《The Legacy of Gilgamesh》Chapter 15 Sentient Life

In a palace in the middle of a lush jungle, where he could reign over his creations as a god-like being. He named his world Gaia, after the ancient Greek goddess of the earth.
Rico's journey to explore Gaia began in the icy glaciers of Iceland. He marveled at the majestic beauty of the frozen landscape, and the way the ice glistened in the sunlight. He spent weeks wandering the glaciers, observing the polar bears and arctic foxes that called this harsh environment home.
Next, Rico journeyed to the Gobi desert, where he was awestruck by the vast expanse of sand dunes and the scorching heat. He watched as the camels and lizards adapted to the harsh conditions, and he was amazed by the resilience of life.
Rico then traveled to the east, where he explored the lush rainforests and the vast grasslands. He was enchanted by the diversity of life in these regions, from the majestic elephants to the colorful parrots. He even discovered a group of monkeys that could use tools, a fascinating discovery that he spent weeks studying.
As he made his way south, Rico discovered the sea bay and the many islands that dotted the coast. He was fascinated by the marine life and spent hours swimming with the dolphins and whales. He even built himself a palace on one of the islands, where he could watch the sun set over the ocean.
Rico's journey of exploration was not without its challenges. He had to contend with harsh weather conditions, treacherous terrain, and the occasional dangerous animal. But he took it all in stride, knowing that he was the ruler of his own world.
In the end, Rico returned to his palace in the jungle, where he rested. He had explored every inch of Gaia and knew every creature that called it home. He was content in the knowledge that he had created a world that was a true garden of Eden, where all living things could thrive in harmony. And he continue to explore and discover new things in his world and even build new structures and create new species, using Origin.

As the days passed Rico couldn't resist the urge to let loose and let his primal instincts take over, he ran wild in the jungle, howling at the moon and feeling the thrill of being alive. And every night he would return back to his palace and smile knowing that he created all this, his own world Gaia and he was the ruler of it all.
As Rico explored every corner of his world, he couldn't help but feel a sense of emptiness. He had created this paradise, but it was missing something important. He realized that the world he had created was missing the one thing that made it truly alive - sentient life. He wanted to create beings that could think, feel, and experience the world around them.
More than two earthly months had passed since the creation of Gaia world. Rico was also very pleased within this time to see the world becoming more prosperous. Gradually, he began to feel that the world was very dreary, even with many creatures.
The reason was simple enough. It was because that there were no intelligent creatures such as human beings.
"The adornment of civilization is the crowning achievement of the world, for only in a society steeped in civility can true completeness be attained." - A verse he once heard from his father.
Thinking about it this way, Rico knew what his next step will be. Which is to create a manner of life, a kind of true sentient life.
Of course, even if Rico does not create such life, the world of Gaia may slowly give birth to an intellectual life form. But it may also not be possible.
After all, the conditions for the birth of intelligent life are very complex and full of flaws. From the emergence of life to the birth of sentient life as human beings, it took billions of years for the earth to finally produce such intelligent life.

Just like Dinosaurs who had stayed on the earth and become the overlord for a full 200 million years, without giving birth to sentient life. Such a situation may appear on Gaia. Sadly Rico would be long gone before the first humanoid life is birthed. It is not easy for an intelligent life form to be born, and they may never be.
With this newfound understanding, Rico set out to create sentient life in his world. He worked tirelessly, experimenting with different forms and designs. He used his godlike powers to try to bring these creatures to life.
The power of Origin lies in its ability to bring forth all things, even the spark of life itself. Rico has devoted himself to understanding the intricacies of the human form, delving into theories of evolution and immersing himself in the knowledge of the subject. He is confident in his ability to harness the power of Origin to create humanoids, yet the task is not without its challenges. For though Origin may be able to create mountains and rivers with ease, the creation of life is a task that requires not only knowledge, but also perseverance in the face of failure. For as the Stoics remind us, "It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that things are difficult."
Rico began to ponder the meaning of creation and existence. He realized that the act of creating something is not just about bringing it into existence, but also about giving it purpose and meaning. He understood that the true beauty of creation is not in the creation itself, but in the journey of the created.
As he looked on, the sentient creature he had brought to life lay dying before him. He came to understand that his purpose as a creator was not just to bring forth new forms, but to give birth to something that would in turn give birth to its own creations. He realized that the creation of sentient life was not just a physical undertaking, but a profound philosophical one. The act of imbuing beings with thought and feeling compelled him to question his own understanding of the world and existence, and confront the weighty responsibility that came with it. Despite the sorrow and grief he felt, he stood stoically, accepting the harsh truths he had learned as part of the process of creation.
As Rico trudged through the ruins of his failed experiments, he came to realize that true creation is not about exerting control, but rather about embracing collaboration and co-creation. His journey in constructing his own world was not just about constructing physical structures and landscapes, but also delving into the depths of his own understanding of existence, ultimately finding solace in the very act of creation, even amidst the hardships and struggles.

In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story.
