《The Forgotten Gods》Chapter 273

It took the three of us about two hours to gather up the bodies. As we did, Kasidy warmed back up to me some. Either that or the task of moving fried orc chunks was enough that she forgot that she was mad at me.
Blink had sent me the message that she was tracking the lich, which for now, was a good thing. I figured that he would head back to Castle Westiral. If we could do what the armies of two nations hadn’t been able to do and remove the lich, then my time to get to Cloudia would be reduced.
Another hour after the bodies had been gathered and the mass Lay-to-rest ritual was finished. There was nothing much on the bodies as they had been exploded fairly well. So the armor was just scrap. There were a few orc-sized weapons, but once again, for us, they were scrap.
As I got in from the task of cleaning up the bodies, I realized I had not seen a bathroom in the whole place. I didn’t know where the water came from in the tower or how they took care of other needs here. But more important to my needs right now, I didn’t know how they bathed.
Kasidy was sitting on the stairs going up, looking at her hands covered in dead gunk. Renfry just looked like he didn’t care much about the problem, but he was covered as well.
I asked. “Renfry, is there a bath in this place?”
He shook his head. “No, my lord. The tower is lacking things that it once had. I don’t know where everything went, but I feel that over the years that it was a lair people took parts away.”
I nodded slowly. “Well, then there’s nothing for it. Renfry, you asked me how I had dungeons show up on the map. It’s because I am a dungeon master, and they are the ones that I control. I also am spreading them. So…”

I pulled out the dungeon seed. “This is a dungeon seed. I am going to plant it in the tower, and then we are going to use the Safe room to get cleaned up and eat a good meal.”
Renfry’s eyes got wide with a little bit of fear. Kasidy pipped up and said, “Don’t worry, Renfry, it’s not as bad as you might think. He will put the safe zone right at the entrance of the tower so that we don’t have to go in.”
He nodded and then asked. “Will Irwin be safe?”
I shrugged my shoulders. “Don’t have a clue on that one. We should grab him so that he isn’t hurt. Lead the way, Renfry.”
With that, we went up the stairs. I had thought that we would stop in one of the rooms on the second floor. However, we moved up to the third. Then I was surprised again. Slumped by the ladder was Irwin.
I looked over at Renfry, and he shrugged at me. “My lord, I thought that his people would have been here to gather him. I had not thought that he would have been left.”
I smiled as I grabbed the man’s arms. “Get his legs. We need to get down to the first floor. I’ll make that the starting area and the cellar can be the safe room.”
Kasidy smiled as she saw us struggle to move the guy downstairs. It wasn’t that he was heavy. It was just that we were doing this all wrong. We should have had a stretcher, but we didn’t, and so we were just carrying him. It likely would have been easier for Renfry to carry him, but I wasn’t sure about the care he would have had.
When we got to the bottom, I smiled. “Okay, you two wait here. I am going to seed the building and then make this the starting room. Don’t leave this space until the safe room shows up.”

They both nodded as I headed for the castle core’s room. It only took me a few minutes to get through the narrow passage, and then I dropped the seed and activated the dungeon. I went right into the interface as the dungeon was expanding.
First, I made the downstairs into the starting room. Then I claimed my room as the dungeon master’s room, which changed the layout of the core room. A spiral staircase showed up behind me, heading up to my room. Then I moved the first-floor safe room to use the door to the cellar. As I triggered that change, I got a pop-up.
Select dungeon type.
Tower/Subterranean
In all of the training that I had received about dungeons, I had never seen anything about this option. Like all good fools, I grabbed the thing I didn’t know and selected it.
Eternal Tower
Floor 3/100
Sub-floor 1
This dungeon will grow up and out.
Provide mana and supplies for the tower to grow.
I smiled. “I hope that there is another training for this place.”
I headed back down to the other three. “Let's get through into the safe room. Then we can get cleaned up and figure out what we are doing.”
I felt out for Blink. She was right at the edge of our range. I could feel her going in and out like bad cell service. “Blink, I turned the tower into a dungeon. Stay safe.”
I felt the joy of hunting coming back from her. “I will, Daddy. I think I can catch him, but if not, then I will find out where he is.”
I shot back. “Be careful once you find where he is; come back so that we can figure out what to do. Unless you can take him out safely.”
I felt laughter across the bond as it faded out of range. Then I headed through the door into the safe room just a step ahead of the others.
I called out. “Dave! We are going to need some baths in here. I brought a couple of new people.”
Dave flashed out of existence for a moment and then reformed. He smiled and waved. “Dungeon master. I didn’t know that there were some of these options in a dungeon. Going up is something new to me.”
I flashed him a grin. “Me too. Now let me introduce you to…”
Dave cut me off. “Renfry, so good to see you again. I am glad that after all these years, you have chosen to come back to a dungeon. What can I do for you today?”
I laughed. ‘Right, Renfry has been in a dungeon before. Do you know Irwin?”
Dave shook his head. “Nope, I haven’t met him before.”
Renfry waved to Dave. “Mind if I take the first room? I need to bathe.”
Dave nodded to Renfry. “Enjoy the bath I will see you when you get back.”
As Renfry started to head off, I cleared my throat. “Aren’t you going to help with Irwin?”
Renfry stopped and looked at Dave. “Can’t you just move him to a bed? I thought that’s what all dungeons do with those who can’t move on their own.”
Dave smiled. “I wanted to see what Arn would do.”
Then our bartender clapped his hands, and Irwin started to float up to a room. Once Irwin was moving, Renfry headed up for a bath. Kasidy walked through the door, stopped, and watched as Irwin floated through. She shook her head slightly and waved at Dave.
With a slightly disgusted expression, she said. “Dave, it’s good to see you. I need a bath before I can talk. Lord Arn had us moving exploded burnt bodies for the past few hours.”
