《I Died and Got Summoned to Another World as a WHAT?!?!》Ep. 789 The Voyage Part 9

Brightfire says "She is probably going to be even more impossible to deal with!"
"Not for me!"
Brightfire says "That is because you are her hero! Probably even more so now!"
All I can do is laugh as the ship comes into sight, from the cheering it seems we are the last ones to return. The deck of the ship is covered in elves and there is a lot of hugging going on. Many of the faces I can see have brilliant smiles and at the same time flowing tears.
As soon as I land, Brightfire jumps down and runs off to join in the celebration. I plan to skip the party and am heading to my cabin when I am intercepted. Silverstream throws herself at me and hugs my neck as hard as she possibly can.
As she is hugging my neck, Silverstream is crying and saying thank you over and over. Before I can figure out how to react, another elven woman comes up and hugs my neck from the other side. She looks almost identical to Silverstream, so I am guessing this is her sister.
When Brightfire called her Silverstream's little sister, I was expecting an elven child. However, if I didn't know any better I would think the two of them were twins. Unfortunately, they haven't found time to get Silverstream's sister some new clothes, and the rags she has on aren't concealing much.
Once again, I am glad that my fur makes it impossible for anyone to see me blushing. I end up standing there like an idiot for almost ten minutes while I wait for them to get a hold of themselves. The sister isn't that bad, it is Silverstream who takes a long time to regain her composure.
Silverstream says "Ash, this is my little sister, Silverleaf. I never thought I would see her again! Thank you so much, Ash!"

Silverleaf says "It is a great pleasure to meet you, Lord Ash! Thank you for saving my sister and leading her to save me!"
"You're welcome, but I didn't do all that much."
Silverstream says "Oh no, not much at all! You only rescued most of us from slavery and saved our race from extinction!! You are a hero to all of us, whether you like it or not!"
Stillwater says "You can't really argue with her, Ash! Silverleaf, it is great to have you back with us!"
Silverleaf says "Elder Stillwater! It is great to see you again! How come you still haven't asked my sister to marry you?"
Stillwater says "Um, err! Excuse me!"
"Wow, he ran off so fast! What's the story, Silverstream?"
Silverstream blushes and says "It's nothing! Just a crazy idea my sister came up with!"
Silverleaf laughs and says "After everything you have been through, how can you still be so shy?!"
Silverstream can't seem to answer and very quickly runs away from her sister. Silverleaf bows to me with a huge smile on her face and then chases after Silverstream. It looks like things might be a bit more lively on the ship with Silverleaf around.
It also looks like Brightfire was wrong, Silverstream is probably going to be too busy to torment her now. Although, I have to admit that now that I think about it, Stillwater and Silverstream would make a good match. However, I have no plan to interfere and play matchmaker, I will leave that to Silverleaf.
Previously, the elves have been fairly restrained and on the quiet side. Since we raided the last port city and freed the elves that has been starting to change. The elves are showing signs of being more lively and more open about showing their emotions.

If I had to guess I would say that more of their people being brought back has lessened their depression. After all, before I showed up the elves were in a pretty miserable situation. They were firmly in denial, but it still affected them and their attitudes.
Now, the joy of regaining people who they believed were lost is breaking down their mental barriers. This is a good thing in my opinion, taking back a bunch of depressed elves wouldn't be much fun. Core is going to have a hard enough time becoming a leader without dealing with a bunch of moody elves.
Now that the sisters have run off I quickly return to my original plan and head to my cabin. Nala and Albion aren't here, they are probably out enjoying the party. With everyone in a good mood they can get as much attention as they want.
Besides, the party is a good place for the newly joined elves to get used to them. Albion isn't an issue, but Nala is a predator and definitely looks like one. So, seeing the other elves being calm around her should help them get used to her.
Speaking of, both of them have grown quite a bit recently, they should be almost fully grown. It is about time I teach them how to work on their cores, since I can't do it for them anymore. I should also start working on my own core, who knows it might even increase my mana.
However, before I do anything else I get out the charts and plan our route to the next city. I won't interrupt the party, but in the morning we will need to set sail again. Sticking around would be just asking for the humans to find us and come for their revenge.
Not that I am all that scared of a human attack, but the new elves could use some peace and quiet. They have to have a lot of mental damage after what they have been through. They will need time to adapt to the new situation and eventually begin to heal.
Luckily, I don't have to worry about all of that, it is one hundred percent not my problem. Stillwater and Silverstream, as the elders, will have to figure that stuff out. Which is good, because I am absolutely no good at being a therapist.
My skills lie in the opposite direction, ever since I was a kid I've only been good at driving people crazy! Or at least that is what I've always been told, mostly by my parents and friends. Not that I minded, I was only concerned with having fun and sometimes that meant annoying people.
In fact, sometimes annoying people is one of the funnest things to do. It was especially fun to annoy adults who thought they were smarter than I was. That got me kicked out of school a couple of times, most adults are sore losers.
Suddenly, I shake myself out of my memories, I can't believe I got lost in memories of my first life. That is the most I have thought about my old life since I came to this world. It feels strange to think so much about my old life, I thought I had put it behind me.

Synergy
Dear Inspector, Please accept this letter as my formal resignation from being a Player. Hey! Laugh all you want, but I had to try. With no rules down here, who's to say that I can't resign? Anyway, my reasons are simple: I'm neither a gamer nor a hero. You got the wrong person for the job. Sure, the pay is decent and I could pretty much live like a king if, you know, I wasn't so busy trying to survive. I have major concerns about the demonic dagger bound to my soul too. Come to think of it, I've never asked to be transported to this fantasy land either and would like you to return me home, thank you very much. I don't want supernatural powers, I don't want to complete quests after quests, and I don't want to be your test subject anymore. What? I'm not whining, you're whining. Stop making excuses and let me leave already. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you'll find a better replacement after I'm gone for good. Sincerely,Randel, the Mad Painter What to expect from Synergy: --> Some GameLit elements are presented subversively. If you want the protagonist to “play the game” properly, this might not be the story for you.--> No filler chapters; the story's structure is already plotted out. It's going to have six story arcs.--> Character development happens slowly, over many chapters. Don't expect a perfect protagonist right off the bat.--> Some romance, but it will never be the main focus.--> Humor and dark elements in equal measure, but not to the extent that I’d label this story as “Comedy” or “Grimdark”. ... and lots and lots of Author's Notes. See you on the other side of the portal!
