Chapter 162: Lunch 2
Leonel’s eyes widened at Isolde, and the latter shut her mouth immediately. The two pairs of eyes crept slowly at Ren, gauging his reaction.
Ren gave Leonel a pointed look. “Leo, I thought that you wouldn’t burrow money from Isolde. What happened to your pride?”
Leonel slumped on his chair and looked dead to the side. “It got shattered in the face of hunger.”
“It’s fine, Ren. It’s just a small amount.”
“I’m concerned. I think your concept of small regarding money isn’t the same as mine.” Ren laughed a little.
Isolde gave an elegant half-shrug. “It’s just a hundred thousand. Nothing serious.”
Ren’s eyes went big in surprise. And he snapped at Leonel. “Leo!”
Ren really thought that Leonel only borrowed food money from Isolde. Who knew that he burrowed the exact amount of his loan?
Leonel clasped his hands in prayer. “Sorry. Isolde offered to pay my loan without interest so . . .”
Ren could only shake his head while he stared at Isolde. It was not like he was against the idea. He was just embarrassed for Leonel.
“Do you always lend that huge amount to your friends?” Ren asked instead.
“Sometimes. But don’t worry, everyone pays me back,” answered Isolde with a confident nod of her head.
“And if they don’t?” Ren asked.
Isolde sweetly smiled. “My family usually takes care of it, so I don’t know the specifics.”
Something told Ren that those people’s fate didn’t end up well.
The door of the room opened, and came in Ragnar in complete suit and tie. His hair was perfectly gelled back, and his face was handsome as hell. He was an attention grabber. The type that people would forget everything they do just to stare at his face.
There were types of looks that got boring over time, but definitely not Ragnar’s. Ren couldn’t blame why Ragnar wanted to become ugly in the game. With a face like that, he could only imagine how many women or even men were after him every day.

Leonel swallowed before he spoke in a grumbling tone, “Man. Is he perfect or what?”

“Sorry, I’m late,” said Ragnar and loosened his tie and opened a few buttons of his collar before he took a sit. His actions were simple, but the sparkles that came with them blinded everyone who saw.
“I had an important meeting. Did you guys order already?”
Isolde gulped and wiped her saliva before she covered her face with the menu. She was a sucker of handsome men like every girl, and right now . . . she was surrounded by three.
While Leonel continued to grumble. “Even the way he talks is perfect. There is no fairness in this world.”
Ren ignored Leonel and answered Ragnar’s question. “We did. Thanks for treating us to lunch, by the way.”
Just minutes after Ragnar entered, the people in aprons entered as well with carts and carts of food. And within seconds, the table was full enough to fill twenty people’s big bellies.
Ragnar didn’t mind that Ren and Leonel ordered everything on the menu. He expected it, in fact.
From the corner of his eyes, he even saw Ren smirking his way.
Ragnar hid a slight grin of his own behind his poker face. Ren was definitely going to get even with him from his lost gil. He knew him to be pitiful and vengeful, something he found amusing, for whatever reasons.
Ragnar also ordered his portion and said, “Dig in, guys. And if there are leftovers. You can take them home.”
“You read my mind,” Leonel said and began to munch all the food in front of him without pausing, taking only a large intake of air before he stuffed food in his mouth again. It felt so long that he tasted meat this good that it put tears in his eyes.
“Don’t mind if we do.” Rin grinned before he ate as well.

After more than thirty minutes of everyone eating and chatting, the door suddenly burst open and came in Silvia in a white above-the-knee dress and an oversized fur coat hanging on her bare shoulder. Her hair was braided and styled in an updo, with a few strands falling on the side of her face.
Leonel choked and snatched a glass of water. He thought that he had passed out from the delicious food and that he was in heaven at the sight of Silvia’s gorgeous face.
Isolde was surprised at Silvia’s appearance before her shoulder buckled when she felt like a commoner next to her.
While Ren looked away and immediately realized that Silvia couldn’t recognize him.
“Silvia, there’s a door for a reason. You’re supposed to knock,” said Ragnar in an even voice, not even surprised at the sudden unexpected visit from his fianc??.
Silvia only smiled, and her smile widened even more at the sight of Ren and the others, making the whole room brighten. “Sorry. Your secretary told me that you’re having lunch with your friends. So I got curious.”
“Yes. I met them in the game.”
“Really?” Silvia’s eyes shone even more at the mention of COVENANT.

Ragnar introduced Silvia to the others before asking the latter. “What are you doing here anyway?”
That was only when Silvia’s smile dropped, and she faced Ragnar with tilted hips and crossed arms. “We’re supposed to go to the seamstress to make your suit for my birthday, remember?”
Ragnar was quiet before he asked with a blank face. “That was today?”
Silvia rolled her eyes before she sweetly smiled at Ren and the others. “Sorry for barging in, but I have to cut your lunch short. Do you mind if I take Ragnar with me?”
Leonel could only shake his head. It felt like something was stuck in his throat, and he didn’t have the right to even answer the goddess before him.
“Go ahead,” said Isolde, “but don’t you want to have lunch with us first?”
Silvia shook her head. “I’m on a strict diet to prepare for my upcoming twentieth birthday. You’re all invited, by the way. Ragnar’s friends are my friends.”
Ragnar faced Ren and the others and apologized. “Sorry. I forgot that I have an appointment with her.”
Silvia elbowed Ragnar in a nonchalant way and beamed. “You always forgot. Let’s go before you decide to reschedule again.”
Ragnar could do nothing when Silvia dragged him outside. “Make yourself comfortable and order all the food that you want. And sorry that I have to leave first.”
And before they left, Silvia sweetly smiled at everyone. “See you.”
When the door closed, Leonel whipped his head in Ren’s direction.
“I really wanted to put Ragnar in a sack and repeatedly slap him left and right. That guy is so rich, handsome, and has a goddess of a fianc??. How can that man’s life be that perfect?!”
Isolde pouted, and she sliced the steak on her plate a little too forceful that it created scraping sounds.
“And she said that we’re invited to her birthday! She’s so nice.”
“It’s called being polite,” Isolde butt in. “And Silvia will probably celebrate in one of her islands. It’s going to be a big birthday celebration.”
“Really?” Leonel’s eyes widened. “And I thought that only eighteen birthdays are celebrated that big.”
“The rich always celebrate their birthday that way,” Ren said without a care. “Let’s finish this food and get out of here. We still have something to do after this.”
Eventually, Ren and Ragnar take out a whole week’s portion of food before Isolde parted ways with them.
Like usual, Isolde wanted to come with Ren and Ragnar to their apartment hunting, but her family’s call denied her that option.
In the end, only Ren and Ragnar met with the real estate agent and began their hunt for a place to buy.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
