《Children of Alana》Amiel for hire (1)

When Eirian enters his room he noticed Rusul’s arm in white splint “Rusul what happened?”
“Just some accident, the ground I was standing suddenly sunk and I slide off a hill and broke my arm.” The goat looks annoyed at his predicament as if his broken horn is not enough.
“It’s just sank?”
“Yeah the rest of my team walk past it just fine but when I step on it I just slide right off, those useless dice didn’t even warn me about this”
Macro turns to speak “Funny enough something familiar happen to me while I was climbing a branch of a tree I was stepping on suddenly broke for no reason even though that branch was solid and wasn’t damaged before. If one of my teammates didn’t catch me while I fall I could have broken my neck or something.”
Eirian felt the chill when he remembered something that happened to him “Hey I almost got in an accident today too” he then tells them about a gust of wind that came out of nowhere and almost caused him to drown.
In unison Eirian and Macro turn to Rusul “Rusul, maybe your dice is causing this?”
“Let’s us ask more question.” Eirian intends to ask what he really wants to know about his parents this time.
“That junk? Don't worry guy that thing is fake, it’s already broken.”
“it’s broke?”
“Yeah, it’s just shatter itself while I was rolling it and the shop owner dare to accuse me and don't give a refund too.”
“What? It’s shatter?” Eirian disappoints and slowly asks “How exactly does you broke it?”
“Not me that thing is just cheaply made from the start. I was just testing it just like usual, I ask and roll and ask and roll then I check the result then test again.”
“Test? Didn't you said you need two people for it to work?” said Marco.
“Well, I asked other people in the canteen and garden to help me...although sometimes I just roll alone too.”
“...what do you ask about?”
“Everything you know like what I will have for lunch, what color this guy likes, who will I meet, basic stuff I can test the result. I ask and then try to prove the prophecy wrong. The dice said I will have a carrot for lunch, so when I went to canteen and found that they only had a carrot today, I scrounged the entire city for anything else and even settled on eating meat to prove the dice wrong. Every time I can defy the prophecy means the dice is no good. I keep testing and testing and eventually the dam dice just suddenly breaks. The shop owner even blames me for making his dice destroyed itself and refuse to sell me anything else when clearly he just didn’t want to return the money.”

Eirian has no word to say.
Macro looks at Rusul and decided to change the topic “Did you saw anything on your way in Eirian?”
“Just an army of city guards being scary and scrounge every corner of earth and sky. Is it true? There was other bombing?”
“Yeah, I can see the smoke when we arrive back at Alana. Rumor said a crow body was found at the crime scene.”
“Dam first murder case? This is going to be big news for every country” said Eirian.
“I wonder how others will react knowing Alana has slipped up like this. They won’t miss a chance to take some of Alana influence away. My father will properly do nothing though since it’s the bird that die not wolf.”
‘Basically can’t move without excuse.’
“Yeah, Alana has always enjoyed its unique position as a trade hub and being school for many important families. It operates like a city state free from all major power although with this other nations will try even harder to take Alana under their influence and make it a part of their country.” Eirian smile “but that won’t happen though.”
“Why are you so sure?” asked Macro.
“Miss Hellen, headmaster Osmond and every teacher here has always been one step ahead of everyone, balance every country move so that the state of power remain stable. If any one nation tries to make a power move the other five would stop them so that this peace continues.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure” said Rusul as he is looking up to the sky.
“Why shouldn’t I be sure?”
“I’ve been watching the stars since I was a kid, the star of six nation leader always competes between one another but their position always remains the same. These last few years however, some stars have begun to move, some even wane and one star who I thought was nothing came back to life. Newer stars light up and move to take place of the old. This is all a sign of change and turbulent.”
“Star? You mean astrology? That is not real right?”
“Who knows. I always been interests in fate and this is what I see right now.”
Eirian knows that everything is link together through the Eternal One and all action does affect everyone else so he can’t just ignore astrology even though there is no prove in this field of study “What about the star of Headmaster Osmond?”
“Still the same”
“Then...”

“But I wouldn’t use him as an indicator for Alana since he is properly not its real leader.”
“What? Why?”
“King always lives in palace right? It’s a symbol of power to show that he is above others. Any position name, ranking, fancy dress and crown is the same. So in this city where white tower is the tallest building why is Osmond room didn’t stay at the top?”
“That properly so he didn’t have to walk up and down stair all the time?”
“That fair...”
Macro speak up “My father did warn me not to go up the top of white tower so maybe there is something there.”
A son of Fenrir word gives Rusul more reason to suspect “A Fenrir afraid of someone?...I mean wow that top of tower is really suspicious” Rusul changes his tone when Macro starts to growl but Rusul isn’t really afraid of his roommate.
Eirian thinks back to Lao “I think they call him Chief. He takes care of city security or something.”
“Oh, Chief huh maybe he is the real lord here”
‘A guy no body heard of is running Alana? What race is he? Does other country head know?’
The three of them talk for a bit on their theory of who Chief might be. Each guess that Chief is their own races but no one knows for certain.
The next morning Eirian meets with his team to report to Miss Hellen.
“From your story these group of bandits refuse to use weapons and let you get away? It’s seemed they understand the unspoken rule well.” said Miss Hellen.
“We already made a sketch for the fox and bear sir” Eirian handed her a picture that they helped draw together before coming here.
‘Biscuit is surprisingly good at this’
“Thank you for your effort but we won’t be needing this” Hellen takes a glance at the drawing before placing it down.
“What? Won't city guard issue a warrant or a bounty?”
“Since they didn’t attack you we’ll let this go. Where you found them is outside of Alana jurisdiction and we can’t do anything anyway.”
“But they are criminal...”
“Like I say outside of Alana, if you go to our judge they will say the same.” Miss Hellen answered in cold voice.
“What about Mr. Valtos?” asked Biscuit.
“He was caught with a contraband drag along with some other item but I saw a case like this before; As long as he has enough money to pay the fine he’ll be release soon.”
“What about Sergeants Dilay who seem to be taking bride from Valtos before?” Eirian brings the wolf at the gate up.
“Well, there isn’t really a prove that he accepts the money isn’t it.” said Bill.
Eirian turns to Bill in confusion ‘Why are you defending him?’
“Bill is correct we don’t have a prove that he accepts a bride before and from your story he seems like a good solider who care about this city more than his security so I’ll let the city guard take care of this themselves.”
“He is their men and they might take the bride as well, surely you would know someone who can investigate this corruption Miss Hellen” said Eirian.
“That enough Eirian that is city guard business we teacher don’t have that kind of power.”
“But you are...”
“Enough. I know you mean well and I thank you all for telling me what happened but you all should go get some rest now; this is the first time you fought in real battle isn't it? so reflect on what happened it’s a rare experience for students. I’ll have sent this report to the city guard if you’ll excuse me.”
‘You’re Hellen the winter rose. One of the most famous Amiel in the war and one of a few Amiel living here. Surely you must have some influence?’ Eirian thought but didn’t speak out.
They left the room and each headed out on their own way but Eirian notices Bill looking his way.
“Don’t worry I’ll get your money from the bank today.”
“Of course, I know our team leader will keep his promise.” Bill says with a smile and walk aways.
Eirian sigh ‘If I give Bill money I should still have over 40,000 Nil left for the rest of this year but it might not be enough if my team need something. Better go look for a way to get money today then...does anyone accept Amiel student for a part time job I wonder?’

Cultivating Earth [Hiatus]
[This fiction is on indefinite hiatus. I'm currently acting as a 24-hour caregiver for my step-father who had a massive heart attack. I apologize for disappearing so quickly, but sometimes that's just life. I'll return as soon as possible. Sorry everyone!] Zhao Gang, after hundreds of thousands of years cultivating, has finally reached the penultimate threshold. He is ready to ascend to the level of True Immortal. Driven by the need for a place his enemies won't find him, Zhao Gang puts together an audacious plan. He has developed a revolutionary new formation which will allow him to ascend while on even the lowest planes. To avoid drawing attention, he has to choose a plane that is relatively desolate, however. He chooses Earth. Fast forward three thousand years. Zhao Gang discovers what his work has wrought - a cultivation-free culture that has delved the deep mysteries of creation - he can't help but think how this tiny little planet devoid of natural energy could affect the course of all creation. There's only one problem. For that to happen, he has to succeed in cultivating Earth. Notes: Chinese names should be ignored in the social context - they don't mean anything. Sorry for slaughtering such a beautiful tradition. This novel starts off slower than most. If the slow-roll isn't your thing, you might want to give this a pass. If it's not for you, I understand. Also, releases may be broken up into smaller chunks. The goal is 5k words, but definitely more than 4k. If you see a short release, be aware that more is probably coming. I'll be honest and say that I'm struggling with each new scene, if only because I want to balance the scope of vision with good pacing. I hope the work I put into it is worthwhile.
