Chapter 1033
Confusion
The old man surnamed Yao, who had lived for so many years, just smiled and said nothing.
“Anyway, we are entrusted by the sect to guard the entrance of the Evil Ghost Way, so we should be careful.” The white-haired man of the Nature Work Sect said.
The others nodded, only the young man with long eyebrows of Demon Mystic Sect disagreed, but under the stern eyes of the middle-aged woman, he didn’t say much.
“By the way, Brother Yao, Brother Wei, do you know where Senior Huo Ye of your sect is now? Since the ghost army dared to attack our 4 main cities this time, I’m afraid they have something to rely on. If the mystic ghost makes a move, we absolutely can’t resist it.” The white-haired man in the Nature Work Sect suddenly raised his brows and continued.
When the others heard the words, they also showed a cautious look.
“Everyone, don’t worry. Elder Huo Ye is near the Black Peak Valley at the moment. If their Mystic Comprehending State ghost takes action, he will definitely make a move.” The gray-haired middle-aged man standing next to the old man surnamed Yao suddenly said.
“If that’s the case, I’ll be relieved. Now that the war is imminent, I can’t chat more, so I’ll leave first.” The white-haired man nodded and raised his arm slightly. The green light wall on the left side dissipated into green light spots silently.
Immediately afterward, the handsome man in scholar robe of the Haoran Academy and the beautiful middle-aged woman from the Demon Mystic Sect also bade farewell. After making gestures, the light wall in the middle and the right also dissipated.
Seeing this, the old man surnamed Yao and the gray-haired middle-aged man withdrew from the array. After a few chants, the circular array on the ground also dimmed.
The room was calm again.
The old man surnamed Yao frowned. As he turned sideways and was about to speak to the gray-haired man beside him, a series of hurried footsteps came to the door.
“Report to elders. I just received news that the fortress outside the city was once again attacked by the ghost army. The attack was fierce. 2 fortresses have fallen.” A voice sounded outside the door.
The old man surnamed Yao and the gray-haired middle-aged man were both startled and quickly opened the door. The person outside the door was a middle-aged man surnamed Gu. He looked very anxious.
“Tell us the details first.” The old man surnamed Yao said with a solemn expression.
…
Meanwhile, thousands of miles northeast of Golden Light City. Halfway up a steep mountain peak, the No. 18 Fortress of the Golden Light Army was located here.

The entire fortress was shrouded in black mist.
In the black mist, there were densely packed ghosts dressed in simple armor, surrounding the entire fortress.
For a time, roars and explosions resounded resounding through the entire mountain peak.
Under the command of the ghost lieutenants, the dense attacks barraged like a storm from all directions. The protective light wall of the fortress was lit up with green light.
Although the protective light wall flashed with green light, it still blocked all the attacks.
In the fortress, dozens of stationed disciples were holding formation flags with nervous expressions, desperately pouring spiritual power into the flags. The flags shot green light beams that merged into the protective light wall.
On a high platform among the disciples, a man dressed as the captain of the second team of the Golden Light Army. He was a square communication disk array in his forehand while illustrating the situation solemnly.
“How many ghosts are besieging the fortress now?” A voice came from the disk array.
“At least there are more than 1,000. The team leader is the 3 ghost captains of the Real Pellet State… If this goes on, the defensive array of the fortress can’t hold for long. I request reinforcement now.” The middle-aged man said anxiously.
“Hold on a little longer. The 2 main teams are on their way. They should arrive by 15 minutes…”
Just after the voice came from the disk array, a loud noise came from outside. The entire fortress shook violently, and some cracks appeared on the protective light wall.
When the dozens of disciples in the fortress saw this situation, their faces turned pale.
Outside the fortress, 3 larger ghost captains were suspending over the ghost pawns that were besieging the fortress.
“You 2 go and kill these humans quickly. The order from above is to leave no survivors!” The leader ghost captain, that had one horn, looked at the crack on the light wall and commanded coldly.
The other 2 ghost captains responded. A black-faced captain with a quiver rubbed its hands, and a long black bow appeared in its hands.
Several black lightning arcs were bouncing on the bow with thunderous rumbles.
When it waved 1 hand behind its bag, a 2 foot long red arrow was drawn from the quiver. It skillfully put the arrow on the bow and drew slowly, aiming at the fortress below.
The black lightning arcs and the red flames on the bow and arrow merged together. A huge spiritual pressure suddenly emerged, spreading like a huge sea wave.
Another green-faced ghost captain with fangs cast a nine-ringed big blade that had gray air on it. Shrilling ghost cries came faintly from the rings. A cold yin qi emanated from the blade.

Inside the fortress, the Real Pellet State middle-aged man sensed 2 huge spiritual pressure outside, and a look of despair appeared on his face.
Boom!
A huge lightning bolt hit the green light shield outside the fortress. The damaged light shield collapsed after flashing a few times.
Immediately afterward, a 30 meters long gray blade light flashed and struck heavily on the fortress.
Without the protective light shield, the fortress could not withstand such a huge blade light at all. The entire fortress was split into 2 halves from the middle.
For a time, the fortress built on the mountainside was shaken, and the rocks were scattering wildly.
When the densely packed ghost pawns saw this, they screamed with excitement. They rushed toward the crack below like a tide, drowning the entire fortress in the blink of an eye.
…
To the south of Black Peak Valley, there was a gray hilly area with rolling barren mountains and ridges for nearly 10,000 miles.
Somewhere in the hills, a fortress with only broken walls and ruins was sitting there alone as if it had just been destroyed.
Inside and outside the fortress, gravels and rubbles were scattered all over the place. Many corpses of cultivators in yellow battle armor were lying there. Some had broken limbs. The blood flowed like a river.
In addition, there were many remains of giant puppets scattered around.
Similar scenes were staged from time to time in the area outside the main city of the 4 main cities.
It didn’t take long for the senior elders of the four main cities to receive reports one after another. In less than half a day, several fortresses of the 4 major armies were captured by the ghost army with lightning speed. No one survived the attack.
…
In the secret room in the main city of Golden Light City, the old man surnamed Yao and the gray-haired middle-aged man once again stood side by side in front of the green array, frowning tightly and looking worried.
“I didn’t expect to meet you guys again in less than half a day.” On a light wall on the left side, the white-haired middle-aged man of the Nature Work Sect smiled bitterly.
“The ghost army is really unpredictable. I think everyone suffered the same degree of attacks from the ghost army. Brother Yao, do you have any good suggestions?” On the light wall on the right, the handsome man of the Haoran Academy said with a gloomy face.
“Until now, we haven’t been able to completely find out how many troops the opponent has used. We can only take defense as the offense for now. Until we grasp the clearer situation, we will make other plans.” The old man surnamed Yao shook his head and said.
“I also fully agree with this point. We can consider giving up some small forts, shrinking the defense line and concentrating our strength in the main city and the nearby large fortresses.” The middle-aged beautiful woman of Demon Mystic Sect in the middle light wall suggested. The young man with long eyebrows had long gone.
“I agree with this proposal, and I suggest that our 4 main cities should not mobilize our troops to support, lest it’s just a distraction. The ghost army has never been suitable for protracted wars. We should just wait for the opportunity to fight back.” The Nature Work Sect’s gray-haired middle-aged man said after thinking about it.
“Since everyone has already agreed, I don’t have any opinions. Let’s do it this way.” The old man surnamed Yao thought for a while, then he nodded.
The handsome man from Haoran Academy naturally had no opinion.
With a silent flash of green light, the 3 walls of green light disappeared one after another.
“Brother Yao, if we all stick to our strongholds, Taitian Fortress will be completely exposed to the ghost army. Although this fortress is located in the middle of the 4 main cities, and so far no large numbers of ghost army have been found, I always feel a little uneasy in my heart. After all, once this place is lost, we will be completely isolated and fall into a passive situation. Once we are cut off by the enchantment of the ghost army, I’m afraid we can’t even exchange information.” When they exited the secret room, the middle-aged man suddenly said so.
“Of course I know this. But we can’t grasp the movements of the ghost army, this kind of situation is unavoidable. Compared with this, the safety of the Golden Light City is the most important. In addition, our 4 major legions have also taken precautions against this. I have temporarily dispatched Cao Changhe, and other sects also have reinforcements staying there. If there is a ghost army attacking the Taitian Fortress, we shouldn’t be worried too much.” The old man surnamed Yao nodded and said.
“It turns out that Brother Yao has already made arrangements, then I can rest assured. If there are reinforcements, with the defensive ability of Taitian Fortress, as long as the mystic ghost does not take action personally, it will not be a problem to defend for a while.” The gray-haired middle-aged man looked relieved.

Travelers [DROPPED]
DROPPED. The story focuses less on dungeon building than on the why of dungeons and how they fit into the universal order. While I am working from a grand plot, the writing is going slice of life style because I need to do that to work out how things progress into that grand plot. The original story seed idea / synopsis is below. The Grand Tapestry protects Rhofhir from Primal Chaos by imposing Order via patterns. However, the patterns grow stiff, stagnant, and so the Tapestry is nearing a time of Unraveling. Evidence of past civilizations wiped out during previous Unravelings foreshadow the apocalyptic catastrophe looming over the world. The mages of the Arcane Asylum reach out across dimensions, searching for some way to prevent, or at least stall, the coming Unraveling. Among the many voices they find is a gifted graduate student researching machine-assisted telepathy -- and his gaming group. Lena never expected that the chance to play DnD with telepathy would result in her becoming an actual Dungeon Master, nor that her friends could become the bosses of her dungeon. This is, in many ways, her dream come true, but there's a catch: What happened to Brad, the creator of that telepathy machine?

YAOS 1 - Limitless Adventures - Yet Another OP Story Book 1
December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and at Amazon. December 30th 2018: V1.1.2 of YAOS Book 1 is out, some content additions, fixed typos. Amazon's enhanced typesetting now displays tables properly. YAOS is shown through the eyes of some genius athlete getting OP inside a VR, ah wait, Full Immersion game, ?F.I.O?. Not a Hero, not a Nerd, just a driven individual paying for mistakes made, biding time until he can return to the Real World. He isn't defined like you'd normally do it, you can pick his looks and name all on your own, just like you do in video games. Believe it or not, keeping his looks undefined is harder than you think. His backstory isn't expounded in detail, but it drives his choices. Book 1 isn't about depressing sob stories but about fun and rushing forward, pursuing new horizons. Oh, and you'll end on a cliffhanger! Well, most serials do, so you will probably expect that without being told explicitly. But it isn't that bad, there's a lot of reveals and more to come once this book, that is the first in a planned three-part series, is finally ready for release on amazon et al. The published version will have: 1.) Godawful speaker tags, I hate them, they make you stop thinking and speed up editing so much. In hindsight they should have been in to begin with. But I stand by my goals proclaimed earlier. You guys should think while reading, that is the whole point of the exercise. Apply the knowledge and ideas, improve yourself, get creative! 2.) Pretty colored tables, the damned blue boxes, a lot of work, 69 in one book. Finally fixed amazon's centering issue. Can't say I liked the hours needed to debug that. 3.) The promised Mitara chapters. 4.) A cover! 5.) And lastly, updated polished versions of several chapters. MC shares more of his past, some terrible chapters (esp. 32) finally work. Some new scenes, minor rewrites in parts. Text flow and other issues. The current challenge is to maintain essential ambiguity while satisfying people wanting to know more without thinking three steps ahead. Balancing one with the other is tough. The smut which was in remains, but the story told is not to be superseded by it. A 15+ rating for the first book is also important, not to mention, YAOS wasn't meant to contain any smut to begin with. If the Author can turn to writing full time his output should increase, so please support YAOS #1 once it does finally release. ~Thank You~ No maps so far, that should be in, but is really hard to get done right. Again, tips are appreciated. Update September 2017: Stubbed chapters, sorry guys, currently don't have time to upload them elsewhere, polishing book 1 and 2, writing 3, takes precedence. Book 1 is in heavy editing, too much to keep synced and continuing editing. I'd need a site which offers JS-free rapid managing of chapters and comments. Coding one myself or setting a premade up is out of scope until I'm done with the books. RRL-old offered that, nuff said. This is only here because the author believes in fairies, nobody reads this, most likely. October to December 2017: Life threw some curveballs. February 2018: Book 2 draft 1 completed, at ~150K words. Book 2 is fairly epic in scope, requires 1 rewritten chapter, some editing. Tables and miscellanea are in, but needs at least a grammar pass. March 2018: Book 3 at 28k words, first arc, rest needs serious planning for spin-off and satisfying conclusion. July 2018: Yet another proofing/editing session of books 1-3, 101+ chapters, ~300k words. B3 at 48k, starts out great, but no ETA, no wordcount limit, in flux. But prioritizing my writing cannot be done, I hate the delays as much as you, but you will prefer the whole released in a timely fashion rather than wait. Knowing myself how excruciating waiting can be, at least you'll get significantly polished versions and an ETA on book 2 by release of book 1. December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and in the process at Amazon et. al.. . To all who wait patiently, offered feedback, thanks again!
