i've been looking forward to lunch with my dad all day. "dad you have no idea how excited i am." i say as soon as i walk in the door, expecting my dad to be in the kitchen. he wasn't but he came out of the guest room. "i am too." he smiles. "just let me shower and change and i'll be right out!" i run up to my room.
i wanted to spend every second of the day with my dad now that he's back.
after getting in the shower and getting dressed i zoomed downstairs. "okay you're a little too excited. remember, i have something important to talk about and i'm not sure how you're going to react." he says with a warning tone. i'm almost eighteen, i need to grow up.
"well whatever it is i'll make sure to react civilly." i say using my mature voice. my dad smiles and sighs. "oh what did i do to deserve you?" he pulls me into a hug.
"anyways so what are we going to eat?" i grab my purse and i start to walk towards the door. "i was thinking sushi?" he says and my mouth instantly waters when i think of a vegas roll. "say no more."

one bite. it only took one bite for me to start dancing. "this...right here...is literally heaven on earth." i cover my mouth as i speak.
"you say that with everything you eat." he says and we both laugh. "it's not my fault i love food." i shrug. we eat for a while as we talk about random things. i almost forgot why we're here in the first place. "so what news did you have to tell me?" i wipe my mouth.

"no, that can wait until later. i just want to talk right now. you know, catch up." he smiles and i smile back. "okay..." i try to to think about everything he's missed. months worth of stuff. "you mother tells me that you've been having boy trouble." he starts.
wow.
"dad are we really going to start with boy talk?" i shake my head. "hey, i want to know what's up. are you dating anybody?" i almost laugh. "no dad i'm not." i pick at my sushi. "your mother says otherwise." i'm quiet. "so, you had something to tell me?" i smile. i hopefully he'll get the hint and change the subject.
my dad shakes his head and smiles. "you are so difficult." i gasp. "i'm not difficult, i just want to talk about you not me." i sit back. he copies. "remember when i said i wanted you guys to move in with me in a few weeks?" i nod. "well i want you guys to come tomorrow instead."
he has my full attention now. "tomorrow?" i lean in. "i know that's a big time difference but i'm hoping you'd say yes." i sit back in my seat and think. i still haven't told my friends that i was moving or that my parents were getting a divorce in the first place. well nat and mason knew.
"dad have you told noah?" i can picture his reaction. "not quite..." my dad trails off and his eyes shift behind me. "sorry i'm late, practice ran later than... what is she doing here?" noah appears next to me. "me? what are you doing here?" i frown. "before you attack each other, i thought it would be better to tell you guys together instead of separately."

"tell us what?" noah sits next to me, forcing me to scoot everything over. "we're moving tomorrow." my dad said making me raise my eyebrows. i thought we had a choice. "tomorrow? dad that's not enough time." noah freaks. "i know but if we hurry up and pack then it wont take that long. plus you would only need to take small things, i already have beds set up. all you need is decoration and whatever else."
i hesitated. maybe i should look on the positive side of things. i could start over, no one would know me in olympia. i could be hannah montana in olympia and miley cyrus in bellevue. hell yeah.
"tomorrow's perfect." i blurt out.

it's 6:30 now.
it's not like i'm going away forever, just for the weekend.
i see mason getting out of his car. we make eye contact and he instantly smiles and waves. i feel all warm inside now.
"hey, what's up?" he hugs me. "hey. i have something to tell you." i tell him. "i'm all ears."
"well you know how my parents are getting a divorce? my dad moved and now noah and i have to live with him. it's only weekends though." i reassure him. "when do you leave?" mason walks up. "tomorrow."
"that was quick." i know, too quick. "that's why invited you over now, so we can hang since i won't be here for the weekend."
"sounds good to me. are you okay though?" mason asks and i actually didn't know. "i don't know, i'm trying not to think about it." i shrug and he nods. "i understand. want to watch a movie?" he offers. "sure." i hold his hand and we walk inside.
