《Azure Chronicles》Chapter 119: Preparations For A Side Venture

Lola rolled around the training hall with her tails wrapped around her body in a ball as the other kids chased after her. Lola rolled past Zalroth as he lent against a wall and pressed against his tails. The kids rushed past Zalroth, and Kai(in her humanoid form) popped her head out from Zalroth's tails and eyed the kids. Zalroth sighed as he kept his eyes closed.
"Go ahead," Zalroth said calmly. Kai excitedly flapped her ears before leaping out of Zalroth's tails and rushing after the kids to join them in trying to catch Lola. Zalroth quietly exhaled and smirked as he felt the sleeping Chronia press her cheek against the side of his head.
Suddenly, Zallino(in his small phoenix form) beamed into the room and rocketed in a straight line for Zalroth. Zallino front-flipped in the air and transformed into his humanoid form while he wore a knight-style/themed butler outfit made from his body. Zallino kneeled on the ground and drifted across the floor until he was kneeling before Zalroth.
"My Lord, the airship carrier will soon be flying over the location Lady Deva mentioned," Zallino stated coldly. Zalroth nodded as he stood up from the wall.
"Ina, Mimi, Kunai," Zalroth said commandingly before the trio he called for popped their heads out from his tails.
"Yeah/yes, sir?" Zalina/Mimi asked while Kunai made a confused yip noise.
"I want you three to go with Zallino to the Delver's Springs to...," Zalroth managed to say before he glanced downwards to see Lola and the other kids staring up at him with starry eyes.
"Can we come too, papa?" Lola asked while putting on her best puppy dog eyes. Zalroth amusedly sighed and ruffled Lola's hair.
"I don't know, your friends would need permission from their... guardian and parent in Destiny's case if they wanted to come as well," Zalroth stated as he removed his hand from Lola's head. Lola energetically nodded before turning towards the others and raising a fist into the air.
"You heard my papa. Let's find Mr Seven and Destiny's papa!" Lola proclaimed and all the other kids roaring with cheers. Lola and the kids stormed off and funnelled out of the training hall. Zalroth exhaled defeatedly and ruffled his hair.
"So... does that mean we don't have to go now?" Zalina asked, causing Zalroth to glance over at her.
"What makes you think that?" Zalroth retorted. Zalina tilted her head to the side while confusedly eyeing Zalroth.
"Because... you're going now that Lola wants to... aren't you?" Zalina uttered. Zalroth snickered and yawned.
"Are you implying I don't deserve a break once in a while?" Zalroth said snarkily. Zalina frantically stammered and tripped over her words as her face turned a bright red.
"N-n-no no, of course not... stupid... I was just wondering...," Zalina uttered shyly while burying the bottom half of her head under one of Zalroth's tails. Zalroth rolled his eyes and placed his hands on his hips as Deva popped her head out from Zalroth's tails right next to Zalina.

"...if you were going to join us so you could look cool in front of Lola," Zalina said, causing Zalroth to pause and ponder Zalina's words as Deva eyed Zalina.
"So, did you find all the things on the list?" Deva asked calmly. Zalina flinched upon hearing Deva's sudden voice. Zalina shook her head before she turned and faced Deva.
"O-of course I did, despite how icky the sludge item was...," Zalina said with an agitated demeanour.
"Good, now you lot will have an easier time retrieving the current Demon Lord's Multi-tool," Deva said, causing all the ego/visages and Zalroth to glance at her. Deva put on an annoyed expression and sighed.
"Right... you don't like me referring to her like that, but I'm not wrong... am I?" Deva stated defensively. The female egos rolled their eyes at Deva's statement.
"Well, yeah... but it feels weird to refer to someone by their title when you've met them, and are on friendly terms," Mimi remarked half-heartedly. Deva glanced at Mimi before over at Zalroth.
"Is... that so...?" Deva uttered as she descended back into Zalroth's tails while spinning in circles. The group sighed in unison before Lola blitzed into the room, using a low-percentage Lightning Amp; she bolted over to Zalroth and stopped before him.
"Papa-papa, they said yes," Lola proclaimed excitedly. Zalroth smirked and crouched down to Lola's eye level.
"Say... Fluffkins, could you ask... Nola could take you and the other, tell her it's a request from me," Zalroth said. Lola gave Zalroth a perplexed stare.
"Aren't... you going anymore?" Lola asked with a shaky voice.
"Who knows?" Zalroth said overly sarcastically before winking at Lola. Lola's eyes lit up before she winked back at him. Lola turned away and blitzed off out of the training hall again. Zalroth placed his right hand over his face and stood up as the egos/visage stared at him.
"So... did you change your mind?" Zalina asked telepathically. Zalroth flexed his right hand and covered its whole palm in a pale yellow magic crest.
"I suppose so," Zalroth uttered as he lowered his hand and balled up his fist. Zalroth quickly crossed his arms before a rainbow-coloured circular portal formed nearby. Nola flew out of the portal and straight for Zalroth.
"Still wearing the Candy Catz onesie?" Zalina remarked as Nola floated in front of the group.
"Why'd you have to make me do it; couldn't you have gotten Minia to do it? Besides, she's better with leading groups than I am," Nola whined.
"Because your azure ability will be more appropriate for the area given the nature of the magic dungeon in Delver's Springs," Zalroth stated. Nola groaned as she hung her head.
"Fine...," Nola angrily grumbled as she felt Zalroth place something metalic on her head. Nola tiredly glared at Zalroth as she grabbed the thing off her head and stared at the object: it was a golden and bronze cylinder-shaped mining lantern with a Chinese lantern theme design and a mini-moon as a light source.

Nola's eyes lit up as she sensed the qi emanating from the lantern was identical to her own. Nola darted between the lantern and Zalroth with a mesmerised tint in her eyes.
"I-is this?" Nola said while struggling to speak.
"Yep... Chronia even gave it the name: The Radiant Beacon, but she said if you didn't like the name, you could change it," Zalroth stated. Nola frantically shook her head while clutching The Radiant Beacon in her arms.
"The name's fine... ... I'll get on leading Lola and her friends now," Nola said giddily and nervously before she flew back into her portal and closed it behind her.
"Well... she changed her tune real quick after getting her divine weapon... not that I can blame her," Mimi remarked.
"Speaking of divine weapons, better give Minia her's before Nola gloats to her about getting hers first," Zalroth remarked. Zalroth walked off with Zallino following behind him.
Meanwhile, Minia sat in the middle of a large baby-proofed bedroom/daycare while Kyubi was crawling around the room with the two other toddlers in the room (Mola: a female pale pink-skinned kijin with short scruffy light lime-coloured hair and lime-coloured eyes; Tempo: a male angel with blond hair, white eyes, pale-skinned, and six small silver angel wings).
"How'd I end up being put on baby watch duty?... nah shouldn't complain... might jinx myself," Minia uttered mentally as the toddlers clung to her arms.
"Sorry... about making you babysit our little ones, Mrs Minia," Tempo's mother said apologetically. Minia playfully waved her hand at the two mothers.
"Nah... don't worry about it, you two still need to prepare for that thing you two are worrying about," Minia muttered tiredly. The mothers profusely and apologetically thanked Minia before leaving the room. The door closed, and Minia groaned before she led down on her gelatin tails, allowing the toddlers and Kyubi to climb up on top of Minia. The daycare door opened, and Minia glanced at it to see Lumios walk in.
"What do you want, Research Neet?" Minia uttered.
"Well... given the alchemy test I was planning on doing I'll be in the lab for a while-".
"Yeah-yeah, you're here to drop off your Kimmi-Ka, right?" Minia asked snarkily. Lumios stood silently for a second before shrugging. Lumios made one of his miruku tendrils move around his body to reveal Kimmi-Ka clinging to the miruku tendril with a grumpy expression glued to her face (a female humanoid fair-skinned toddler. Long woolly hair, half snow white(left) and half blond(right) hair with lime hair tips; pure gold right eye with a pink/lime gradient pupil, a glistening deep blue left eye with a pupil in the shape of multiple concentric white stars, nine small and long [tripple her height] blond to snow white gradient coloured fluffy fur-miruku tendril tails with lime coloured tips, glowing fingertips, and slightly curved upwards glowing ram-like horns).
"Say... where's she been for like... the past month? Your sister and Kara have been constantly asking Yuna and Tila where she's been because they thought Kimmi-Ka was here," Minia stated.
"I had to put my research on hold and deal with her since her other eye gained a different godly eye for a short while," Lumios said calmly. Minia mindlessly nodded, but after she thought about it for a second, she darted her head at Lumios with a shocked and lost expression plastered all over her face.
"Wait... you're saying she was born with two?!" Minia blurted out.
"Yes... that is indeed what I said?" Lumios said with a confused tone. Minia exhaustedly sighed and banged the back of her head against her tails.
"First, it was her being made of five different species, and now she's a god for two different things...; next, you are going to tell me she's awakened her unique azure ability and any other common azure abilities," Minia uttered agitatedly. Lumios raised a hand, but Minia told him to put his hand back down before Minia glanced at Kimmi-Ka. Minia groaned loudly and rolled her head away from Lumios and Kimmi-Ka.
"And she has two unique ones, geez; what did you do to your kid, man?" Minia complained.
"Nothing. I would never do any of the things I've done to my own body with alchemy to Kimmi," Lumios stated. Minia exhaled in relief before she looked back at Lumios.
"Guess she's just a natural prodigy then...; so, what's the other thing she's the god of now?" Minia asked.
"Well, I happened to run into Princess Kara on the way here, and she informed me Kimmi's second title is the God of Justice," Lumios stated cheerfully.
"So, she's the God of Stars and Justice... isn't the justice one kinda ironic given you're the God of Freedom?" Minia remarked. Lumios rolled his eyes and placed Kimmi-Ka next to Kyubi.
"Freedom and justice aren't opposites, Goddess of Wishes," Lumios stated with a slightly cold tone.
"Whatever you say, but do you even know what your godly powers are yet?". Lumios' expression swiftly shifted to an angered one, and he glared at his palm.
"Not so far," Lumios stated coldly.
"Bipolar much?" Minia remark. Lumios shook his head and shook the angered expression off his face.
"... it has been getting worse as of late," Lumios stated calmly. Lumios bowed before he vacated the room. Minia sighed exhaustedly and exhaled from her nose as she felt Kyubi and Kimmi rest their heads on her thighs and drifted to sleep.
"Wonder if Lumia's kitsune DNA rubbed off on him, and he's in the middle of gaining a kitsune ego esc thing. Maybe the mix of wu-ling, miruku and acolyte made him susceptible to gaining DNA without needing to use alchemy," Mimia uttered mentally as she stared up at the ceiling.
