehyung, on the other hand, was not as accepting of Meera's decision and became extremely angry when he learned of her plans. " As I listened to the story, I carefully analyzed it for any information that could be of use to me.
But after a talk with Luna, Taehyung eventually relented and allowed Meera to follow her dreams. During her studies, Taehyung made sure to check on her every week, ensuring that she was safe and well. Through her hard work and dedication, Meera became a renowned fashion designer, gracing every fashion channel with her stunning designs. She even designed dresses worn by royalty. However, last year, she suddenly vanished without a trace. " He concluded, and I frowned.
" Before we could make an offering to our moon goddess, she returned to our pack, taking us all by surprise. We welcomed her back with open arms, but there was something not quite right about her. That was my observation. She informed us that she had been with her father in India for an entire year, and she didn't want to miss any of the important events or ceremonies taking place within our Alpha's life. So, she decided to come back and rejoin our pack. " That was what he told me, and I nodded in agreement.
" Were Meera and Taehyung in a romantic relationship? " I asked, curious.
" I'm not sure, but there have been rumors about them being involved, " he replied with a shrug. I nodded, still pondering over the information.
" Alright, what experiment would you like to conduct? " He asked as he sat on a chair with a notebook and pen, ready to jot down notes.

" I need a cure for a poison, " I replied, and he nodded while making a note in his book.
" What's the poison? " He asked in a professional tone. I reached into my pocket, removing the needle wrapped in tissue. He extended his gloved hands and carefully unwrapped the tissue to inspect the needle.
" That sticky substance was made from Veratrum, silver, and wolfsbane, " I explained as he nodded and set the needle aside.
" These ingredients are used to knock out creatures like demons, but it's dangerous for other creatures," He said, and I nodded in agreement.
" Do you have a cure for it? " I asked, hopeful for a positive response.
" No, but we can make one. I have all the herbs we need, " He said as I tried to perk up.
" How long does the cure take to work? " I asked as he stood up and walked to the herbs, neatly arranged in order.
" It'll be ready by tomorrow. Is it urgent? " He asked as he took some glasses containing herbs.
" Yes, I want to add the cure to my collection, " I said, feigning excitement.
Dr. Adam looked at the ingredients I had listed and nodded thoughtfully. " This is a tricky mix. Veratrum is a highly toxic plant and combining it with silver and wolfsbane creates a dangerous poison. But I believe we can find a cure. "
He walked over to his shelves, which were filled with jars of dried herbs and chemicals. " I have all the herbs we need, but we'll have to be very careful in mixing them. One wrong move and this could turn out disastrous. "
Dr. Adam handed me a list of herbs and chemicals required to cure the poison. I eagerly took the list and set to work preparing my workspace in the laboratory. I donned my gloves and goggles, ready to begin the experiment.
Dr. Adam arrived with the ingredients, carefully handing them to me one by one. The list included several rare herbs such as Mandrake root, Devil's Shoestring, and Eye of Newt. I measured each ingredient precisely, adding them to a glass beaker in a specific order.
To begin the experiment, I heated the mixture over a low flame, closely monitoring the reaction. After an hour of patient observation, I noticed a transformation in the mixture. The color changed from a cloudy white to a deep, rich green. I made adjustments to the flame, ensuring that the temperature was maintained at an optimal level.
Later, I added a pinch of silver shavings to the mixture, closely observing as it reacted with the herbs and chemicals. The mixture started to bubble and hiss, and I stirred it meticulously to ensure that it was evenly mixed.
Dr. Adam approached me, offering his assistance.
" Hey Clara, do you need any help? " He asked, taking over the stirring as I nodded. We worked together, mixing the mixture until a pungent odor filled the room.
" Clara, I think it's better if we stop now. The contents of this mixture are toxic, and the odor will only get stronger. We need to wait for it to cool down before we continue, " Dr. Adam advised, quickly turning off the flame and covering the container with its lid.
We put all the herbs and chemicals back in their proper place, except for a few that we left aside. We opened the windows and turned on the fan, both of us panting as we removed our masks. I took off my gloves and undid my bun, catching the bottle that Dr. Adam threw my way.
I opened the cap before I gulped it down. The sudden knock on the door caused Adam to jump, but with a deep sigh, he trudged towards the door and found a nurse standing outside, panting heavily with sweat streaming down her face.
" Doctor, the patient in room 220 is not doing well and we desperately need your help! " She exclaimed, and Dr. Adam quickly reassured her that he would be there as soon as possible.
" Clara, while I'm away, make sure to start the process again once the odor has dissipated in this room. But don't forget to wear the mask to avoid inhaling the fumes, " he instructed me before leaving.
I patiently waited for an hour before closing the windows and taking the necessary herbs and medicines. As I approached the gas, I put on my mask and started the process.
Once I saw the vapors rising from the mixture, I cautiously added a small amount of Wolfsbane, one of the most poisonous ingredients. I was extra careful not to inhale the fumes, knowing the deadly consequences of this herb. I made sure to keep my actions hidden from the CCTV cameras as I added my own blood to the mixture.
The mixture soon transformed into a bright purple color, signaling that it was ready. I delicately poured the mixture into a glass vial and secured it with a cork.
" At last, now I can finally save you, Sophia, "
