《Nostalgic Gamer in a Cultivation World》Chapter 233: Giving out Serus
Advertisement
Ever since Dyne had shown the group how he managed to control a Gimard, the Monks and Hunters had begun to capture Serus and keep it inside Biron.
There were several Serus present from the hunts of the Hunters and Monks. The Hunters were skilled in navigating through the Mist, and the Monks were able to fend off attacks. With the Slimes and Gobu-Gobu aiding them, the group ventured to West Voz Forest and captured numerous serus.
Even the large Serus in East Voz Forest, such as the Gizam and the Nighto, were captured. The group even moved further north and found the ancient Wind Cave. The Cave had a nest of Theeders and Gimards, which allowed the group to hunt. The team also explored the regions near the Mist Generator. While they dared not attack a Zenoir, they found Veras lurking and caught them.
And so, Biron had a growing number of tamed, out-of-the-Mist, Serus. Several Level 2 Gimard, Level 2 Theeders, Gizams, Vera, and Nighto.
As for determining if the Serus were born of the Mist, the process was simple. Since the group knew that Serus born of the Mist, would die, they simply caught Serus and hid them inside Biron. If they continued to weaken, they were born of the Mist and would immediately be killed and used to cultivate or increase the strength and power of the Fire Seed.
And while capturing the Serus was easy, only thirty percent of those they captured remained.
Still, there were plenty that Meta, Terra, Jedo, and Dyne had assimilated with all the captured Serus that they haven’t yet.
Several soldiers had already arrived and had helped Lucas and Trina make the place a fort.
Dyne gave the introductions, and the group was amazed to meet people from another world.
The discussions turned lively, and everyone couldn’t help but notice the positivity of the Monks and the Hunters.
As the group began to talk and discuss the plans to create an underground region, Chrone was trying out the Vera.
Chrone was amazed at the power of the Vera when he connected with it.
“This… power!” Chrone could feel the light energy that it had.
“Yes. Try casting a spell with that Vera. Vera’s alone is strong. But if you give them Mana, you could use them to cast spells.” Dyne explained.
Chrone immediately tested it. He took the sword in his hand and made a small cut. He then channeled the Vera attached to him, and then the Vera began to glow with a bright light.

Dyne observed the first instance of a Seru and human working together. He was curious how it would turn out.
FLASH!
The Vera cast its healing spell on Chrone, and the wounds of Chrone were immediately healed.
“Amazing! It can allow whoever is holding them to cast spells with just mana!”
“So it works! The Seru taps on the Mana of its host and takes that mana to boost its strength. There are serus that are strong on their own, but when they merge with a human and take the human's mana, they can create even stronger magic. The stronger the host’s magical power, the stronger the spell. Now, let’s try it on non-magic users.” Dyne turned his attention to Rena’s parents.
Rena’s parents were gifted with two different Serus, and both were trying them on.
Lucas received a Level 2 Gimard. The Gimard wrapped itself around Lucas like a chain. Lucas felt a surge of power, and his innate affinity to Fire was causing a startling reaction as the Gimard was giving off a faint glow of red.
“As expected of Uncle Lucas! To be able to bring the Gimard to its highest potential!” Dyne praised.
“I feel… a great flame of power!” Lucas was amazed. He had recalled the painful experience of being purged by Dyne with Brimstone. There was a familiar power in the Brimstone, and now, he felt that sensation again.
He raised his hands, and flames came out.
“Hrm? Wait! What’s that?! How did you?!” Dyne was stunned. Lucas was actually able to create fire on his own.
“Father!” Rena felt it as well. She knew that the serus had limited magic. Unlike her, who can wield magic freely, the Serus had basic attacks. The Gimard only knew how to shoot fire and make the Burning Attack. But now, Lucas was able to somehow control the fire.
“I feel… a source of fire!” Lucas was amazed.
“He became a mage?!” Chrone was amazed.
“Even I didn’t expect this!” Dyne exclaimed.
“This is expected. Dyne, remember what you did to him. That purging allowed him to feel how it was for the magic to course all over him. And that painful trial allowed him to engrave that sensation. With the Gimard, he now has a source of flame, and he could cultivate as a Fire Mage if he wants.” Strafe explained.
“Woah. So what I did was amazing?”
“It was cruel, but it was amazing. But you can only do that for Martial Novices. It’s harder for those at Martial Formation experts since their structure has changed.”

“I’ll figure out something then.”
“I would laugh at you for saying that, but you did discover one of the secret ways to help create mages.”
“And you’re telling me this just now… because?”
“You never needed it. Will you want your friends in Legaia to be mages and break the game?”
“Well… no. But now, the games are overlapping anyway. So it’s already breaking immersion. I guess it’s alright now.” Dyne reasoned.
“Oh? Is this insane hedonistic person becoming attached to his friends?”
“Of course! I want a perfect game, remember? Sure, some could die. But I am aiming for a perfect game with no allies dead.”
“Fair enough, I guess.”
Trina had also tried to wear a Theeder. She felt the power moving within her.
“This is… amazing!” She felt a surge in strength.
“Can you summon the Theeder?”
“No. I am trying, but I don’t have enough mana.”
“That’s expected. Normal Martial Novice cultivators would have 15 mana at most. Unless you guys are freaks like these Ra-Seru heroes with disgusting mana capacity, people shouldn’t be able to summon it. Don’t worry, Aunt Trina! We’ll find ways to get you stronger.” Dyne smiled.
“Thank you, Master Dyne. The power itself that this Seru gives is already shocking!”
“You’ll feel better when we get a Wind Seru. Your elemental affinity is wind, after all. Anyway, Uncle Lucas. You should have enough mana to use the Gimard’s power. Try it out."
“Yes!’ Lucas nodded and turned towards one of the tones in their cave.
Lucas poured the mana towards the Gimard, and the Gimard grew red with fire.
Unlike the Burning Attack that the Gimard’s do when summoned by the Ra-Seru, the power was condensed into the hands of Lucas. It was as if Burning Fire's power was moved to the point.
“Oh? It’s stronger! Uncle Lucas’s mastery in control is making the attack stronger.” Dyne praised.
Lucas charged toward the stone and punched out.
BOOM!
The rocks were destroyed, and even Chrone was amazed by its power.
“That attack could harm Martial Formation experts! Incredible! A Martial Novice could do such an attack!”
“That’s great! The few soldiers we have should be able to wear it. I’m not sure about the undead skeletons serving King Leoric, though. But the people of Merkley can have some serus. Either way, the natives of Legaia should have the power to wield it."
As Dyne said that, a series of Serus suddenly began to reveal its power.
Dyne was stunned and turned back and found the miners of Chorak equipping Gimards and Theeders.
BOOM! BOOM! ZAP!
Some began to punch down to create massive holes, while the Turning Laser also shot out and weakened the rocks and soil.
"It's a bit stronger than the mines in the Ancient Wind Cave... But we should manage." The head miner told his team.
"Oh...! So that's why Serus lives there! They were used by these miners!" Dyne realized how the Ancient Wind and Water cave connected to Sabacus was created. These miners did it using Seru!"
The head miner approached Dyne.
"We did a quick survey and noticed that this mountain can indeed become a fortress. We'll be digging deeper. You said that you have more Theeders?"
“You mean to say that we can have more of these?” Chrone was amazed.
“Yes. I only had them bring out a few. But we should have more ready.” Dyne answered.
“How many? This would help us fight against the armies of those three demons!" Chrone was so happy he was shouting.
“Well, we have several more for Gimards, Gizams, and Theeders. We only have a few Vera. But my little bird and Slime team are off to get more Theeders from a cave. These miners seem to be used at wielding them."
"If it's shooting Theeders and Gimards, leave it to us!"
Dyne smiled and plotted secret ambushes to catch stronger enemies off guard with such a formidable team.
"If they use Turning Laser, they will injure Martial Formation experts and kill low-level Martial Novice practitioners!" Chrone uttered with amazement.
"And the best part is, they are only Martial Advent! Imagine what the enemy would do if surprised by such an attack! This cultivation world is too arrogant! They underestimate weaklings, and now, it's time to use those who are weak to kill them!” Dyne plotted.
"How many Theeders can we get?"
"It might take a while, but there were over a hundred Theeders in Snow Drift Cave."
“A hundred?!”

Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.

Liana in between Worlds
17 year old Liana is not as surprised as most people would be when she meets Inaya, coming from another world searching for a mysterious danger that could be disastrous for both worlds. She's always seen things others could not see, and she often finds it easier to befriend strange creatures from dreamworlds than her classmates. But now she's involved in a possible plot to eradicate our whole species, which makes her travel through a dead alien city and the oak wood of the Nummerfa who believe that our species are dangerous demons from hell, and other places in several different worlds. All she actually wanted was read her Tolkien book, or sit and watch the stars without being bothered by the existential problems of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. And how is she going to even explain her absence at school? 'Liana in Between Words' is a weird genre-defying mix of portal fantasy and scifi in a tale of friendship, loneliness, and the role of humans in the multiverse. This one contains absolutely no romance and no serious trigger warnings for sex, excessive violence, bad words or heavily traumatising content if you can handle the idea that there are people somewhere who think -maybe not completely without reason- that our species are destructive demons that should be eradicated.
