Chapter 777: Chapter 777 Battles in the Secret Realm
“Swoosh“, the blue snow lotus was cut off in an instant, then the yellow light caught the blue lotus and flew back.
The Nature Work Sect’s disciple grabbed it and ran away in a yellow light hurriedly.
Just as he flew away, water splashed up from the pond. The bloody tentacles whipped at the place where the Nature Work Sect’s disciple was originally standing.
There was a loud noise!
The ground that was hit immediately cracked, and countless rocks and dust scattered in all directions.
In the depths of the pool, the angry groan of the 8 tentacles bloody beastkin was heard.
The Nature Work Sect’s disciple was in midair when he turned around and saw this. He was immediately frightened by it.
Looking at the power of the 8 tentacles bloody beastkin, even the cultivator of the Crystallization Period later stage would be in danger facing it.
“Fortunately, the 8 tentacles bloody beastkin is an aquatic beastkin and will not easily leave the water…”
The Nature Work Sect’s disciple took a long sigh, turned around, and flew for dozens of miles before landing on the ground.
He placed the blue snow lotus in front and looked at it carefully, then he laughed out loud and put it in the storage talisman.
At this moment, a shadow flashed behind him; the Nature Work Sect’s disciple suddenly turned around, but behind him was nothing.
“Am I mistaken?”
The Nature Work Sect’s disciple frowned. When he turned his head again, a handsome, well-dressed scholar appeared ghostly several feet in front, looking with a smile on at him.
“It turned out to be the brother of Haoran Academy. I’m Wu Chao from the Nature Work Sect. Nice to meet you!” The eyes of the Nature Work Sect’s disciple flashed with horror. He pretended to be calm and cupped his fist while holding the short blade in his sleeve.
“No need to say any polite words. Leave your storage talisman and give half of your luck. Maybe I will let you go.” The scholar in a white robe said with a low voice and expressionlessly.
“Hmph, sorry that I won’t…” Wu Chao refused without hesitation, and he tightened the knife in his hand.
When the scholar in a white robe heard the words, his gaze turned cold; a layer of white mist emitted from his body, and his figure gradually became blurred.

In the next moment, a white figure appeared in front of Wu Chao in a flash like lightning. The white figure launched a white air from his palm at the luck lock on Wu Chao’s wrist.
This white air was as soft as clouds, but its speed was astonishing. It reached the wrist with a single roll.

However, Wu Chao’s reaction was extremely fast. He waved the short blade and launched a yellow crescent blade light at the white air.
There was a muffled impact!
After the yellow blade light collided with the white air, they were in a stalemate.
“Insignificant skill!”
The young man in a white robe sneered, then he launched another palm.
Another white air combined with the previous white air, forming a giant white palm. It crushed the crescent blade light and continued to strike at Wu Chao.
Wu Chao was shocked. In such a close distance, he couldn’t dodge at all. He spat out a green round bead that turned into a green wood turtle. It flashed a cast a green light curtain in front.
“Boom!“
The green light curtain collapsed under the giant palm. The green wood turtle shook. There were several cracks on it.
Wu Chao only felt a huge force rushing across the distance that knocked him into the giant tree 1000 meters away.
The giant tree was broken under the impact.
Wu Chao spouted a mouthful of blood, and the crystal jade lock on his wrist cracked open with a crisp sound. Wisps of gray mist rolled out, blending into the jade lock of the young man in a white robe.
The young man in a white robe laughed loudly, then he appeared before Wu Chao again.
“You have already taken half of my luck here, what do you still want?” Wu Chao’s face was pale. He coughed a few times, got up and said in anger.
“I just said it. Hand over your storage talisman.” The young man in a white robe raised his hand, and a giant white palm was condensed again. He spoke to the Nature Work Sect’s disciple with a gloomy face.
Wu Chao could only throw out the storage talisman helplessly.

Then, the giant white palm absorbed the storage talisman.
“Well, I have done everything you said, can I leave now?” Wu Chao stared at the young man in a white robe and asked coldly.
“Leave?”
When the young man in a white robe heard this, his eyes showed a hint of sneer. Before Wu Chao could speak again, the giant palm slammed down.
After a loud bang and a scream, there was no more sound.
After a while, the young man in a white robe looted all the things on the corpse, then he said while looking at the corpse,
“The Nature Work Sect was the number 1 in the Tianmen Convention last time, but their disciple only has such strength? I seem to have overthought before. Fortunately, I got this clear water snow lotus. My effort isn’t in vain…”
After speaking, the young man in a white robe released a yellow light to the ground.

After a rumbling noise, the ground split open for 20 meters wide and swallowed the corpse in an instant.
“I heard that Haoran Academy takes righteousness, benevolence and justice as the foundation of teaching, and their disciples are all focusing on cultivating their mind. However, I didn’t expect to see that people of the Haoran Academy are actually hypocrites!”
At this moment, a cold voice sounded; a burst of powerful beastkin aura also filled the surrounding.
“Who is sneaking around here!” The young man in a white robe was astounded. He quickly released Divine Thought to investigate the surrounding situation.
At this moment, a sharp whistle was heard, and his beating heart seemed to be dugged out by something.
The young man in a white robe shouted before falling to the ground. “Whoosh”, the corpse was burned into ashes by crimson flames; even the soul in it couldn’t escape the fate of annihilation. Only the luck lock and a storage ring was left.
At this moment, a gray beastkin aura rolled as a figure holding the beating heart appeared.
This figure was wearing a brocade robe. He seemed to be young. He had a handsome face and narrow and long ears. It was the beastkin young man, Xue Pan, who fled with Liu Ming and Ouyang Qian decades ago in the Green Sky Illusory Palace.
The beastkin young man squeezed the heart into pieces, then he flicked a black wind to break the luck lock on the ground.
Immediately, a surge of luck went into the white lock on Xue Pan’s wrist.

Xue Pan looked at the faint light flashing on his luck lock with a satisfied expression. After snatching the storage ring on the ground, he made a gesture and flew away.
…
In a canyon with a depth of several tens of feet, a black cloud was slowly moving close to the ground, above the black cloud. A young man in a green robe was standing on top of the black cloud; this man was Liu Ming.
In the first few days after entering the secret realm, Liu Ming did not leave the nearby area immediately. Instead, he killed a lot of low level beastkins to earn some luck.
During this period, he did not come into contact with the disciples of other sects. Even if he found some spiritual power fluctuations far away, he would ignore it.
After all, he still had to stay in the Tianmen Secret Realm for a long time. It wasn’t a good time to rival with others now. The best way was to wait for the others to collect enough luck before snatching from them.
In addition, he took the opportunity to find some spiritual medicines. After all, the spiritual medicines grown here were rare, and they also brought a lot of luck.
Not long ago, he found a mushroom-shaped spiritual grass at the entrance of this remote valley. It exuded bursts of extremely rich spirit. Recalling the various spiritual material ancient records he had read, he still didn’t know what it was, so he could only keep it in the Sumeru Ring first.
At this moment, under a green boulder more than a hundred meters away, a faintly gleaming spiritual grass once again attracted his attention.
When he drew a few steps closer, he discovered that this inch tall spiritual grass exuded a gorgeous glow and a faint fragrance.
“It turns out to be a 1000 years old fanli grass.” Liu Ming couldn’t help muttering to himself in joy.
This fanli grass was not a very rare spiritual grass, but this grass had 1 special feature, that was, it was extremely difficult to grow.
The fanli grass that was 500 years old could be seen occasionally in some spiritual places with strong spirits, and there was nothing special about it. However, once the age exceeded 500 years, every 100 years, the glow it emitted would be brighter, but it had a 20% chance to wither. Once it reached 1000 years old, it could be refined into the fanli pill that could help in breaking through to the Celestial State. Because of this, fanli grass of 1000 years old could rarely be found in the outside world.
Therefore, the price of fanli grass in different years was very different in the continent. The price of 100 years old fanli grass was only worth 30,000 to 50,000 spirit stones. Once it was more than 500 years old, the price would skyrocket to nearly 1 million spirit stones. If it was a 1000 years old fanli grass, it could even be sold at a price of 20 to 30 million spirit stones in the auction.
Liu Ming had only heard that the Tianmen Secret Realm was rich in resources, but he didn’t expect to encounter this kind of spiritual grass. He rejoiced immediately.
Just as he took out a silver dagger to cut off the fanli grass, the green boulder trembled slightly. A strong spiritual fluctuation spread out.
Liu Ming reacted very quickly. He reactively stomped the ground and retreated for 100 meters, then he stared behind the green boulder.
The soil under the green boulder began to loosen. After a muffled sound, a giant beastkin python with green-yellow stripes emerged under the ground.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
