《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 750 The Voyage Begins Part 8

Once I safely land on a small hunk of rock sticking out of the water I gate back to the first volcano island. Then I fly to the far side of the island before creating another gate back to the village. Both times I am careful to make sure that the maker doesn't take over my gate.
Hopefully, this will prevent the maker from learning anything from my gates or following me back to the elves. By the time I return to the village the sun is up so I quickly find Nala and Albion to have breakfast. I relax and enjoy spending some time with the two of them.
After breakfast I send the two of them off to play and take out the piles of gems. Since I was in such a rush to harvest them they are all in one big pile and I have to sort them. Even uncut, they glitter in the sunlight, just the sight of them makes me happy.
The diamonds are the most numerous, making up about half of the pile. Of the remaining half, two thirds are rubies and the remaining third is sapphires. In total there are only twelve mana stones, not a great amount but still useful.
For now, I put everything but the diamonds back into my pouch, I will experiment with them later. Before I start working on the diamonds I spend a few hours meditating to restore my mana. Then I start using mana to buff the diamonds and grind off the rough edges.

You can polish gems.
'I forgot I had that skill! I haven't seen it since I made Ruby's swords! Speaking of Ruby, I wonder how she and Isabella are doing?'
As I am polishing and grinding the diamonds I am being careful to collect all the dust created. If this doesn't get me enough dust I may have to grind down some diamonds later. Once all the diamonds are polished I take a handful and start merging them together.

From them I make a disc about two feet across and about an inch thick. It is not quite transparent, but it is enough to let light through and it is very strong. When I test it with mana I find that it can hold a large amount, even more than the wood.
That means that the more windows I put in the more mana I will have for enchantments. Even if I add enchantments to allow those inside to see out through them there will be extra. With how strong the windows will be I can even put them below the waterline without worrying.
Not only will that allow light into the lowest deck, but it would allow watchers to see underwater. So, I enchant the window with clear sight and darkvision to test how much will be left. Of course, I put in the normal strengthening and repair so it doesn't need maintenance.
From the amount of mana remaining I estimate I will need a hundred windows to provide enough for the spacial enchantment. That is only if all the windows are this size, I plan to put bigger ones in the upper cabins. First however, I take the completed window over to the ship to install it and make sure there are no problems.
Luckily, the wood moves aside easily and then tightens around the window once it is in place. I even punch the window to test its durability and the window doesn't move. It does crack a little, but the repair enchantment quickly takes care of it.
From that I would say the windows will hold up even under a direct hit from a ballista. That is not counting the protective enchantments of the ship which will protect the windows as well. Just one little window doesn't let in all that much light, but once I add more it should be fine.

Looking out through the window also proves to have no problems, it is perfectly clear. Meaning my enchantment works, even though I created it without a spell to base it off of. Now that I know it works I return to the beach and start creating more windows.
First I create the bigger windows to make sure I have enough diamonds. They are square windows, three feet on each side and I make a total of twenty of them. I plan to put ten on each of the two higher decks, that should make them nice and bright.
Once those twenty are done I go back to making the small circular windows. After making seventy nine more, giving me a total of eighty, I stop to keep the number even. There are still a couple of dozen diamonds left, but I leave them for now. That way, if I need more diamond dust later then I can grind them down.
Then I take all the windows over to the ship and spend the next several hours installing them. As expected, the upper two decks end up nice and bright, but the lower deck isn't so nice. Even after putting forty windows, which is half of them, it is still fairly dim.
I also notice that the air inside is rather stale, not something I had thought about when designing it. That is solved by putting another enchantment on the windows to allow fresh air to pass through them. This also uses up more of the mana than I originally calculated being left over.
However, that should be covered by the extra mana from the twenty big windows in the top decks. I also still plan to experiment with the diamond dust and see how that works. That still doesn't solve the problem of the lower deck being rather dim, not to mention the bottom deck.
Although since the bottom deck is going to be used for storage that isn't as big of a problem. This lower deck is meant for the majority of the elves to live in so it is more important. Since that is the case, I decide to put in the other forty windows on this deck.
With a total of eighty windows, even though they are small, the deck is much brighter. Between that and the constant fresh air it is a much better environment for people to live in. Since the bottom deck is below water anyway the windows wouldn't provide as much light.
It is better to use them here and think of another way to light up the bottom deck. With all the windows installed I return to the beach and eat some lunch while I think about it. When I am unable to think of anything I put it aside to work on something else for a while.
Taking some of the skins from Brightfire's hunting I make a simple pouch. Then I enchant it to be bigger on the inside, but the pouch folds in on itself and then explodes. Luckily, it is a small explosion and the damage it does to me heals quickly.
I don't think it is a problem with the enchantment, just the pouch was too weak to handle it. So, I head over to the elven crafters and collect all the scrap material from both the legendary beast and the wyvern. While the pieces might be too small for the crafters to use, I can merge them into whatever I want.

Impossible Devices
Twenty years after the start of the new millenium, the world was largely at peace. Crime was at an all-time low in most nations. No large scale conflicts between countries currently existed, and the people of Earth had even begun to see hope for the future. In the year 2020, all of that changed. The first occurrences of the interdimensional reality altering zones occurred. Named 'Dungeons' these supernatural and alien existences unleashed monsters and mayhem upon the world. Only after considerable loss of life and adaptation to the new world order did people begin to rally back. The discovery of a strange artificact item in one of the dungeons allowed humanity to develop powers far beyond their wildest imagination. This device worked on principles considered to be impossible. It was not the only one. Items of super-science and magic were discovered inside the dungeons of the world that could not possibly work according to the known laws of physics. Yet, they did. A special school was built to train young people so that they could specialize in dungeon exploration, in the defeat of monsters and the acquisition of the Impossible Devices. Warning: Tagged as [18+] for mature content that includes Adult Situations, Sexual Situations, Graphic Violence, and offensive language. Further: This story is a work of comedy and parody.
