《The Journey to find the New Golden Emperor》CHAPTER 108 **A good place to Start**

Three months earlier…
As one holds the other that is crying. Someone ‘new’ to the Rolland Estate, pretended to continue to do their ‘job’ as they were in deep thought to what was going on…
This person had changed a few aspects about themselves and had not been recognized when having applied to be a steward at the Rolland Estate. Luckily, since the Rolland Estate lost so many people, they had even opened to workers that they could live in the servant’s quarters, if they were to work at the estate. This had been going on since the many deaths that had happened in the Rolland Estate, quite some weeks ago.
It was only just a few days ago, that this silent youngster had come, having written that he would like to work.
Talon, being the sentimental type of person, had openly agreed to the recruiter, and this young man was given work straight away.
They were able to keep their face naturally friendly, when around others…But when alone, the young man’s face showed something completely different!
They saw the cultivation pills being placed with the ‘crippled waste’ and saw how much this ‘Zeus’ meant to that person…
Initially, they had come for another goal, but now…Now they had changed their mind…
Now I know what those white things are…This would be a good place to start…
It was still nearly half an hour after that, that this person could do anything at all. The beast inside the room played with Zeus and the person hiding, grew more and more frustrated. They weren’t stupid, if that beast saw them and wanted to act against them, they thought that they simply wouldn’t achieve their goal…
But, as luck would have it, Zeus’s servant was asked to get Naruto some food, and so the beast and the one servant had left the courtyard…The person pretending to work, watching, as the little four tailed beast jumped up and down around the servant, as they went into the distance…
Within moments, the deed was done. Zeus was completely taken by surprise and could only issue a defeated last breath…
Death wasn’t something that got to this person, as they had ruthlessly slashed Zeus’s throat. Having taken the cultivation pills, the person left in haste and then traveled to Talon and Samuel, to do exactly the same thing.
Talon had tried to forestall his death, by putting a hand to his throat, but was unable to call for help, and by the time his bodyguard, Salem, had come…Talon was already falling to the ground, unable to do anything else, but ever so wanting to speak of his killer and what had been taken.
Surprise, hurt and anger overwhelmed him, as Salem tried to save his life, but Talon pointed with the rest of his strength, to go and get that person! His last thought was of Sahara and his worry about her, without him by her side…

Samuel, on the other hand, had been taken without even a look of the killer at all. His legs were kicked and his throat was slashed as he fell to the floor in a bundled heap…
He had come back from the Academy early, to have some time with his beloved sister, before she was to leave the next day…But now…He was never going to see her again…
His blood seeped out of his throat and went onto the ground around him, forming a puddle that would even shock Sahara, if she had seen it. Samuel’s eyes stayed opened and somehow seemed ominous, making those who first found him think a curse had come upon them all…Again, a few workers left because of this…
…Yes, the killer had stolen every pill that was left, Samuel had consumed two and Talon had only taken one. So, that left this person six pure, white pills, that was now all theirs.
Having changed their identity to that of a maid, seeing that Talon’s bodyguard had still been after them, the person had not left straight away. With the change of identity, they thought it would be fine and was in no rush to leave, wanting to complete their original goal…That is until they had no choice but to leave, when they were rounding up all the workers a few hours later…Before leaving though, they had indeed found out a few things…
Why is she suddenly deemed as dead?
Having heard that the ‘Princess’ had been killed, this person raised their eyebrows in a small amount of confusion…
Not only had the Princess’s death been put on this person, like that of Zeus’s, Talon’s and Samuel’s, but that she was now gone…
Their first initial goal was that of the Princess’s life in the first place, yet, she had always been guarded…Now she was just…Gone…They wondered who it really had been, because they knew it wasn’t them that had killed her…But, after this small confusion, it didn’t matter anymore. Her goals had been achieved…
It was time to leave! Even when they saw the obvious hush to the news, that the news of the death was already starting to stop from spreading further, they didn’t care. They smiled as they left, hardly able to contain their excitement for a better looking future.
Everything worked out, and to a better ending! Not only was the Princess now dead, but they had cultivation pills!
…Now, a day later, safely out of the Rolland Estate and back into their own dwelling, they selfishly took another pill and went back into meditation, as they had done a few hours beforehand…
The first pill was immensely satisfactory, and they were absolutely grateful now they had done what they did! Already, they had gone from rank two, to the peak of rank four!
Their life was getting back on track!
Within a week, this person had gone from rank two cultivation, to rank seven. Because they had only been ranked two when they had stolen those pills, they had done things quickly and efficiently, because otherwise they may have been caught, or killed instead…But now…They were a rank seventh cultivator!

Having two pills remaining, they had decided to go to their next plan of moving onto the Second Prince. It hadn’t been their official plan, but they knew that they would regret not attempting to gain respect somehow, with someone with higher powers. The Second Prince was known to be at least a seventh rank cultivator himself, yet this person’s original plan did not hold that much power, so they had changed it…
Now that they had turned into a rank seven cultivator, this person got a small ego and just decided that they would be better suited with powerful people…But…There was also the slight chance that more pure, white pills could be found with the Second Prince. So, they could only change their original plan, to give them a better future!
Wanting to be a part of the Second Prince and become one of his people, there was still a problem. If they were to take on their name, with what they were born with, things would never work out. So, they decided to try and be recruited as a ‘Slayer’ instead and become a ‘Band’.
They ventured to the Second Prince’s estate and was questioned.
Since Matthew was emotionally unstable and Band One was still imprisoned, Band Two had to make the judgement on whether this new person could be trusted to become a Band.
The seventh rank cultivation base was extremely likable, but the person only had basic fighting movements and minimal techniques, so Band Two put them into probation and told them to learn how to fight.
Band Two was stressed out and really was unhappy with this new problem. He really wanted to save Band One, whom was luckily still alive but had no way out and would most likely never be let free, since the evidence to his innocence had disappeared. Band Two knew his Master had delayed the inevitable beheading, but it didn’t take a smart person to see that Band One may never return now…
He really did miss him…
Within that next week, the ‘new person’ had been found out, that they were, in fact, a female…
It was quite suspicious and Band Two never added this female, who had showed a different gender and even asked to be initiated, amongst the rest of the ‘Bands’. So far, she had not shown the qualities that his Master generally looks for, two big qualities were genuine loyalty and an unrelenting want to survive.
Normally they didn’t recruit just anyone into the Slayer’s, they looked more for the potential faith and trust, and those who showed a large amount into surviving on bad circumstances. The Slayer’s were really a lot of people who had no family and no home, not many of them asking to be initiated, but Matthew had asked them and even talked or fought with them, for them to reconsider. Many of them accepted in the end, because that of becoming a new family, being able to eat and having a new home.
Their loyalty just grows over time and Matthew normally talks to a few of them on the occasion, to see how they are going…
In a way it’s sad, because Matthew uses their own misfortune to recruit them, but it wasn’t like Matthew asked them to be in that predicament to begin with, he just takes advantage of it.
There are certain rules that one must obey to be a ‘Slayer’. Obviously, the first one is that their real ‘Master’ is the Emperor of Green Haven, and not that of the Second Prince. The second rule is that they must not make big decisions, which mostly implied upon that of changing other people’s life’s. There was indeed a lot of grey area here, but Matthew said instead that their decision making is mostly about their survival, combat and protection, making their list quite small…
Matthew didn’t want them to think that they were slaves, but he told them that he would protect them and for him to do better at protecting them, they should let he himself, make the decisions. Yet, it was also a measure to show them that they are indeed more of a worker, then that of his disciples. The third rule is learning the role of the fingers when used, then the fourth rule is that they are not to use sum, only silver. The reason Matthew has put this as the fourth rule, is to keep them from gambling or becoming alcoholics. Beyond that, he did worry about them being ‘bought’ by others, so he believes that none of them should possess any kind of Cache Mint or Commoner Cache. Not all bands are happy to keep things simple and do have greed, so some have indeed left or told to leave, simply because they wanted more…Sadly, a few have had to be killed simply because they knew too much and weren’t able to be trusted after already giving into their greed…
So, in that prospect, Matthew supplies for their food and shelter and also for their weapons. Sadly, through suppling so many things for so many people, Matthew hasn’t profited in Sum in a long time and his fortune is slowly dwindling…
But…To have one come to the Second Prince’s estate, as this imposter type of person…How could they put faith in them straight away!? That would be stupid!
Yet, his Master didn’t care, so all Band Two could do, is lock this female up, when she wasn’t learning to fight, and saw that she happily complied…

Life of a Core
After a disembodied voice had told him he was what amounted to an exceptionally talented rock, it had been hard to not let it go to his non-existent head. Until, random chance had decided to give him a square kick in the minerals. Which had in turn forced him to fend for himself in an unknown land, all while he attempted to make sense of his place in the world. Truthfully though, all he had really wanted to do from the start had been to bury himself a hundred feet below the ground and be left to his own devices. Yet, for one reason or another, nobody ever seemed willing to leave the dungeon-building core alone long enough to actually make one. Each chapter will average around two to three thousand words, the release schedule is still a WIP but you should expect the first six chapters to be released over the next six days. This is planned out as a dungeon building fiction, but don't expect it right off the bat! The story is a depiction of the everyday adventures (alongside an overarching plot) of what I imagine a dungeon core would experience when thrust into a random environment where everything and everyone tried to covet or eat him. I also really enjoy reading the comments and reviews people leave and would love to get some reader involvement with the story itself, likely through polls at the end of each chapter. I hope you enjoy my story! (If you feel like some of the characters seem familiar, you may have read some older work I wrote a while back under a different account. If you happen to be one of my old readers and recognize the similarities, I'm happy to have you back!)
