Worshipper Arc. Chapter 35: The throne’s decision.
Valoran is now seated on the throne.
Seconds pass and nothing has happened.
“Nothing happened…” Valoran states in slight disappointment.
“It seems Valoran, that you are not worthy to be the next King of Magic.” Ziebel responds with slight disappointment of her own.
“It seems that way.” Valoran replies.
Valoran is preparing to get up from the throne when suddenly he falls unconscious.
Ziebel is surprised and the soldiers are also confused about what is going on.
Ziebel walks up the three steps.
“Valoran?” Ziebel checks on Valoran trying to wake him up by tapping his shoulder.
“Valoran can you hear me?” She questions confused and concerned.
Valoran can’t hear her and does not wake up.
“That’s strange this never happened before” Ziebel is baffled about what is going on.
“It’s best to not wake him up.” Ziebel orders the soldiers.
“Understood!” The soldiers reply.
“I wonder what’s going on inside his mind?” Ziebel asks with curiosity.
Inside Valoran’s mind.
Valoran is standing in a bright green field covered in flowers of all colours as far as the eye can see, with a gentle breeze of wind passing through his hair.
“What is this place?” Valoran questions.
“It’s Beautiful.” Valoran expresses with slight joy.
Valoran begins to walk straight ahead.
“The magic here is strong. This whole place is magic.” Valoran begins to realise.
Valoran walks further straight ahead in this endless flower garden.
“Why was I brought here?” Valoran asks himself.
After walking more straight ahead Valoran in the distance notices a figure.
“A person?” Valoran questions himself.
Valoran casts irum (teleportation magic) at an instant Valoran is standing only a few feet behind the figure who has his back toward Valoran.
The figure is tall with red hair, dressed in a black robe covering a silver battle armour with red accents.
The figure begins to turn around slowly.
“So you came…Valoran.” The figure now faces Valoran.
Valoran is shocked to see the face of this figure.
“What…how is this possible? Reven?” Valoran is in a complete state of confusion.
“It’s been a while, well if you can say that.” Reven responds.
Valoran is speechless.
“I know it’s hard to process Valoran but please let me explain everything to the best of my ability.

Valoran remains quiet.
Reven takes a deep breath.
“4000 Years ago. I…The last King of Magic was defeated.” Reven states.
“What?...The last King of Magic was you? But…” Valoran is asking question after question.
“I will explain everything.” Reven reveals.
“4000 years ago, I made a last attempt to free the people of this world from the God's tyrannical rule
I have amassed a great army, humans, demons, elves and demi-humans all joined me.” Reven explains.
The green flower covered field has now become a battlefield from Reven’s memory showing the great battle between Mortals and Gods.
Loud war cries can be heard from everywhere, screams of death echoing the battlefield.
Valoran sees countless dead bodies from all races, the battlefield is covered in blood and dead bodies.
“You see, the mortal race was no match for the angels….I sent them to their deaths.” Reven says with guilt.
The scene changes with only Reven remaining.
“I was the last man standing.” Reven says.
“I was able to fend off the angel attackers however when he came…” Reven says.
Angels have surrounded Reven from all sides.
The angles do not attack.
The angles in front of Reven make space for someone.
“You fought bravely.” A voice addresses Reven.
Reven is exhausted from all this fighting barely able to stand, the angels have caused him many injuries.
“Nice for you to show yourself…God King Daimos” Reven says with heavy breathing.
Valoran watches closely.
“I will end you right now, and with that this world just like countless others will be under my rule.” Daimos states.
“Don't be so sure.” Reven reveals with a smile.
“A great power will one day defeat you. The next King of Magic will be far more powerful than me, my successor will even destroy you.” Reven warns with a smile.
“Hmm…Is that so?” Daimos questions with amusement.
“I have spread this prophecy far and wide, as long as this prophecy exists, hope will remain in people's hearts and this world will never truly be yours.” Reven explains.
“Then I will wait for your successor to destroy him or her and crush all hope of this world and make it truly mine.” Daimos responds.
“Tch, you will be surprised.” Reven counters.
Daimos summons his golden divine sword and stabs Reven right into his fragment, destroying it.

Reven’s body is erased.
“And that is the end of it, at least that’s what Daimos thought.” Reven mentions toward
Valoran.
Valoran’s anger toward Daimos has grown exponentially
Reven sees his anger.
“Valoran, please calm your anger, this was not the end for me.” Reven explains.
“That’s right, you trained me all those years ago…how could you still be alive when you had your fragment destroyed?” Valoran asks in confusion.
“Before the battle began I cast two spells, one which divided my fragment into two parts and the other was reincarnation magic. Daimos destroyed only half of my fragment.” Reven replies.
“The other fragment is fused into the throne.” Valoran realises.
“That is correct. I fused my second half of my fragment into my throne. To ensure that the next King of Magic was more powerful than me, the fragment inside would not be reacting to a lesser power.” Reven reveals.
“Now I see.” Valoran responds.
“With only half of your fragment gone, you were able to reincarnate despite the fragment not being inside your body.” Valoran mentions.
“Yes, I was able to reincarnate as my idea remained, I reincarnated 1000 years later after the great battle. However, the body that I was reincarnated in had close to nothing of my previous power left” Reven reveals.
“1000 years? That would have made you 3000 years old by the time you met me. You used the little power you had to extend your lifespan, leaving very little for other spells.” Valoran realises.
“Yes, I realised that two magic academies have been built for that very purpose, however, I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. I had to seek out my successor on my own. That is why I became an adventurer to travel around the vast lands to find promising individuals to perhaps become my successor” Reven explains.
“For 3000 years I have seen promising individuals be denied my title…until I met you.” Reven mentions.
“When I sensed your power, your will to do good I knew from that moment that you would become my successor. I took it upon myself to train you and encourage you to study at the Halivaara magic academy should they seek you out.” Reven explains.
“I-I see, Thank you.” Valoran bows his head.
“I’m sorry that I died, I truly am. You are speaking to the fragment fused into the throne.” Reven explains.
“I can sense the Magic power fading away as we speak.” Valoran mentions.
“My fragment slowly vanishes since it’s using all the magic power left to maintain this form.” Reven explains.
“Which means that with my idea gone, people will forget me.” Reven explains.
“No, I will not let this happen. I will ensure that you will not be forgotten.” Valoran explains.
“Valoran, you have grown into a far greater person than I ever could have become.” Reven says with sincerity.
“That’s because you have been a great teacher and a father figure I never had.” Valoran responds with sincerity and with a tear running down his eyes.
“My time is running out.” Reven explains.
Reven summons a sword.
Valoran kneels in front of Reven.
“Valoran Silver. By the will of Magic I hereby deem you King Valoran of Magic. Rise Magic King Valoran.” Reven instructs.
Valoran rises, now wearing the same clothing as Reven when he was the King of Magic.
“It’s time for you to face the Gods, Daimos will be waiting for you.” Reven explains.
“I will defeat him…and free this and any other worlds under tyrannical rule.” Valoran promises.
Reven’s body is beginning to disappear since no magic is left from the fused fragment inside the throne.
“Thank you Valoran.” Reven speaks his last word of gratitude.
Valoran closes his eyes.
The next thing he opens his eyes to are Ziebel and the legion of soldiers staring at him.
“You are finally awake.” Ziebel says with relief.
“Look!” Ziebel shouts.
Valoran looks at his clothes, it’s the same clothing Reven had, furthermore the Throne is glowing.
“The thorne responded to you.” Ziebel says almost speechless.
“I have been granted by the previous king of Magic.” Valoran announces.
“That means…That means…that you are now the King of Magic. Lord Valoran.” Ziebel announces.
The soldiers and Ziebel begin to bow.
“A great battle will soon take place…we must prepare.” Valoran announces.

Waking Up
The story of Larin the Builder in the aftermath of Awakening This short story is the epilogue of Awakening, the first book of the Chronicles of Mother's Gate series. This epilogue is a great follow-up to the novel, a bonus story that adds extra layers between books without being necessary to the main storyline.Waking Up follows the story of Larin, who is alive but unconscious after her ordeal in the Nine Hells. She awakens in A'lara City a few days later and recuperates under the steadfast care of her repentant friend Jorn.As she reacclimates to her waking state, Larin struggles with her gruesome memories of the Hells and her decision to conceal them from Jorn. This story answers the question, Is Larin all right? with a resounding yes, and some storms on the horizon. It also raises the question, What happened to her down there? and includes an excerpt from the sister story Falling Down, about Larin's ordeal in the Nine Hells. Praise for Waking Up and Falling Down: Loved it. The difference between the two stories is great! The difference between Waking Up and Falling Down is astounding. So much light and love in the first story. You feel safe reading it. Healing. The second, so much darkness, pain and despair. The choice of vocabulary is awesome and makes an impact. And this set of short stories ties the two books together so well.-- Dana V. of Texas ★★★★★
