It was starting to get late,

heading into the midnight hours,

a long drive through the backroads

as you began to get tired,

little eyelids growing heavy with sleep.

Turning in the passenger seat,

a fluffy blanket covering you,

you looked at him.

"Daddy?"

You asked him quietly.

"Hm?"

He looked at you from the side for a split second,

focusing his attention onto the road again,

nothing but the sound of the engine audible and the radio left on lowly in the background.

"When we get to the motel,

can we go swimming?"

"At midnight?"

He teased you,

making you giggle softly.

"You wanna go swimming at midnight,

"Uh huh"

"Look,

and go to sleep when I tell ya to..."

He told you lowly.

"Maybe you'll have enough time to take a quick swim before we leave,

huh?"

"Otay daddy"

You sighed softly,

brushing your hair away from your face,

a low chuckle leaving his mouth

at your reaction like he was stressing you out by not letting you do whatever you wanted.

"Is my little girl sleepy?"

He grinned at you,

his finger tips brushing against

your little face as he smoothed

a hand across your forehead to soothe you.

"Sleepy dada"

You whispered,

eyelids starting to close as you fell asleep

in the passenger seat,

not opening your eyes until the morning,

finding yourself in a strange bed

in a strange room with only one thing

that was familiar to you.
