《Brother of Wind {Book 8: the Sons of Garmadon}》chapter 11

Lloyd grabbed Harumi's hand as they ran through the forest. His body hurt like the Cursed Realm. Not literally. But there was no way he would be able to fully fight any dangerous creature. So for now, he had to run. Besides, with the green colours the Ninja and Princess wore, it shouldn't be hard to hide in this leafy forest.
Lloyd cut through the botany with the sword Harumi fell down with. But he ended up getting a little more winded than he thought he would be. They dropped down for a little rest, Lloyd seemed out of breath.
"Are you okay?" Harumi asked.
"Yeah. Just need a second." Lloyd smiled, leaning against the tree they sat by.
"Let me see." Harumi leaned in to adjust Lloyd's sling into a more resting position.
"How's that?" She asked.
"Oh, um. Good. Very close." Lloyd said. He just realized what he said.
"I-I-I mean, snuggly. I mean, snug." Lloyd stood up and cleared his throat.
"Are you sure we're heading the right way?" Harumi asked, following.
Lloyd grabbed a stick and stabbed it in the ground. He looked at the shadow and nodded.
"Pretty sure. If this map is right, there's a river that runs through Primeval's Eye that way." He pointed, acording to the shadow.
"And the river leads straight to the hidden Oni Temple that holds the third mask." He reassured Harumi.
"Uh, I don't know, Lloyd. Maybe it would be smarter to turn back and try to find the others. I mean, your arm is still pretty bad and we're all alone out here." Harumi suggested.
"I'm doing okay. They're doing fine." Lloyd said. His tone made him sound absolutely sure.
"And, anyway, we can't take the chance. If the Sons of Garmadon get to the mask first, they'll have all three." He said that not only to remind Harumi, but remind himself why he was here in the first place.
"Okay, but I want you to rest that arm for a while and let me take a turn." Harumi said, taking the sword from Lloyd's hand and leading the way.
. . .
"Any sign of Lloyd and Rumi?" Pixal asked, walking up to Zane in the somewhat tilted room of the Bridge.
"Negative. Should I gather a search party?" Zane asked.
"They're fine. We should stay here for now." Morro walked out, looking more tired than usual. That's new.
"Morro, you don't just have a dislocated shoulder, you have a sprained arm, get back here!" Nya yelled. Morro quickened his pace to escape treatment.
Pixal sighed.
"He's right. For now, we need to stay here and find a way to reestablished our comm links. I would hate to use Morro as a mode of communication." She said. Zane nodded.
Cole watched Nya chase Morro below deck again as Kai and Jay were out trying to fix the thrusters.
"What do you think that baby's name is? You think he looks like a Cole Jr.?" Cole asked, standing on the deck, above from the other two. He held the baby in a makeshift carrier on his back.
"I think you should put the baby down and help us out." Jay replied, sass in every word.
"Okay, Zane, give it another try." Jay pressed his comm.
"Zane? Come in, Zane." Kai said.
"Oh, great. Now the radios aren't working." Kai sighed, audibly annoyed. A little more bad luck, Kai may just cause a forest fire.

"You better not blow this." Jay said.
"Me?! Oh, come on. All I've been doing is getting this ship back up." Kai said.
"Yeah- by watching me?" Jay asked.
"Are you guys gonna fix the ship, or argue about it?" Cole asked.
"It might be fixed if you got down here!" Kai pointed.
"You guys say something?" Zane walked out onto the deck. Kai took adeep breath and closed his eyes.
"Any luck reaching Lloyd?" He asked, looking at Zane.
"Pixal and I have only been able to repair the shortwave comlink. It appears we won't be able to find them until we get the Bounty over these trees." Zane explained.
"HE'S FINE I SAID!" Morro's voice echoed from below the deck.
"Wh- uh... Ready to test the thrusters?" Zane asked.
"Let's give it a go." Cole shrugged.
"Don't give orders like you fixed it, I did all the work!" Jay exclaimed.
"Go ahead, Zane." Kai waved.
Zane gave a signal for Pixal. She started up the engine. It revved up.
"Haha, it's working." Cole looked down, leaning over the railings.
"I'll say!" Jay exclaimed. But then, it started to rumble. It was breaking down and smoking.
"Uh oh." Cole said.
"Shut it down! SHUT IT DOWN!!" Jay yelled.
"Abort!!" Kai shouted.
Pixal got the signal just too late and the thruster blew a puff of smoke into Kai and Jay's faces. That couldn't be good for their lungs.
"Oh, that's it. I've had it!" Jay yelled. Zane gave a small chuckle. A Jay break down was coming.
"First we crash land in who-knows-where, surrounded by who-knows-what, and now this!" Jay screamed.
"Well, at least Cole Jr.'s fine so we can give the diapers to Jay." Cole whipped around to show the baby giggling on his back.
"Hi-hi-hi-hilarious." Jay sarcastically laughed. Everyone got their share of giggles from Jay.
Morro was finally patched up from.his brother's skydiving stunt and was able to walk around freely with Nya's permission. Speaking of, she had a device in her hand that beebed when she stepped into the bridge.
"Would you look at that!" Nya exclaimed.
"I got a ping on the mech!" She said.
"My sui-- I mean, your suit, Nya." Pixal said. Nya gave a smile to Pix.
"Come on, Pix. It's yours. You have my full permisson. Even more now that I know it's you." Nya said.
"Then, would you like to come with me to retrieve it?" Pixal asked. Nya nodded and the two went off, giving waves to their loves before they left.
Morro leaned on the railing and tried to move his injured arm. Thankfully, it was his right arm so he could still use his dominant hand. But he looked way too botherd.
"Something wrong, Whirlwind?" Cole asked. Morro just frowned at his injury.
"What, not used to being patched up? Which-- I mean that's kinda bad you never were before." Cole said.
"No." Morro said.
"I've had things like this happen before." He said.
"Well, that's good-- bad-- uh, good that you got patched up, bad it had to happen." Cole nodded. Morro looked up. God, after all this time, Cole still can't read what his face said. It's always something, but he could never figure it out. Maybe he's just on edge since their one way talk on the top of the palace a little while back.

"Well." Morro said. His eyes darted around the wreckage of the Bounty and the greenery around them.
"I don't know." He finally said.
"Maybe I just don't like the fact that this is the situation we're in. I--...." He exhaled while looking around again. He shook his head.
"There has to be something more." He stood up straight and walked away.
Cole narrowed his eyes and played detective in his head.
"For you too..." He said to himself.
. . .
"Stuck in a palace all your life, did you ever imagine you'd be in a place like this?" Lloyd asked, following as Harumi cut down vines and such as they marched forwrds.
"Hacking my way through Primeval's Eye? Not so much." Harumi admitted.
"But to be perfectly honest, I always dreamed being with you." She turned back and said. Lloyd looked at her too. But he didn't really understand what thst meant. Like, walking in a jungle with him? Or literally anything else?
"So, according to this, we're almost to the Black River." Lloyd said, unfolding his map-arm-sling-whatever it was to read his way.
"We just have to get past this part that reads Strangler's Path." He pointed.
"Did you say Strangler's Path?" Harumi asked.
"That's cheery. Why is it called that?"
"Places like these always have colorful names. Half the time, it doesn't mean anything." Lloyd shrugged.
"The Caves of Despair-- euh, bad example." Lloyd paused to think.
"Blind Man's Eye, Hiroshi's Labyrinth. Probably just some bored mapmaker with a wild--"
"Lloyd?" Harumi asked, turning around.
"Harumi!" Lloyd yelled getting dragged acrosz the ground. Something had grabbed his leg. "You're kidding me!" Lloyd exclaimed, looking where the vine was pulling him. It's only a man eating plant, what else is new?
Just then, a sword sliced through the vine and into the ground, freeing Lloyd. He was stunned to see Harumi was the one who threw the blade to cut him loose.
"I-It just—It tried to—You just threw—How did the tree—Where did you learn to throw a sword like that?" Lloyd fumbled on his way to get up.
"I-I don't know. You were gonna be eaten. I-I got lucky, I guess." Harumi said.
"Luck?" Lloyd narrowed his eyes.
"You were clear over here--"
Harumi interrupeted Lloyd with a kiss on the cheek. When she looked, Lloyd's expression wasn't entirely shock, but a little not angry-- but some sort of emotion that sparked a different train of thought in Lloyd's head.
"Should I not have done that?" Harumi asked.
"Let's... Uh. Let's keep going." Lloyd said.
"I guess... Now we know why it's call Strangler's Path." Lloyd took a breath.
"How's your arm?" Harumi asked. Lloyd pulled the sword out of the ground.
"Better than before." He said, continuing his path.
. . .
Pixal and Nya had returned with the Samurai X mech only to get straight to work.
"Try now." Zane said, back in the Bridge. Pixal pressed a button.
"No." She sighed.
Zane connected a few more wires.
"And now?" He asked.
"No." Pixal seemingly slammed her fist against the counter.
"I detect frustration from you, yet that emotion is not needed for this task. Is something wrong?" Zane asked.
"No." Pixal said. The two stared at each other for a few seconds.
"Yes. Zane, may I ask you something?" Pixal broke in.
"You have half my heart. You can ask me anything." Zane said.
"Was I more...useful...inside the computer?" Pixal asked.
"What sort of question is that?" Zane half laughed.
"You can be honest with me, because I want to be a useful member of the team, but I would prefer not to return to the computer." Pixal twirled her fingers.
"I like having a body, but if you require my assistance in your headset--"
"The choice has always been yours, Pixal." Zane interrupted her and place a hand on her shoulder.
"And I, for one, like seeing you like this." If he could, Zane's eyes would be hearts.
"Good." Pixal returned the expression.
"Now?" Zane went back to the conouter.
"Still no." Pixal said.
"You notice anything off with the brothers? You know, before they got split up in the skydiving incident?" Cole asked.
"Look at you, P.I." Kai joked.
"Nah, I'm serious here. Pass the wrench?" Cole asked.
"Got the wrench?" Kai asked.
"Wrench coming your way." Jay passed it.
"Maybe it has to do with Lloyd having the hots for the princess." Cole took the wrench from Kai's hands and continued to tinker away.
"What, you think Morro's like Kai?" Jay asked.
"Huh?!" Kai asked.
"You know, protevtive of the dating life?" Jay suggested.
"Yeah-huh. Not anymore." Kai said.
"Because I am too charming to deny." Jay grinned.
"As if!" Kai pushed away Jay's face.
"Maybe Morro's been off because he got injured. Or-- Lloyd got injured, whatever. And he couldn't do anything." Kai leaned on the wood.
"Like, survivor's guilt but, with only an injury? Pass the pliers." Cole said.
"Got pliers?" Kai asked.
"I don't have the pliers." Jay said. The pliers popped up.
"Oh. Why, thank you." Jay did a double take.
"Cole? Hehe. I thought you put the baby down for a nap." Jay said.
"You mean little Cole Jr.? I did, but he was pretty restless." Cole replied, digging his head into the mechanics to get a better look.
"Uh-huh. Yeah. Then why is little Cole Jr. standing in front of me and passing me the pliers?" Jay asked. Kai and Cole looked over to Jay who was frozen in place with shock. And a standing child holding pliers.
"Uh... Cole Jr. is walking now?!" Cole shouted.
"I don't know much about babies, but are babies supposed to walk?" He asked.
"No. No they are not. And I don't think they know what pliers are." Kai took the tool. The baby giggled and walked around. He found a cup of tea on the table. He took his and blew away the steam.
"And they definitely can't do that." Kai said.
"Okay, now I've seen it all. Now I really quit." Jay turned around.
"Ah. Ninja never quit." The baby laughed.
Jay jolted his place. Side eye. He slowly turned around. Zane had now joined and womdered what in the world is happening on deck.
"Uh, guys, I don't think that's Cole Jr." Jay said.
"That's Master Wu! He shouted. Cole's jaw dropped, Jay's hands were on his head, Kai actually didn't know what to say and Zane came in at a time that gave this situation no context at all.
Kai finally decided to input his thoughts.
"Who's telling Morro?"
