✞︎ "alright mysta, we're entrusting you with this one." vox whispered.
"i'll take care of it." mysta replied, stretching his neck.
earlier...
"i want to join." mysta said with his hand raised.
when the four of them arrived, vox immediately started planning the points and the speaker who will represent each. it didn't take long before mysta volunteered.
"what? i'm the guy who loves cleaning the room, right?" mysta said and pointed to a sentence on the whiteboard.
'the reason for the occult club's room'
"i'll explain that."
"are you sure?" ike asked, worried. "mysta, you can't curse at the parents, you know that," he added.
"i'm not that f**king disrespectful, man. and besides, our club room is at stake. i don't want to lose this safe haven like a dumb loser." mysta said and leaned on the chair.
end of the flashback.
"ma'am, i understand your point. but for your f*—" mysta inhaled. "...for your information, the occult club has owned that clubroom for six years, and never in those years was it taken away from the occult club nor it was asked by the other clubs."
vox nodded.
"additionally, the cheerleading club has been sharing the clubroom with the basketball club for years. it is understandable that they ask for a room since they're all women, but why do they have to ask for the occult club's room? the room that we have been owning for six years?"
good job. vox mouthed.
thanks. mysta mouthed back.
"because what does the occult club even do?! i bet you guys just play games and hang around inside the room! at least give it up to the people who need it more than you guys!"
"we all have different beliefs." ike spoke up. "ma'am, do you believe in god?"
"what the? yes, i do."
"if you believe in god, you must also believe in the opposite." ike said and pushed his eyeglasses up. "we believe ghosts are real and we are here to keep them in their line, ma'am."
the whole room fell silent.
only for gracita's laugh to break it.
"oh my! handsome guys sure are nuts," she said while wiping her tears away.
ike chuckled as well, his handsome cackle fascinating gracita.
because if you can't convince them...
charm them. ike thought.
"the cheerleading club having no clubroom is the school's problem. you don't have to take the occult clubroom from us." it was shu's turn. "you can ask for another room but not ours. because it has been ours to begin with. our past seniors had a hard time getting a room." he said.
"NO. i don't see the importance of this occult shit!"
"looks like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
everyone glanced at vox.
"v-vox?" y/n mumbled.
"how about you call muuri chieko and nanato kumi over? then we can talk about why they truly want the occult club," vox said with a smile.
"no." y/n spoke, her voice shaking a little.
"ma'am, i beg of you. the club room was left in my care by my seniors. you can take another room but why does it have to be ours?" y/n said, almost sounding so pathetic. "please talk to muuri-san. i don't understand why it really has to be the occult club—"
"shut up! it better be the occult club than the cheerleading club! what does your club do anyway?! this club is nonsense!"

"don't you dare speak to our president in that tone and yell at her." vox's tone rose.
"hey! if you want a club room so bad, build a building and give it to your kid!" luca also snapped off, which honestly surprised everyone.
"you—! how dare you?! you guys are just kids!!"
as they all fought, vigil just sat there, staring at y/n with vigil's lips a bit gaped open.
the adult saw how she trembled while watching her friends do something she never expected them to do. and while looking at y/n... she felt...
familiar...
"ciro." vigil mumbled.
y/n glanced at vigil the moment she heard her father's name.
but before she could ask vigil to repeat what she just said, the door of the student council office was barged open.
"sorry, i'm late. we're talking about the club rooms, right?"
"papa..!" y/n's eyes twinkled like a million stars.
"my sweet..! sorry i'm late." he apologized.
y/n just nodded. but she couldn't hide the blush she had.
the five guys who were fighting gracita on the other hand were frozen. they didn't expect ciro to come! and so did gracita!
"wait, he looks familiar." gracita whispered to her friend.
vigil chuckled. "no wonder miss leto was familiar."
"so you are ciro's child." vigil said to y/n. "and here i thought the surname was just a coincidence."
ciro sat beside his daughter. "uh... hehe. do i know you?" he asked, making vigil smile.
"nanato vigil." vigil said. "muuri gracita." she also introduced her friend.
"nice to meet you. leto ciro." ciro introduced himself as well.
"uncle ciro!" luca called and cried behind the older man. "those ladies and their daughters want to take the occult clubroom from us!" luca exclaimed.
"u-uncle ciro?" ciro blinked.
ike's eyes widened a bit when an idea popped into his head.
"uncle ciro!" ike also called. "they even made y/n cry!"
ciro flinched.
"my y/n cried..?" ciro cried.
"n-no—!"
"don't lie! you cried earlier!"
"w-what—?"
"they made my y/n cryyyy!" ciro cried, literally, while hugging his daughter tight.
"why do they want the occult clubroom anyway? can't they just search for another room?" ciro worriedly asked and glanced at shoto.
shoto nodded. "we told them we could, but their daughters insisted on the occult clubroom." shoto said.
vox grinned.
that's when y/n felt a pair of big palms covering her ears.
she couldn't hear anything but saw that vox has taken the stage and talked to the two ladies. there was a smirk plastered on his lips.
she couldn't read his lips at all.
y/n saw how gracita and vigil's eyes widened, and how ciro's hold on her hand tightened.
y/n doesn't know what's happening, but she could see that her friends are winning.
"... that's all. so please don't ask for the occult club room ever again," vox said and bowed in his seat.
gracita was shaking as she slowly glanced at vigil.
"what did he say?" y/n asked and glanced at luca.
"some words that even mysta's censorship can't censor." luca replied and stuck his tongue out.
y/n just shook her head before she glanced at her papa.
"i'll talk to the parents now. you guys can leave." ciro said to the kids with a smile.
"i guess that includes me." shoto also said.
everyone stood up and left the office one by one.
"don't worry, my sweet. i won't let anyone take your happiness away." ciro said while pinching y/n's cheek. "you're so like your mother. you guys are obsessed with the supernatural."

y/n just smiled. "thank you, papa. although... i didn't tell you anything about this..."
ciro smiled. "i wanted to visit you since i went to my office earlier. then i found out you guys are in the student council office, sooo..."
"oh, okay." y/n replied. "we'll wait for you outside."
"oki doki. i'll be quick, i promise."
y/n smiled at her father before she left the room. now there's just the three of them.
silence.
"vigil, what did i tell you about your fucking friend?"
vigil immediately stood up and did a salute. "sir."
"don't fucking sir me." ciro darkly said and walked to the lady. "did you know anything about your daughters bullying mine? just how bad of a mother were you?" ciro whispered.
"i hope your dad talks some sense to them." shu said.
"yeah... to be honest, chieko's mom isn't making any sense anymore, you know? now i'm not wondering where muuri got her attitude from," ike commented as well.
but y/n was silent.
she was thinking about how kumi's mother knew about ciro.
"are you alright?" vox asked the lady.
"that aside..." y/n crossed her arms. "you guys promised not to fight with them. what happened?"
"oop. sorry." luca apologized while scratching his head.
"we had no other choice. it's like talking to a child— no. talking to a child is actually better." vox said and scoffed.
y/n just sighed. "thank god papa came in time."
"yeah. he's a real lifesaver," ike said.
"not gonna lie, i felt chills when he entered the room. especially while he was hearing vox out earlier." mysta also added.
"just what did you guys tell them?"
vox shrugged. "should we go back to our room?"
"our room..." y/n mumbled.
"mhmm! let's go! i have a lot to tell you guys, actually." y/n happily said as she skipped away.
the five glanced at each other before shrugging and following their precious y/n.

✞︎ "you met what?!"
"you mean who?"
the six of them left school altogether and went to the convenience store to have some ice cream.
"strangers, that's what!" ike exclaimed. "are you sure they didn't do anything to you?! anything inappropriate at all?!"
"i-i'm happy you're making friends, i really am... but for those people to just suddenly approach you..." vox mumbled with his eyes spinning.
"am i the only one who thinks you guys are overreacting? come on. she's finally making friends. at least be proud of her." mysta said.
shu hummed while luca was just busy stuffing his face with ice cream bread.
"right. sorry. we're still proud of you, though! just worried." ike immediately said.
"yeah... just worried..." vox mumbled with his life escaping his mouth.
"y/n, do you want to taste my ice cream?" shu asked.
"yes please."
"taste mine too, y/n!" luca said.
"no... it might not be enough for you."
"b-but!"
"i'll taste your ice cream, luca." ike joined in
"but that's gay..."
"it's only gay when i say it." mysta proudly said.
the six took their time eating their ice cream when their peace was suddenly disrupted by some unwanted visitors.
"come back here!"
shu and the others immediately hid y/n behind them.
"ah shit! stop following me!"
"i said get the fuck back here!"
the convenience store owner was close to fainting as the shelves and the products were knocked over.
the six friends then gaped in the air when they saw someone jumping over the shelf in front of them.
it was like slow motion.
y/n's eyes met his. and something just twinkled in his orbs the moment his eyes landed on her necklace.
they all winced in pain when his foot then got caught up to the next shelf, causing him to trip and push the other shelves over.
"i-is he okay?" y/n asked out of concern.
but her friends' faces were grim and dark. they saw that.
how that stranger's eyes twinkled at the sight of y/n.
they all went to the counter to pay despite the convenience store being ransacked by some random thugs running. the owner was crying.
as the kindest she is, y/n offered her help.
with no choice, the five also offered help.
"i am so sorry!!" one of the guys who ransacked the store ran back and immediately bowed at the owner.
"please contact this number and he'll pay for everything!" he said and gave a business card.
"you too! sorry for bothering you!" he said to the group of friends.
no.
he was just looking at y/n.
vox took the business card and smiled at him. "it's okay." he said.
"oh." they heard him mumble, as if he just realized that y/n was accompanied by some people.
"nijiiro high," he whispered.
"i'll see you guys next time!" he said and ran out, leaving everyone dumbfounded.
y/n peeked at the business card vox was holding.
y/n fiddled with her charm as she looked nowhere.
she felt some sort of connection. with that person.
somehow.
"that..." shu mumbled.
y/n was cut off from her trance when she felt shu holding the end of her shirt. everyone was ganging up on the card and talking mean about the delinquent, but here's shu.
"is there something wrong?" y/n gently asked.
"i can feel it." shu softly said. "that guy..."
y/n's eyes widened a little. "that's... that's amazing, shu."
"what are you two whispering about?" luca asked with an eyebrow raised.
"nothing, you jealous err yellow... guy." shu awkwardly tried. at least he tried.
"is everything okay?" ike also asked, concerned.
"wow." y/n just mumbled. she can worry people just like this? it's kind of scary.
"...and the bus fees are to be taken care of by hanamori himself. any questions?"
"oh oh oh! meeee!"
"sigh. yes, kotoka?"
"where's doppio?"
"present! hehe. sorry i'm late. where were we?"
"where were we? you weren't even here when we started!"
"sorry, i came into something."
the ombre-haired gentleman's eyebrows furrowed. "doppio you..."
"hmm? is there something wrong, kaicho?" doppio asked as he approached the table. "oh? what are these?" he took a document lying around.
"where were you earlier, doppio dropscythe?" the student council president asked with a strict tone.
"i chased a few delinquents, that's all." doppio honestly said.
"i know. i was looking at your soul." ver— the said president— said and ran his palm through his face.
"but something's tampering with your soul's fire as i try looking deeper. something... igniting right in front of it. something... like..."
ver's eyes slowly widened.
"something like... mom's power," he mumbled.
the rest of the student council officers' eyes widened.
"you mean..." a little girl whispered.
"no. let's talk about it later. let's get back to the topic." ver gave doppio a new folder.
"we were discussing about the sister school activity we'll be having with nijiiro private high school next week. the traditional school field trip every five years." ver explained. "since nijiiro was the host school last field trip, it's the institute's turn."
"hanamori have secured the busses to school. he also proposed a few school activities and a special program, which is what i'm about to discuss right now."
the sister school activity. it's an activity between the sister schools, nijiiro private high school, and tengoku public institute. the schools do this activity every five years as a tradition and this time, it's the nijiiro's turn to visit the public institute once again.
the goal of this sister school activity is to connect bonds with the other party. the school activities prepared were just a few games, booths, maybe a little event, and more. it's only a one-day event.
however, in the special program shoto proposed...
"it says here that two students from each section of each year level from nijiiro will be chosen to stay and study at tengoku for a week." ver said after asking everyone to read a clause from a specific page.
"it will be decided by drawing lots..." zaion mumbled.
"and we're gonna take care of them?! no way!" doppio immediately opposed.
"it's just two per section. that's two times five, ten people. times three year levels. that's thirty people." zaion computed. "doppio's right. this is bullshit." she didn't even hesitate.
"i actually think it's a good idea. i never met a nijiiro student my whole life." kotoka said.
"i don't think it's a bad idea either. we're all from different year levels, i suppose two could manage ten people in their year level." hex sided the dual-colored female.
"meloco? what are your thoughts?"
the lady hummed. "i don't want to bother myself taking care of people my same age... but whatever the majority says."
"to be honest, i don't want this special program either. hanamori said we can reject it anytime." ver said. "i guess i'll just do that."
everyone agreed, but doppio stayed silent.
"wait!" he suddenly exclaimed, turning everyone's heads on him.
"don't! let's continue this special program thing!" doppio said. "it's about this lady i met earlier at the convenience store! she's from nijiiro! and i want to see her again!"
"you were at the convenience store?!"
"ooohh? what does this mean~?" kotoka teased, completely ignoring ver's fuming anger.
"did you fall in love at first sight, pio-chan?" kotoka said in an annoying high pitch while poking doppio.
"kya~ pio-chan is so romantic, kotoka nee-chan wants to have a man like you too~" she dramatically continued, pissing doppio.
"shut up! kotoka nee-chan my ass!"
"kotoka, set aside." ver darkly said with a pretty black and pink ombre-colored fire dancing on top of his palm.
"w-what the?! what the hell did i do?!"
"ACKK—! OI?! WHAT THE?!" doppio exclaimed when ver suddenly took something out of doppio's chest.
it's not just something. it's a fragment of doppio's soul.
everyone knew doppio's soul should be of a different color.
but why is it filled with white?
ver's eyes glowed as he tried to tamper with it, only for his palm to burn with the flames of the white light.
"ow!"
"ver!" they all called in worry.

The Orb Weaver Chronicles
"The Orb Weaver Chronicles contains several major and unique events that may or may not unknowingly intertwines with one another. The author of these chronicles is unknown, although some have hinted at the symbolism behind its name..." - Year unknown, location unknown 9 February 2022 Update: Welcome to the companion short story compilation of my novel trilogy The Shadow Paradigm. This compilation features prequels, sidequels and sequels to the novel's major plotline, as well as featuring a wide range of characters, new and recurring. Prior knowledge of the novel is not necessary as the Orb Weaver Chronicles' short stories are standalone. Once called The Arkesyyan Chronicles, I've deleted quite a few of its old stories. Due to the new avenue and revision, oriented toward more mystery and film-noir ambience, that I took my stories into, I've removed all aliens and overly sci-fi aspects of the whole TSP lineup, so I've updated the Orb Weaver Chronicles accordingly. I hope you enjoy them, and in time, a revised version will also be updated.
