Chapter 1055: Cold Moon City
Cold Moon City
Liu Ming was planning to use “Yin Han”’s identity to infiltrate the local Serene Clan forces, then he would try to find out the whereabouts of Hell Bone Secret and hell river. Only then he would try to find a way to return to Evil Ghost Way.
With such a big opportunity delivered to his door, he naturally would not let it go easily.
And the reason why he pretended to be Yin Han was that it was unlikely for him to roam around as a normal human. Besides, Yin Han’s strength was not very high and he was also inconspicuous in the Serene Clan, so it wouldn’t be exposed easily. What’s more, Yin Han’s time of stationing here was almost up. He would be sent back to Cold Moon City soon.
After he pretended to be this person, he could naturally infiltrate the relevant Serene Clan force to inquire about the information he wanted.
Of course, Liu Ming still lacked an important thing, that was, a large number of low rank ghost creatures to replace the ghosts killed by Fei’er and Xie’er before.
It was said that Serene Clan wasn’t just using these ghost creatures to battle. They mainly used them as servants, which had long been a habit of Serene Clan’s people.
According to “Yin Han”‘s memory, there were several places where ghost creatures gathered near this place.
After Liu Ming thought about it for a while, he turned into a black escape light and flew into the distance.
A month later, on a dark path in the trees, two gray-skinned men were slowly walking side by side.
This person was none other than Liu Ming who rushed to Cold Moon City all the way.
Beside him was a Serene Clan man in a blue shirt.
The man’s sleeves were fluttering, and he had a handsome look. He was chatting nonstop with Liu Ming.
This Serene Clan man was named Tu Kun. His cultivation was at the Crystallization Period later stage. Liu Ming met him when he was subduing ghost creatures, and he happened to be returning to Cold Moon City, so they acted together.
Speaking of subduing ghost creatures, the process was much easier than he thought.
Except for some wild ghost creatures, most of the ghost creatures with low intelligence had now gathered into simple tribes. They had engaged in so-called employment trades with Serene Clan.
After Liu Ming used the means of carrot and stick and spent almost half of Yin Han’s savings, only then did he successfully recruit a group of low rank ghost creatures.
This distressed Liu Ming who was struggling with hell stone, but he was helpless.
He had just stepped into this place, and he didn’t want to catch the attention of the local forces for such trivial matters.
Having said that, he also got some interesting news from Tu Kun.
“Brother Yin Han, to tell you the truth, the battles between the forces within a million miles are more and more frequent. Even those low rank ghost creatures are now reluctant to be recruited as cannon fodder. Thanks to Brother Yin Han showing off your might to suppress those ghost creatures, now I have finally accomplished the task.” Tu Kun said with a laugh.

“Brother Tu is too polite. With your strength, how could you not be able to recruit such a low rank ghost creature? It’s just that Brother Tu is too kind that you aren’t willing to use force.” Liu Ming replied casually with a faint smile.
“Hehe, these ghost creature leaders are not as simple as they seem. Don’t see that they are obedient to us, once we really hurt them, the consequences are hard to say.” Tu Kun suddenly thought of something and sighed.
“Why?” Liu Ming was a little puzzled.
“Hehe, since these low rank ghost creature tribes can exist until now, they of course have their way of survival. Most of them have some backers. Maybe they are some great people in the city that you and I know.” Tu Kun replied casually.
Liu Ming nodded thoughtfully.
During their conversation, they had walked out of the woods.
A few hundred feet away, a huge city like a towering giant peak appeared. 3 vigorous characters “Cold Moon City” on the city gate were clearly visible.
Although he had already had a general understanding of the situation in Cold Moon City before, he couldn’t help but be startled when he saw this city with his own eyes.
It was quite different from what he imagined, the whole city did not look gloomy, but from the outside, it looked vigorous and magnificent.
The city was surrounded by mountains on 3 sides and covered an area of about 1,000 acres. The surrounding city walls were made of gray unknown boulders. A green flag was put on the city wall after a certain distance.
The surrounding towers were nearly 300 meters tall. Above each tower, there were several Serene Clan cultivators in turquoise armor. They were patrolling back and forth with a vigilant look.
Just as they walked to the city gate, the 2 cultivators in turquoise armor stopped them.
“You 2, report your identities!”
An unusually burly soldier shouted at Liu Ming and Tu Kun.
“I’m Tu Kun, this is Yin Han. we had missions outside of the Cold Moon City. We just come back to hand over the quest.” Tu Kun politely cupped his fist toward the 2 guarding disciples.
“Yin Han, why haven’t I heard of someone like you? What kind of mission did you take?” Another soldier who was a little short in stature suddenly stepped forward and examined Liu Ming carefully.
“I was doing mission outside in recent years under the command of Sir Bi You, so you probably haven’t seen me.” Liu Ming replied calmly.
Then, he handed up his identity token to the burly soldier while deliberately revealing the bulging gray cloth bag around his waist.
“Oh, no wonder. Since that’s the case, you 2 can go in.” The short soldier took a few looks at the identity token and the 2 low rank ghost bags on Liu Ming’s waist, only then he returned the identity tokens and let them go.

After leaving the vicinity of the city gate, Liu Ming breathed a sigh of relief.
If it weren’t for the fact that he wanted to enter this city as a human, it probably wouldn’t be so easy.
After Liu Ming entered the city, he immediately found that the spacious streets in the city were somewhat deserted. Various buildings of different heights were scattered on both sides. In the center of the city, a square castle could be vaguely seen. A flag was planted on top of the castle with the words “Cold Moon” written on it.
Liu Ming didn’t find it strange, because he had already asked Tu Kun about the situation in the city intentionally on the way here. He knew that most of the Serene Clan members in the city were out on duty while the rest of the Serene Clan gathered in the northeast corner of the city, which was like a market.
For the rest of the time, he didn’t go directly to the market, but he bade farewell with Tu Kun and chose a relatively secluded inn on the edge of Cold Moon City to stay.
At noon on the second day, Liu Ming was sitting cross-legged in the secret room, looking at a yellow paper map in his hand with joy.
This was a map of Cold Moon City and its surroundings, which he bought in the market early this morning with an inferior grade hell stone.
According to the map, Cold Moon City was in a place called “Serene Water Region” that was just a medium-sized force. There were hundreds of forces like Cold Moon City in this region.
But hundreds of forces in the region surrendered to Bi You City, which was the main city in this region.
Serene King Bi You, the lord of Bi You City. He was 1 of the 9 Mystic Comprehending State powerhouse of the Serene Clan at present.
This Serene Water Region had the most distribution of the hell river among the 9 Serene Regions of the deepest underworld.
This made Liu Ming breathe a sigh of relief!
After all, the deepest underworld was just too big. Any 1 of the 9 regions was also vast. In addition to the city, the region was also filled with many dangerous places. There were some dangerous places marked on the map that even some Celestial State city lords didn’t dare to enter rashly.
But when he checked the map carefully, he frowned again.
Because from the point of view of the map, even the nearest location of the hell river was still very far from the Cold Moon City where he was now. If he had to fly there, it would at least take more than half a year.
According to the marking on the map, to reach the middle of the place, he had to pass through several famous dangerous places in the Serene Water Region. Only some powerful Serene Clan members could successfully pass through these dangerous places. With his current strength, it was almost impossible for him to pass through alone.
Therefore, Liu Ming thought about it for a long time and finally decided to stay in Cold Moon City temporarily. After fully understanding the deepest underworld and Serene Clan and preparing some necessary items for survival, he would find a chance to leave.
More than a hundred miles away from Cold Moon City, there was a small valley that looked very calm.
This mountain covered an area of an acre. The hell qi was a bit thinner compared to other places. Except for a few bare gray-white tree trunks, the whole mountain only had jagged rock. This was like a barren mountain that could be seen anywhere.
At this moment, 1 black escape light and 1 blue escape light came from a distance.
In the black escape light, there was a bloodless burly man, who was the Serene Clan cultivator “Yin Han” pretended by Liu Ming.
In the blue escape light beside him, there was a purple-haired woman with heavy makeup, but her complexion was also gray. She was Liu Ming’s latest acquaintance, You Lan.
During the month in the Cold Moon City, Liu Ming visited almost all the stores in the entire Cold Moon City, but he did not gain much. He only had a little understanding above some materials and hell weapons that were channeled by yin qi. As for Hell Bone Secret, no one knew about it.
So he began to use his identity as Yin Han to make friends with some Serene Clan powerhouses of the same strength and inquire about the information he needed.
However, Liu Ming was a little disappointed that, in just over 10 days, he made friends with several Serene Clan members who ranged from the Crystallization Periodlater stage to the Real Pellet State early stage, but the information he could get was very minimal.
But fortunately, the woman named You Lan happened to know about a secret exchange meeting near the Cold Moon City. A few days ago, there were also rumors that the technique of refining the heavy water would appear. This was what Liu Ming wanted. So, they went to the exchange meeting together, hoping to get something they wanted.

Shift (Ben 10+DCU Fanfiction)
Omnitrix+ DCU, what's not to like? The main character will not be Ben Tennyson, rather someone from our world who gains the Omnitrix Hello! This fanfiction Shift is what I wanted to do for an homage to what I thought were underrated pieces of media, Ben 10 and some DCU characters. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t add context to two of the major works that inspired Shift, Dial, and A Practical Guide to Evil. Dial is another ben 10 fanfiction, however that story takes place in the MCU, and with an adult that is already a grown-up at the beginning of the story. Dial, by my own accounts, is more superficially Like shift, even though the Omnitrix is a central device in both. My protagonist starts out around 18 years old, so is less serious and can build relationships with some of the junior justice league members, and then later on in the story meet the Justice League officially. The tone will be more light-hearted at the beginning of the story as teenagers are known to use sarcasm and jokes at each other’s expense. Furthermore, in Dial, the protagonist has a well-developed knowledge of the MCU which he uses to have knowledge on events and characters, that the character in Shift will not have. While the MC will have some knowledge of people's abilities, lesser-known characters and people's real identities will be not included as much, but the MC of Shift will have some knowledge. APGTE's influence is deeper than Dials'. The epigraphs at the beginning of every chapter are an example of that, a place for light-hearted jokes and worldbuilding that's not pure exposition, but I also want to incorporate narrative stories to Shift (heroes win more than lose, providence, etc) on a lighthearted scale. While the heroes of Shift will have to work to win against villains, the MC of Shift will be allowed limited precognition, through narratives tropes and archetypes as a trade-off of less knowledge of the DCU. For example, a villain a hero faces might monologue, but the MC will not instinctively know how to counter every villain they encounter. I also wanted to bring in more realism than usual superhero stories, ie: the MC cannot just walk and have a meeting with Batman or Superman, he would have to “work his way up” in terms of credibility and whatnot. The Aliens that show up in Shift I tried to make different than the ones in Dial, just to share the love for lesser-known characters. And to make it fairer for the villains of the DCU, the main character will not wantonly use if gain at all an Alien X or a ben 10 form of Kryptonians, just so the characters have to work a little bit for victory. I urge anyone reading to consider checking out both APGTE and Dial as they are both amazing works, and I hope you enjoy them. The beginning of how the MC enters the DCU will not be as important as him actually existing in that universe, so that is why a ton of time is not spent on that part of the story. Chapters will be around 2.5 thousand words and come out around every weekday.
