I Am the Fated Villain Chapter 158

Chapter 149
149 — Enlightened; Loving!
Yue Mingkong sat inside her white jade chariot without a sound, with a faint blush adorning her face. Her azure hair was tied up in a neat bun, and she resembled a picturesque fairy who could enthrall the hearts of those who saw her.
Her expression showed happiness and surprise.
It had to be said that Gu Changge’s words indeed disturbed her mind.
After all…those words coming from Gu Changge’s mouth held a completely different weight when compared to similar words coming from someone else.
When others said it, she would just ignore their words and not them to heart, but when Gu Changge said it…everything changed.
Yue Mingkong felt that Gu Changge suddenly looked like an enlightened being.
Since when did even he know that she was a beauty?
Yue Mingkong had always held great confidence in her charm, and questioned herself countless times just how many women could compare with her?
Gu Changge, however, never gave a damn about her.
Be it the past life or this one, he was all the same, and that frustrated Yue Mingkong.
“Long Teng targeted someone he shouldn’t have targeted, so it’s already a blessing for him to get a quick death like this.”
Gu Changge said with a faint smile as if he didn’t know how Yue Mingkong’s mind was a mess because of him.
After all, it didn’t cost him anything to say nice words to her every now and then.
This chapter was stolen from original website, please visit novelupdates for newest chapters.
What’s more? He was merely stating facts.
Yue Mingkong stared at him with unblinking eyes, as if she wanted to see through him when she heard his words.
“Long Teng courted death, so no one can be blamed for it.”
She said with a calm tone.
Although Yue Mingkong was gleeful, she didn’t show any of that on her face.
Her expression showed that…she didn’t care about anything.
It’s just that Gu Changge already knew that she loved to hear such words from him, so he couldn’t be bothered by her pretense. He, too, smiled and said, “Indeed, no one can be blamed for his miserable end. Even if I didn’t kill him, you would have probably done that, Mingkong.”
There wasn’t anyone to hear their discussion, either way, so Gu Changge decided to speak with her without any pretenses.
As a regressor, Yue Mingkong definitely understood Long Teng’s character, yet she still went to find trouble with him…it showed that she hated Long Teng, and wanted to slaughter him with a borrowed knife.
Gu Changge had always indulged and spoiled Yue Mingkong, so he wasn’t bothered by her petty actions and thoughts.
“What do you mean?”
Yue Mingkong stared at him with a cold expression, as if she didn’t understand Gu Changge’s words.
Gu Changge, on the other hand, decided not to expose her and said with a laugh, “Long Teng’s corpse is in my hands, so what are your plans for him? Tell your hubby, and I might give it to you.”
“You…”
Yue Mingkong didn’t know what to say.
Gu Changge said the words in her heart, after all.
She had plotted against Long Teng for the drop of True Dragon Blood Essence in his possession. If she could refine that drop of True Dragon Blood Essence, her strength would soar, and she might even get her hands on the mighty talent and vitality of the True Dragon Family.
Yue Mingkong didn’t expect Gu Changge to see through her thoughts without much effort.

She couldn’t help but feel annoyed and frustrated.
Why did she always end up with the shorter end of the stick when in Gu Changge’s presence?
“If I tell you, will you give me Long Teng’s corpse?”
Yue Mingkong calmed herself down and asked.
“Why do you never believe your husband?”
Gu Changge said with a regretful tone.
His expression made it hard for Yue Mingkong to guess his thoughts; she remained silent for a while, and then said, “I heard there’s a drop of True Dragon Blood Essence inside Long Teng’s corpse, which will benefit me a lot.”
She wondered if Gu Changge would regret his offer after he learned about this matter.
After all…he cultivated the [Immortal-Devouring Demonic Art], and required all sorts of powerful ‘resources’ to grow his cultivation. The more tyrannical the resource, the better for him.
The drop of blood essence on Long Teng came from the ancient and mysterious Primordial Dragon.
With Gu Changge’s selfish character, he would never let go of such a great opportunity.
Even if she didn’t tell him about it right now, she estimated that Gu Changge would figure out one way or another to refine it for himself.
“A drop of True Dragon Blood Essence?”
Gu Changge was stunned for a moment after hearing her words and wondered if Yue Mingkong was talking about the [Five-colored True Dragon Blood Essence] that he absorbed just now.
However, since that [Five-colored True Dragon Blood Essence] was a reward from the Heavenly Treasure Chest that he obtained for killing Long Teng — since the treasure chest gave something related to the target — it should be something independent that came from the System, or it wouldn’t drop only after he shaved off all his Destiny Points before slaughtering him.
In other words…there should be another such drop of [Five-colored True Dragon Blood Essence] on Long Teng’s corpse.
Gu Changge’s first thought about learning about this was to take back his offer. That [Five-colored True Dragon Blood Essence] was good stuff that held powerful vitality and tyrannical defensive attributes, so how could he give it to someone else?
The more he got the better, after all.
But on second thought, he had already absorbed one drop, so even if he got another one, the effect wouldn’t be as good as the first one.[1]
[1: the effect of a treasure goes down the more you take. It’s like 100 percent effective for the first one, 50% for the second, 10% for the third, and so on…the effect is even more reduced in case of higher-ranked treasures.]
Moreover, Gu Changge already felt Yue Mingkong’s minor feelings of resentment towards him. Although she didn’t show anything on her face, how could her thoughts be hidden from him?
Gu Changge couldn’t help but smile and said, “First, you plotted for Ye Ling’s inheritance, and now, you are eyeing Long Teng’s True Dragon Blood Essence…”
“Mingkong, just what are you thinking about all day long? Your brain is full of nothing but evil ideas, eh.”
It was alright when he didn’t say it, but when Yue Mingkong heard Gu Changge’s taunts, she felt annoyed and wanted to just strangle him to death.
A moment ago, she was overjoyed by Gu Changge’s praise for her, but now…
What was she thinking about all day long?
Her mind was filled with nothing but evil thoughts?
Did he look at himself in a mirror before saying that?
Yue Mingkong had no idea about Ye Ling’s whereabouts over this period, but she knew that Gu Changge was definitely keeping tabs on him, so she couldn’t help but give up on Ye Ling’s inheritance.

And with his words, she estimated that she would also need to give up on Long Teng’s drop of True Dragon Blood Essence.
With those thoughts, Yue Mingkong quietened down and decided not to pay any attention to Gu Changge — she was visibly pissed.
“Look at you! You make it seem like I am bullying you.”
Gu Changge was still laughing as he said that, and didn’t seem to have the slightest bit of self-consciousness.
[Whoosh! Whoosh!]
Yue Mingkong suddenly raised her head after listening to his words and stared daggers at him with gritted teeth. Her azure hair fluttered behind her, and an enraged expression covered her picturesque visage.
The look she gave Gu Changge resembled a snaking knife about to gouge out his tongue.
“Gu Changge, does your shamelessness know no bounds?! All you know is how to bully me all day long! Do you even do anything besides this?”
She almost got out of the chariot with the intent to attack Gu Changge — she couldn’t bear his nonsense anymore.
What the f**k did he mean by saying she made it look like he was bullying her?
Was he not doing exactly that?
Seeing her reaction, Gu Changge decided to restrain his thoughts of teasing her further, and said with a smile, “I can give you Long Teng’s corpse, but before that, you have to call me ‘Husband’.”
“What?!”
Yue Mingkong was stunned by his sudden words and opened her eyes wide in surprise.
She doubted her ears and wondered if Gu Changge really planned to give Long Teng’s corpse to her?
Did he not covet that drop of True Dragon Blood Essence?
Was he really that generous?
Yue Mingkong even suspected that she had come across an imposter pretending to be Gu Changge.
“Husband!”
Worried that Gu Changge might take back his words, she shouted that word with a cold voice without wasting any more time.
She didn’t blush, nor did her heart speed up, and neither did she feel any shyness when saying those words.
Ordinary women might feel shy when saying it for the first time or so, but she won’t.
She had already married Gu Changge in her last life, and in this one, they had already done the deed reserved for a husband and wife, so her calling him husband was only right.
Gu Changge smiled in response and said, “Mingkong, I never expected you to be so obedient.”
Yue Mingkong suddenly felt as if she was tricked, but decided not to say anything.
Gu Changge’s Spatial Ring flickered and then a massive dragon’s corpse appeared out of thin air in front of them.
Long Teng died and his corpse returned to its original form: ‘an incomparably huge dragon.’
This was when he wasn’t even the direct descendent of a True Dragon, and only held a bit of a True Dragon’s blood flowing through his veins.
There were no signs of vitality on the massive corpse, but it still gave off feelings of suppression and strength to those who saw it.
The bluish-black dragon scales on the corpse appeared to be made out of molten iron and radiated an extremely tough and tyrannical aura.
Yue Mingkong looked at the huge dragon corpse in front of her with keen eyes.
It had only been a while since Long Teng died, and although there was no sign of vitality on the corpse, there was also no sign of Gu Changge messing around with it.
She couldn’t find any traces of him trying to refine it.
This reassured her.
But soon, Yue Mingkong’s suspicions rose, and her gaze landed on Gu Changge’s face and she asked, “You don’t plan to refine and devour this dragon corpse? How come?”
Gu Changge was always short of good ‘resources’ so why would he turn so kind right now and offer Long Teng’s dragon corpse to her?
Did Gu Changge not covet it?
Was he willing to give it to her?
One question after another popped up in Yue Mingkong’s mind.
Gu Changge couldn’t help but say with a smile, “Of course, I wanted to refine and devour Long Teng’s origin and everything, but since it’s something you want, Mingkong, then I will give it to you. After all, what’s mine is yours, to begin with.”
The main reason he said that was because there were far more cultivation resources waiting for him in the Black Sky Eagle Family, and Gu Changge wasn’t in lack of good stuff like a mere dragon corpse.
If Yue Mingkong wanted it, then he would just give it to her.
Yue Mingkong was stunned once more by his words.
Gu Changge’s unexpected answer overwhelmed her.
Logically speaking, with Gu Changge’s character, he would never agree to such a thing; why else would he run around all day long in search of ‘resources’ and even attack some Young Heavenly Geniuses in the dark?
Long Teng’s origin held great allure, at least, it was something many of the Young Supremes couldn’t even compare to.
Yet still, Gu Changge was willing to give it to her? That, too, without any hesitation.
This moved Yue Mingkong, and all the anger she felt towards Gu Changge disappeared into thin air.
“Since the dragon corpse is important to you, then you should keep it for yourself.”
Yue Mingkong suddenly said with a mysterious air around her.
But as soon as those words left her mouth, she was stunned — she never expected herself to say something like that.
It was already hard to get something from Gu Changge’s clutches, yet she was giving it back just like that?
It was such a failure!
Spoken words were like water poured from a bucket.
Even if Yue Mingkong regretted her words, she had no choice but to endure everything and not show it on her face, lest Gu Changge laughs at her.
“Since I said I want to give it to you, then I will give it to you.”
Gu Changge was momentarily stunned by her words, and couldn’t help but laugh out loud and said, “Minkong, the fact that you think so much about your husband moves your husband’s heart.”
By now, Yue Mingkong had also calmed down and said, “It’s not too late for you to realize that even now.”
There was quite some dissatisfaction and resentment towards Gu Changge in her tone when she said that.
Gu Changge shook his head and said nothing, only sighed as if he did have something to say but didn’t dare to say it.
Of course, he was laughing in his heart at the same time.
To be honest, Gu Changge never expected Yue Mingkong to suddenly say those words, so he was somewhat surprised.
The good stuff was right in front of her, yet instead of thinking about herself, she was thinking about him.
She could be considered somewhat stupid.
Gu Changge had no idea what to say to her.
Still, it helped him make sure of one thing, even if got nothing else out of their interaction, and that was: ‘Even if some day, Yue Mingkong’s strength surpassed his, and even if she was strong enough to kill him, she would probably be too soft-hearted to go through with it.’
At most, she would stomp her foot like an angry little wife, and then turn around and leave after throwing her sword to the side.
In front of the world, she was like a ruthless Empress who was indifferent and cold-blooded, but when it came to taking revenge on him?
However, Gu Changge understood well that Yue Mingkong’s change in attitude towards him was all because of his behavior of the last period, which was completely different from her expectations.
This made sense if one thought about it.
Immediately after that, Gu Changge gave the dragon corpse to Yue Mingkong without any further delay.
He would never go back on his promise easily.
Yue Mingkong looked at him in silence, not knowing what to say for a while.
She seemed to have caught something from Gu Changge’s sigh just then.
It’s just that Gu Changge didn’t say a single word, and that annoyed her.
“I am leaving now.”
In the end, Gu Changge didn’t say much. He looked towards the horizon, summoned his followers, and then turned into a brilliant ray of light and left with them.
He recalled a wave of fluctuations that hit him when he slaughtered Long Teng. Long Teng might be dead, but there were still some loose ends that needed to be tied.
The surviving creatures of the Ancient Immortal Continent might have kept quiet in front of him, but they would definitely not be reconciled in their hearts.
After all…Long Teng was the heir they painstakingly cultivated.
Alas! He died before he could make a name for himself in the outside world.
That was the truth of Long Teng’s existence.
‘Long Teng’s corpse is in Yue Mingkong’s hands now, so it’s possible that those from the Dragon Family might try to snatch it away.’
‘It will be inevitable for her to face trouble if that happened, so I should take care of it for her.’
Gu Changge thought to himself.
Moreover, with his actions of leaving Yue Mingkong with a great opportunity, and even doing so much for her behind the scenes, with Yue Mingkong’s ingenuity as a regressor, she will definitely act according to Gu Changge’s predictions.
Gu Changge wasn’t worried about her getting derailed from the script.
‘For now, I can put aside Ye Ling and the Reincarnation Heavenly Venerate’s Cultivation Abode. According to the norm, it wouldn’t be possible for him to chance upon it in a short time, nor will it be easy for him.’
‘He might even need to achieve another breakthrough, or pick up some mighty Artifact or something like that.’
‘The [Binding Immortal Art] will also take a while before it can spread throughout the Black Sky Eagle Family, so I can’t be in a hurry.’
With his followers in tow, Gu Changge searched for the aura he felt before and chased it everywhere.
By now, almost all the onlookers in the surroundings had dispersed, and only a few who wanted to strike up a conversation with Gu Changge remained, but Gu Changge ignored all of them.
……
A complicated expression appeared on Yue Mingkong’s face as she stared in the direction Gu Changge disappeared.
Afterward, she rubbed her glabella and felt tired.
The main reason behind her tiredness was Gu Changge’s change and actions, which confused her.
A while ago, she clearly captured Gu Changge’s sigh and fleeting emotions that showed that there was something he wanted to say but didn’t.
It was because of this that she felt that perhaps, Gu Changge…for some reason…
Be it in her past life or this one, she had never seen Gu Changge like that.
He was far too strange when she compared him to the Gu Changge from her past life, and it was as if…he suddenly changed because of something.
‘Anyways, Gu Changge’s demonic nature is deeply rooted. Although he doesn’t hold malice towards me, there’s no guarantee that it will be the case in the future as well.’
‘In order to prevent the tragedy of my past life from repeating, I have to grow stronger. Gu Changge’s current Cultivation Base is even more unfathomable, so if everything he’s done until now is to confuse me, then that would be far too scary…’
Yue Mingkong was merely taking guesses for the worst-case scenario.
After all, it wasn’t all that likely.
Why would Gu Changge need to confuse her? There was no need to think about a reason because he held no need for that.
However, this also affirmed her plan. After leaving the Ancient Immortal Continent, she had to investigate everything about Gu Changge.
Yue Mingkong didn’t want to sit still.
When she met Gu Changge at the Ancient Immortal Gu Family, she realized that Gu Changge had changed a lot compared to before.
The same was true of Gu Xian’er’s attitude.
What’s more? He even took a slash from Gu Xian’er, and even went to rescue her, and all of this seemed to be something he was doing to make up to Gu Xian’er for the damage he did to her in the past.
Adding to that was the fact that he even gave Long Teng’s corpse to her, so she could get his True Dragon Blood Essence.
Yue Mingkong always believed Gu Changge to be an indifferent man who only cared about his personal interests. The fact that she fell in love with such a man could be described as an unfortunate event in her life.
But now, she could see Gu Changge transform into someone different from before, and this brought hope to Yue Mingkong.
“Let’s go to the Baiheng Mountains in the East.”
Afterward, Yue Mingkong commanded her followers to head toward a certain location.
After all, from the memory of her previous life, the Immortal Spirit was born in the vicinity of the Baiheng Mountains.

Follow Noah as he builds his character Chemistree, a Treant rogue, and uncovers the mysteries of a destroyed virtual world. Expect guilds, dungeons, skills, stats, and, levels as he progresses through the main story of the game and tries to uncover what secrets the game has to hide. Okay, stereotypical introduction over. This is my first time trying to release a story I've written, so feedback is welcome. The premise is nothing special, I just want to do it well. A lot of similar stories I've read make me ask "what kind of game would work like that?" Sometimes believable gameplay elements give way for a more immersive story, but I hope to make that as balanced as possible rather than going for cheap thrills. Well, I guess we will just see how this goes.
